I really love the idea of costumes, i hope we get other characters as alt costumes for some characters like

Peach - Daisy
Captain Falcon - Blood Falcon

and many more, but is not that likely, so i will stay with the alts that you mentioned

also... to Lucina you could add the mask as a skin (we know she have it in Smash but we don't know if that's an alt costum or part of her taunt)

Palutena could have one skin with her glasses

or/and a alt based on her classics looks

Oh god... is there no way to look for Palutena's picture without finding hentai?! also... why with Pit?! that looks so wrong, Pit is a kid compared to Palutena!

With the gender choosing characters (Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and Robin), Zero Suit Samus and Little Mac, I'm positive most (if not all) characters will have an alt. costume at least.

The recently revealed box art has emphasis on costume selecting (with Miis and NES Golf/American Mario being shown), something previous Smash games didn't have. It also goes well with how Sakurai is giving emphasis on character customization. Costumes may be aesthetic, but are customization nonetheless, especially for the Miis.

I'm personally hoping for Dry Bowser and Dark Pit. These could include a few other aesthetic changes like voice and name swapping as well as a few different graphic special effects, such as blue fire for Dry Bowser and Dark Pit using Pandora's power of flight instead of Palutena's.

Well Sakurai already said that we could get different character as alt costumes a long time ago so it could happen (doesn't mean it will happen) also i'm pretty sure you made Shadow a mere example but meeehhh (Remember that Shadow is already an AT so we won't have him as an alt costume)

Well here is what Sakurai said when he confirmed that Lucina had her own slot:

“With the Wii Fit Trainers, the male and female Robins, the Villagers, and Little Mac, varying their appearances and voices works just like selecting alternate color variations. However, whenever there is even a small difference in abilities, that character gets an actual roster slot. That is why you can select Lucina individually.”

I think you are misunderstanding me.

What im saying is that in the same way something like Zamus exists, the same way other characters can exist, because im sure people will be suggesting the Zero Suit as an alt otherwise.
Dry Bowser could throw his bones like a boomerang and Dr Mario use his stethoscope to freeze or something stethoscopic... an Alt will be a waste.
