btw steve told me on facebook he's doing $10 venue $10 singles $20 doubles for every tourney he runs when he comes down here

yo when i move and i host tournaments at a **** *** venue... i will prob do 10 venue, 10 singles, 10 doubles per person. It makes things more hype and the winners win more. i hosted alot
and always did 10 for everything

ya but all TO's do wanna get paid for doin a tournament and if i get a good venue they gonna want 5 already at the least per person..

when i host in NY NJ i get paid yo so does everyone everywhere...

if 30 people go i get 150 bucks... thats legit

its really not that bad im sure you can find like 30 bucks every now and then. I mean you guys do have jobs right. I feel like more OOS and OOR would come to use and then we would get better.

a high venue fee doesn't increase hype at all.

nobody here runs tournaments for money. you shoot to break even. a little profit is fine, but if you're hosting just to bring in money, then you shouldn't be hosting.

why would a high venue attract OOS...and i told u its a lot harder to get oos to come in the south because we're so spread out. and if u want to be hosting a lot then u can't just market every tourney as some huge *** thing that everyone wants to come to

You are wrong for this. Tournaments are not for money.
My tournaments had the highest venue fee of tourneys ever down here and it was only $5 because I had to pay the place.

If you host with a $10 venue fee to make money off of a cheap venue, I am not going, and neither will most of NC. Not because we do not have the money (Though some of us actually do not), but because there is no reason we should shell over $150 to a guy just for hosting.

well its done basically everywhere else. always has... i mean if it is a cheap *** venue than ya 5 should be enough... but if i can host somewhere roomy and really nice or hold regionals once a month i really dont think 10 for a regional is bad. for a local i understand i guess.. im tellin you right now tho your the only region imo that feels strongly about hosts profiting. Hosting a tournament is very stressful especially in ny nj cause everyone wants to be seeded hi and god forbid u mess up 1 lil part of the bracket. you cant even play or enter up there if you host cause u wont ever have time.

i mean if it wasnt for the person hosting than u wouldnt have a tournament... how would u rep your region consistently then???

anyway ill prob just do 5 than since its a smaller and more spread out region...

but i am not in the wrong hosting is a job... and i love brawl but its still work...

$10 singles and Doubles are fine Steve. I don't know much of anyone who wants to pay $10 for venue fee's though especially without food/drinks etc. associated with that $10 door

Plus yeah most regions don't mind it but this region is really far apart

i probably need to understand how u guys work cause people in ny nj are business oriented. vry host looks to profit and the only reason the players play..... IS to get 1st or top 3.. If someone doesnt get paid they get pissed around here...

thats what drives people to get better around here... also there are alot of goooood players that are in the city
and poor as hell so they NEED money off these tourneys lol

Charlotte SHOULD be hosting more tourneys cause its the biggest city in NC just cause raleigh has more smashers the better players imo are in Charlotte area soooooooo you guys SHOULD come to us every now and then instead of snap driving 3 hours everytime he wants to attend a tournament

i 'd at the first question but then i 'd at the rest.

@vice: people around here are used to $2-5 venue fee and $5 singles and doubles fee. the main reason for this (i think) is cuz everyone in NC is poor. if you hosted a tournament that expensive it would need a lot of hype and a lot of expected attendance. like... more than 40 expected, at least.

Well honestly NC is more like a family.

I go to tournaments to get better, but another motivation for tournaments for me is seeing my wonderful friends.

But I agree that more people should come to west. and people have for my fest in the past.

Thats why brawl tournaments are a little more exciting. Its a tossup of like 4 people of who could win. maybe more depending on who comes.
