The concept behind Legends Crews is to provide the ultimate show for the community. It will be an exclusive tournament for only the best of the best of the top 7 characters from around the world.

So here's the idea, the best player of each character is a captain of a team, and the team may not consist of duplicate characters. Each player may only use their single character they are registered as for the tournament and counterpicking after a loss will be done as normal.

4 Teams

7 Characters

Top 4 players of each character

28 players

Crews may not consist of more than one of the same character.
Top 4 players will be the 4 Captains

Each team will have as follows.

-Meta Knight
-Snake
-Diddy
-Falco
-Ice Climbers
-Marth
-Wild Card

Depending on time permitted players will have 3 or 4 stocks.

The reason i chose 7 over 8 is simply Brawl takes a long time to run, 8 characters would be a good chunk of time. Honestly i originally had it at 6

LOL This isn't a page long yet, Melee is 11 pages long. I love our community and their good taste.

However, this is still a fantastic idea and I'd probably even watch Brawl for once.

So here is the new debate. Initially I was intending on having a vote across all of smashboards to determine the top players for each character in the game. Those players would receive priority to compete in the Melee Legends Crew Battle. HugS clearly showing regional pride really tells me that the regional pride still exists and I am proposing a new idea.

The new idea is that each region votes for the top player of each character to represent them in a crew battle. This way everyone is involved, it is the most fair way to determine who competes, runner ups will fill the stop if said player is not at the event. If a region flat out does not have say a peach player, they may take from another region's free agent.

Again just testing the water here, originally i did not intend to make this a regional type deal, and I appreciate everyones feedback.

so does each crew HAVE to have all of those characters in it? just trying to clarify things a bit. if that's the case then it seems really unfair to the other character mains who would only be allowed one spot. again i know this is just a concept.

Yes each crew must contain the listed characters. The wild card spot is to give other character pros a shot.

The picking system seems a little rigid, especially if this is going by region. If I may make a suggestion, maybe force them to pick groups kinda like in fantasy football:
Group A - MK, Snake
Group B - Diddy, Falco, IC, Marth, Wario, D3
Group C - Everyone Else

2 From group A
4 From group B
1 From B or C
(no Dittos)

So in essence a team could still play the original 6 chars + Wildcard, but there would be a bit more flexibility with the high tiers.

Interesting idea, but I think I want to keep the teams all the same minus the wild card, so that each team has the same counter picks available. Granted I will still consider this because it too would work well
