I wouldn't say so, Shadow the Hedgehog is a far more appropriate comparison.

"Dark, edgy version of the main protagonist who's ambiguously a good guy yet still makes you want to beat his face in."

At least that's the impression I got when I played Uprising, though Pittoo is 100 times better than Shadow.
False, Shadow is far superior. Let's play the opinion game.

Who cares if he plays favorites? We'd still be getting a great game with tons of different characters to play as.
Indeed, one can only make the logical assumption that every character on the roster is a result of Sakurai's bias as he decided who was and was not on the roster. It is not as though Dark Pit is an inherently bad choice either, most clones are ways for lesser known/loved characters to have a chance in the game because everyone else wants "muh all-star super awesome prominent characters."

oh, and all of the attacks too....
Don't forget the voice.
And the back-story.
Also the role in the game...
I'm done.
Are you trying to assert that Dark Pit is his own character despite being the mirror image of Pit? Impossible. Everyone comprehends that if a character is aesthetically similar... that they are the same exact character.

Dark Pit. . .why didn't you just become an evil robot so no one would look at you & call you a full-blown clone. . :4sonic:
If only... then he could shoot lasers.

Is Dark Pit basically the Meta Knight of Kid Icarus?
If you took off the mask and shoulder-pads, kinda.

He's a character that made his stance on being an anarchistic mirrored entity from Pit infused with the powers of the Goddess of Chaos, Pandora. Through the game he has a resentment for Pit and Palutena for how they blindly follow what they feel is good, swaps through many weapons that Pit could use, but in many times showed himself more powerful on his own. Over time, he joins up alongside Pit and Viridi due to there being a great common enemy. He grows to respect the goddesses and Pit, but doesn't really stick around due to them being a bit obnoxious for his tastes.

He has the potential to be an anti-clone who looks like Pit but has a very unique playstyle revolving around many weapons that Pit doesn't use... but that is the best case scenario. Due to the simularities he would likely end up having as a character, it is much more logical for him to be a color change/costume with a unique voice pack and crowd cheer/announcement call.

Well you like Shadow more, and that's just fine. Though, and I'm saying this as respectfully as possible, the Sonic games have always had pretty terrible characterization. He hasn't even changed much over the entire Sonic franchise, Sakurai managed to pack way more characterization into a single game. I mean, I love Sonic for the gameplay, and I didn't particularly like Uprising's gameplay, but the character interactions completely made the game for me, I kept playing just to listen to them talk. As for Sonic, well... [collapse=] IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANCE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE! IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE OF PACE![/collapse]
There isn't really any good dialogue, for any of the characters, not just Shadow.

More evidence to support Dark Pit as an alternate costume. Interesting assertion.

Evidence that Dark Pit is an alternate costume...
1. Presumptuous precedent that is not necessarily feasible precedent as Dark Pit was not the character Dark Pit at the time of his conception.
2. Dark Pit is literally a clone, so he is an alternate costume (self-referential incoherence is evidence if you do not point it out).
3. Kid Icarus arbitrarily "deserves" only one newcomer unless that newcomer is Hades or Medusa, of course!
1. I acknowledge that the character has become something more since his initial inception in Brawl, however that doesn't prove he'll be anything more in this game.
2. If he is literally a clone, then he'd act the same way. But if they don't change his attacks/idles/gait, he'd be nothing more than a costume/palette swap.
3. I stopped reading sentences you compose with any form of "arbitrary" weeks ago.

They can give him a different idle stance and animations for attacks, think of it like Wolf, wich unlike Falco, actually had a similar build to Fox, so they gave him different animations to his attacks to make up for that, and thus he no longer felt like a clone, even though his model was still based on Fox's. They can do something similar to Dark Pit.
You make a whole lot of sense with this, but no one has ever brought up Wolf's stance as argument. All I ever get is "Lucina's a clone!" and "He can be a clone and have all different attacks!"

Congratulations, you're the first person to make me consider the possibility. Still don't think he's anywhere near as likely as the bandwagon will tell you though.

Dark Pit is basically the Dark Link of Kid Icarus. :troll:
See, now when you say things like this, it'll lead people to believe that you don't believe what you say about Dark Pit either.

Which obviously makes his bias for his own characters show. And he typically doesn't bias it, that's why I don't buy this notion of KI getting a third rep or Kirby getting a fourth.
He must be biased for FE too.. I don't think you can use bias as an argument, especially considering the fact he's just adding clones to pad the roster, meaning representation can't be used as an argument.

Is Dark Pit basically the Meta Knight of Kid Icarus?
The potential to be broken? maaaybe, I would personally love to see that happen.

What suggests that Dark Pit would use any of these? If anything, we have evidence supporting the fact that he'd be a Pit clone (Lucina).
He could be last minute semi clone and still gets some rather big changes like Wolf, whom was one of the last minute semi-clones in Brawl. I'm betting he'll be Luigified at least trading the Pit's Arrow for the Dark Pit Staff, which is his one of his main weapons.

At least Shadow is visually distinct. I mean, uh.... Yeah Dark Pit is way better than Shadow!

Fair enough, that's why I read the comics. So to me at least Shadow's a very developed character, and I really like him because of that.

Indeed, therefore there is no observable precedent as many seem to insinuate.

No ****.

So you arbitrarily stopped reading my sentences if I called something arbitrary?

I do not care if people do not believe what I say about Dark Pit, I am just here to list the reasons for his inclusion if anyone is interested or defend him from those who presume that he would be an alternate costume because they do not want him on the roster.

Well the reason why we mention this is because of his model (and possibly voice clips) already existing in the game, just like Lucina, so it wouldn't be hard to make some adjustments and make him a semi clone. Do keep in mind that i don't think he is super likely or anything, i'd give him a 45% at best.

Yeah, I don't care for anything outside of the actual games themselves, as playing the game is all I care about. So at least from my perspective, Sonic characters are all pretty one-sided with a single, overly used character trait. Like Amy's obsession with Sonic.

It'd be nice if Sega could figure out how actual people work and incorporate that into their character's personalities.

And how could I forget that damn thing that those damn guys pointed out, of course I need the damn fourth Chaos Emerald. :troll:

I'm getting the feeling that Sonic Boom might have some decent characterization (as much as I hate to admit it). The tv show + the games gives Sega plenty of opportunities to beef out Sonic and his pals' personalities. (in a certain echidna's case the beefing is literal). Don't let me down BIGREDBUTTON.

Why is Charizard being discussed? He's already confirmed.

Is that Bio Rex grabbing all that money? He actually won a F-Zero Grand Prix?!?

Oh yeah Mewtwo's legit. I want Mega Mewtwo X for Final Smash.
