Cool! Maybe the Infantry Unit could use the bazooka as a melee weapon, battering people with it then blasting them off with it.

I made these Tetris special moves

You need to use T-spin in order to go through your own garbage block, and T-spin works like a slow moving Extreme Speed that falls very fast at the end.

And here's some alts

People are talking about series that need playable representation and nobody's brought up The Wonderful 101, AKA The Best Game On Wii U. For shame.

Fixed.

But in all seriousness, Wonder Red would be really cool. I could see him with a summoner moveset where uses Wonder Blue, Wonder Green, etc. in his attacks.

As amazing as it is, people are a tad discouraged.

It bombed.

Incredibly badly.

Still, he'd be so sick.

I'd be okay with W101 representation, but my only concern is the possible reactions from the people who still think it's third party.

Also, bad sales =/= bad game, otherwise we wouldn't have the w101 trophies at all.

I wasn't really trying to Bomb anyone, just saying that bad sales is a dumb excuse to keep a character out of Smash.
Eh. That's yet to be seen.

Apparently, Shulk barely made it in...

Bayonetta and W101 come from the same developer, correct?
Yes. Platinum Games.

Though Wonderful 101 is owned by Nintendo.

People said that about Shulk, too.

Also, on the topic of bad sales having an effect: Ness. Shulk. ROB.

Sales being an issue and ROB do not match. ROB saved the gaming industry by being bought by consumers.

ROB saved the American gaming industry by getting the NES onto shelves... and within a few months, NES systems without the accessory were selling better than those with it. Also, nobody gave a **** about it in Japan and Europe because their gaming industries were doing fine while America was just totally ****ting the bed.

True.
Though I think R.O.B. being the one that led to saving the American industry makes him more of a special case, sales really shouldn't be taken to heart when it comes to discussing him.

Fair enough. Ness and Shulk still stand, though - and much like with Mother and Xenoblade, The Wonderful 101 is noted for the fact that, despite poor sales, virtually everyone that's played the game loves it. Seriously, even including Smash, it's probably my favorite game on the system.

Shulk's Miiverse quote states that characters like him don't happen very often and kind of implies that Shulk got lucky.
I took that more from the gameplay perspective rather than the actual character. But I suppose he could have meant it by the other way around.

I took it as a character perspective as Shulk really is kind of an odd :4duckhunt: compared to every other choice.

He's the closest we'd get to Viewtiful Joe in design, at least. He'd still be just as flashy and crazy to play as.

I recall seeing that line; I felt that it's a little open to interpretation, as it could be based upon the character's playstyle, or his general character background. Or both.

I thought I heard somewhere that Viewtiful Joe was planned as the Capcom rep at one point? If so, they could easily port over some of his normals to Wonder-Red.

Yea that line was very vague. Did he mean the way Shulk works with all the Monado arts, or his one shot wonder status getting in the game after one game. Sure he is getting a franchise but he won't feature in the next games kind of like how Final Fantasy works. Or just another "sword-user" from another "RPG". Who knows? We will probably never get a clarification on that.

Although I do think he did get lucky.

About Wonder Red:

I would love to see more characters get in the game. He is definitely the closest to Viewtiful Joe in looks and maybe in move-style. Obviously I am hoping for Isaac and some other characters from series that are unrepped (Advance Wars).

Depends if they even worked on viewtful joe, if he wasn't worked on there would be no moves to port.

I love wonderful 101, it is my favortie wii u game. Shame on Nintendo for not advertising it.

I feel like sales would play a larger role in dlc than when it comes to being in the base roster. If the sales of their game are any indication, they wouldn't sell as well as one of the more popular characters. At least in Nintendo's eyes.
It also wouldn't be fair to the series itself. You're essentially putting it behind a paywall, which would keep casuals from getting exposed to it. It would do more justice for those niche series to be in the base game.

But that being said, I would buy wonder-red dlc in a heart beat. He will be my most wanted newcomer next-game for sure.

That's what I got from it.
The full statement was:
He's not the type of character that would usually appear in the Smash Bros. series, but we worked really hard to make it happen. We're very happy with how he turned out.
Definitely seems more referring to his gameplay than who he is in general.

