That wasn't so much toning Snake down as it is going on the same "gun control" principles that affect even in-house characters.Removal of guns from his arsenal.

Link naked (he could keep his earrings on) before anyone else.
Even if that isn't 'family friendly' enough they could always just make his gear look more sci-fi.That wasn't so much toning Snake down as it is going on the same "gun control" principles that affect even in-house characters.
He probably has higher chances than most people give him. Nothing stopped him from getting in Brawl, and there sure isn't something new that's magically keeping him out of this game. Veterans in general probably have the best shot anyway.I feel the only Third-Party candidate for downloadable content is Snake.
Pretty much any third-party company is interested in having their character in Smash too, they could easily work something with Sakurai too, especially the ones who have a closer relationship with Nintendo.I feel the only Third-Party candidate for downloadable content is Snake. Sakurai stated something along the lines of not considering Snake during the development of these games, and Kojima is definitely still interested in having Snake is Smash. They could work something out, but I wouldn't hold my breath otherwise.
Easier said than done. Besides, you could easily say the same thing for CommanderVideo and every other trophy in the game.I'd like to think that Rayman has good chances, since he has a trophy. It's just a matter of making him playable at this point.
Yes, you could. However out of all the trophies we know about Rayman is the most iconic and from the biggest company. Really just depends on if/how much Ubisoft wants him in the game.Easier said than done. Besides, you could easily say the same thing for CommanderVideo and every other trophy in the game.
That's like comparing a single family owned store to a Walmart.Easier said than done. Besides, you could easily say the same thing for CommanderVideo and every other trophy in the game.
Having played Super Meat Boy as Commander Video and a lot of Bit.Trip (mostly Saga) I could totally be cool with Commander Video. I didn't have him as that close with Nintendo, but if I were Nintendo I'd offer to make many mascot characters that want in on Smash Brothers and try to lock them into exclusivity contracts with Nintendo as consideration for character inclusion (as well as offering monetary consideration for the character rights), thus building my second party stable considerably. This could be a great way to keep Shantae on the Nintendo exclusive path she's been on, steal Commander Video from everyone else, claim Rayman (who has consistently sold better on Nintendo consoles than elsewhere). If they're negotiable you could even grab Sora from Kingdom Hearts in exchange for them to cease Kingdom Hearts games on Portable Playstation consoles (which don't sell as well as the Nintendo ones anyway. I don't see Square dealing them off main playstation consoles though, hence the need for negotiation to this compromise).Easier said than done. Besides, you could easily say the same thing for CommanderVideo and every other trophy in the game.
Arbitrary personal views. What do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
It generally seems to be popularity, representation, veterans, contribution to video game history, and what type of party they are. At least, that's what I noticed most of the arguments based around... But other than that, Sakurai and the rest of Nintendo defines the qualifications for DLC. We cannot possibly comprehend what is going on in there unless we worked for Nintendo, but even then only the higher level bosses would probably know. What do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
Mewtwo is all we have to go off of. And even Mewtwo is a special case. What do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
Being a video game characterWhat do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
We really have no idea. This is an entirely different matter from speculating the initial roster, and so far we only have a single character to go off of. There's not much we can really do at this point, and any qualifications we do come up with now are mostly pure speculation. What do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
the goku dream will never dieBeing a video game character
Then we should really step up our A-Game in speculation then and expand on more choices than just Isaac, Dixie, King K. Rool, Impa, Bandanna Dee then. :UArbitrary personal views.
This is exactly why I feel we'll get more than just a few newcomers for DLC than what most people here expect.Just remembered this:

Needing 200ish people to develop 2-3 characters? Not a chance.
Either DLC or some sort of expansion pack thing (New 3DS content?)
Either way, I'm excited for what the future may bring. Even mentions gamemodes/minigames. I would kill someone for Break the Targets DLC.
I suppose, but talk about DLC that isn't characters is best left for social threadsWe should also consider that maybe not all of the dlc will be new characters, stages, AT or trophies but new modes as well
It's also worth considering that there are a number of features not included in the initial version of the game. Online tournaments, sharing options, the Miiverse stage, Mewtwo... We may be getting more content for this game in the future, but it may not necessarily be exclusively in the form of characters.Just remembered this:

Not for long, I suspect, apparently Bayonetta 2 is selling much better than expected, in fact, it was UNDER-SHIPPED in the Americas.Who cares about the rated M argument? Bayonetta is THIRD PARTY. We don't need any more third party characters.
I have a strange feeling Ubisoft pulled a Kojima on Rayman, so it's not entirely unlikely either.Easier said than done. Besides, you could easily say the same thing for CommanderVideo and every other trophy in the game.
I'm thinking Wolf, Mewtwo, and a few fan-favorite characters, as the default game was pointing to a much wider audience while only hardcore smashers will get DLC, maybe K. Rool and Isaac, I don't know who else though. What do we even define as qualifications for DLC anyways?
There's also a decent chance they're already putting together a skeleton crew for the next Smash. After all, apparently development for 4 started shortly after Brawl's release. (Incidentally, this is why I think we should avoid ******** too much about characters like Dark Pit - there's a decent chance they're already working out the roster for the next game, and we're probably dooming DP among others to the same fate as Wolf and Lucas.)Just remembered this:

I don't think that's true. They announced Smash at E3 2011 to attract developers to the game, and Sakurai didn't start working on it until he finished Uprising in 2012There's also a decent chance they're already putting together a skeleton crew for the next Smash. Well, I suppose if anybody has a fair chance when it comes to third-party DLC. It'd have to be Rayman.Yes, you could. However out of all the trophies we know about Rayman is the most iconic and from the biggest company. Really just depends on if/how much Ubisoft wants him in the game.
Unique Moveset + Moveset Potential + Wild Popularity + "Marketing"I'm seeing inkling being placed as a likely dlc canidate frequently, what makes inkling likely?
Kinda of straw grasping as using two GS songs as evidence for Isaac, don't you think?Well, I suppose if anybody has a fair chance when it comes to third-party DLC. It'd have to be Rayman.
I mean it's kinda weird that he's got two trophies, one of them being in much higher quality than the other one. I mean Mewtwo's 3DS model is different from his trophy one in the 3DS version. So who knows what that could mean??
A random third party character who otherwise wouldn't be in the game having not one, but two trophies, is hardly comparable to a Nintendo franchise having music in the game. It's one thing to add a Rayman trophy, which was already odd to begin with, but for what purpose would the second model be made for? When Sakurai requested references to make the model, Ubisoft sent him a whole model instead, so he clearly made the second model after already having a model. It's odd no matter how you look at it.Kinda of straw grasping as using two GS songs as evidence for Isaac, don't you think?
How am I grasping at straws?Kinda of straw grasping as using two GS songs as evidence for Isaac, don't you think?
It's Bluepikmin, anything he doesn't agree with is grasping at straws, in his eyes, that is.How am I grasping at straws?
Why would I be grasping at straws??
That has music too.So, anyways, I just found another Nintendo owned franchise not many people know about. It's called Glory of Heracles...

I think different models is a tad more than music, don't ya think?Kinda of straw grasping as using two GS songs as evidence for Isaac, don't you think?
Definitely. And he tells us he is an Isaac fan while always trying to oppose his inclusion on the Isaac thread! It's Bluepikmin, anything he doesn't agree with is grasping at straws, in his eyes, that is.
