I spoke vaguely on purpose. But if you look up "character poll chat thread" it should probably come up. It's this website's poll... I've seen different opinions in different places...

I think you're probably right. Heh. Luckily I don't HATE any of those characters particularly, they just wouldn't excite me.

Honestly though as long as I get two newcomers I care about, and one or two that turn out to be fun to play as I'm probably golden for another 8 odd years.

Wario and Diddy carried me through Brawl(with Wolf and Pokemon Trainer as surprise characters I ended up really enjoying), Bowser and Peach carried me through Melee's era(with Game and Watch being one of the biggest surprise for enjoyment), etc.

So far we have Little Mac who could count as one I was a little interested in. Just need one more and I'm satisfied.

I'm glad to see Diddy staying, but with his pretty unchanged look, I fear he'll keep his generic chimp voice from Brawl, like for Donkey who'll keep his generic gorilla voice too.

I would prefer they have their voices from the modern DK games, they give them more personality.

He's looking awesome!! Am so glad they gave him some range buffs! On one of his less useful moves to! His design is seriously glorious to. No doubt at all that Diddy is gonna be my main again!

It seems characters having more expression is a common theme this time. And smaller pupils as well? This was on Dedede and Bowser's models- they were more expressive in their expressions than they were in brawl.

Diddy Kong is back, about time that he was announced, and looks good with the new graphics engine as well. Thankfully he's not with Dixie, always thought that if they were a tag team it would restrict Diddy in comparison to Brawl.

Definitely agree with Wario and Meta Knight for April, seems that the timing is impeccable on those. Though for March if Sakurai was looking for a time to throw Ridley to the masses with the anniversary of Super Metroid on the horizon it would seem almost perfect, I still think we'll have to wait a bit if we get a newcomer to the Kid Icarus franchise unless Sakurai wants to blow our socks off in March, and then its about time Yoshi gets announced since its pretty much inevitable at this point.

Given the lack of a DK newcomer in the Tropical Freeze direct, the most logical time, and the fact that Diddy appears to be running solo (he still has bananas), we don't seem to be getting a DK newcomer at all.

Sakurai's definitely ramping up the reveals. Not only are we getting more veterans, but we've also gotten 2 newcomers over the past 2 months. Bodes well for overall roster size.

I really don't think Diddy's reveal makes a DK newcomer any less likely. Plenty of people were already predicting Diddy to be revealed with the release of Tropical Freeze, and although some may believe the direct would have been a good time to reveal a DK newcomer as opposed to Little Mac, I wouldn't have expected them to show a DK newcomer before a return of Diddy. Besides that...have any of the newcomers actually coincided with a related new game release?

Anyway Ridley could be reveal in April here's the keys for this to happen

1. Direct in April
2. It has to be April 18th (super metroid anniversary)

I disagree. Just because a character isn't revealed with a game doesn't mean their chances are shot. Look at Rosalina. She was revealed a month after 3D World.

But Luigi, Marth and, Toon Link were secret characters.. Not to mention Mega Man and Rosalina are probably unlockable.

Edit: Also Lucario and Sonic were unlockable.

Guys, just because Rosalina was unlockable in the games she was playable, it doesn't mean that has a correlation towards her status in an unlrelated game, otherwise Luigi would have been a starter character in the Smash series.

really happy to see Diddy confirmed and for that Diddy Dixie duo theory to finally be put to rest but I have a question for you guys since Sakurai is using North America release dates to reveal characters now is it possible that we may get Meta Knight revealed when Kirby Triple Deluxe is released in North America

I was thinking that we probably might get 30-32 characters on the starting roster... and the rest are unlockable. We probably might have 13-18 unlockable characters... at least 44 character slots (excluding transformations)... 50 character slots at most (again, excluding transformations).

I personally think the starting roster will just start around 30-35%
Melee started with around 10-12 characters.
Brawl started with around 20-22.
30-35 is a possibility, but I personally don't really care.