I see there is some talk about Wonder Red. I like Wonder Red. He's one of my favorite choices for DLC. However, I commonly see some depressing comments like, "W101 bombed, so he has no chance". That makes me sad.

Here's my thing with speculation. People take things waaaaay too seriously. I think Wonder Red is a freaking AMAZING choice for DLC based on the game he comes from (which is...WONDERFUL :troll:), and the unbelievable possibilities that come with his abilities and just crazy.

I'll be the first to admit that the game bombed, which is unfortunate. It's severely underrated. However, I feel like that stops some people from supporting Wonder Red. THAT SHOULDN'T STOP YOU FROM SUPPORTING AN AWESOME CHARACTER. IF YOU THINK HE'S AWESOME, LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU LIKE HIM!!!

Sales might have SOME sort of say. But it doesn't have ALL the say. Wonder Red is one of the most unique characters I've ever considered for Smash (at least to me).

Here's my idea...just have Wonder Red by himself. Don't just shove all of the iconic Wonderful Ones into one character; that's just really complex and silly. Make him kind of a risk/reward character.

Like in Wonderful 101, have it so that you can charge your attacks to make your Unite Morph larger. So for example, the Neutral B could be a move simply to charge the size of Unite Hand. The larger you charge it, the stronger your attacks are. However, if you do this you lose quite a bit of speed. The reward is making yourself stronger and the risk is taking away speed or agility. Holds true to the source game and translates to a unique gameplay style in Smash.

The Wonderful 101 can survive without a home stage, and stage builder is always there anyway. You have two amazing tracks originating from W101 to choose from as well.

If we talk about Custom Attacks, there are endless possibilities. In W101, there are many different Unite Morphs you can purchase in the shop within the game. You can then use these as you play the game. Perfect Custom Move material, AMIRITE???

Overall, we need to remember a few things:

We've learned more about Sakurai's criteria. Some characters that many thought were likely to come back/ join the battle just might not make it. If Sakurai's words are to be taken with any credence, Ice Climbers, Lucas and Isaac may not have a good shot (hasn't had a game in awhile or series has no future). While this may not apply to all characters, it isn't out of the realm of possibility to think it might have affected these guys.

But that's easily arguable toward W101. Platinum Games is willing to do another, but would Nintendo/ Sakurai see reason to include him? Who knows? Red could be in the same boat as the ones I listed.

Nobody can really say with any certainty what is going to happen. I was one of the idiots who thought Chrom was going to poop all over Robin's chances, and boy did I look dumb. I think Robin is one of the coolest newcomers. While in hindsight it was pretty clear it was going to happen, it wasn't so easy to tell what was planned to happen characterwise.

Everybody needs to have an open mind, and I would advise to not let sales discourage you from supporting a character. I say this in defense of Wonder Red, and other characters like Inkling that have received criticism for reasons that I personally don't think are all that important.

Sorry, this kinda turned into a wall o'text. :awesome:

Uh...oh yeah. GO WONDER RED!!!:4miibrawl:

Have we talked about Snake already? Gosh darn it.

So, what's the public opinion on his return?

Or it could be the genre he's from, he's the only JRPG addition in Smash Bros. so far.

I would love to see him back, but at the same time I highly doubt it.
Alright, but what is the overall opinion of the character from the user's perspective? I understand you're skeptical, but I'd like a more general opinion.

If Snake gets important to Nintendo in the next five years or so, which is a really big if as it looks now, I think maybe he'll come back next title, but that Grenade Launcher has got to go.

He needs to come back. If we get any more DLC other than Mewtwo, I'd bet on Snake.

Snake's importance to Nintendo never got him into Brawl and it means jack here. Why do people keep using this poor excuse? Sakurai went out of his way to add him once, and it had nothing to do with Nintendo. He'll come back if Sakurai wants to add him.

They are from strategy RPGs are they not, the gameplay of FE speaks for itself.
First: I admit I've never played Fire Emblem.
Second: JRPG is a really loose term, but I've seen it described both as an RPG with a heavy plot and little character customization and simply as an RPG made in Japan. I could be wrong, but I think Fire Emblem fits both definitions pretty well.
Third: The words "Marth and Ike" keep appearing in my head as "Mark and Ithe" and it's kinda getting on my nerves.
