Hello Wolf lovers! I just created an account on here! While I haven't commented before, I've actually been paying close attention to this board--even using it as my source for DLC rumors. I FIRMLY believe that Wolf will be DLC and I have a theory. No, I am not blinded by the handsome beast nor am I over optimistic,
though I do have, what I like to call, Veteran bias. I believe that Mewtwo and Lucas were planned to be in the base game.
First of all, there's Masahiro Sakurai with his claim that there'd be no DLC after Mewtwo. Mewtwo is pretty much the Snake of Melee, being highly popular and iconic, but being cut in the next installment. Mewtwo is the only veteran so far not be a clone--making him a high priority.
Then there's Lucas who is in the awkward position of requiring a rather handful of development time (compared to Dark Pit, PHD Mario and Lucina) but being a clone, getting less priority.
Third, there's the ginger warrior, our boy, Roy. Pretty much the same as Lucas except there's Lucina AND Marth. Roy is the opposite of Marth (with the base sweetspot) with Lucina being the moderate version of both.
Ryu is the epiphany that all DLC so far are veterans. I also believe it was a combination, being a favorite of Sakurai's and a face that people would purchase. *Notice how he's packed with a stage
I know it's been said ALOT but the Falco amiibo, I believe, has a release date of the Holiday season to come out alongside Star Fox Zero. And I also believe the Fox amiibo is in short supply, in need of a restock. I believe there could be potential two-pack (Falco and Wolf) or a three pack (Fox, Falco and Wolf). ANOTHER reason for Wolf's delay is that he's such a unique character from Fox and Falco, requring more development time than that of Roy and Lucas, but again with priority--I don't remember when, but Sakurai stated rather than add more characters, to differentiate more between existing characters. (Mewtwo is the ONLY DLC character to be PLANNED in the base game, but cut due to time restraints rather than priority). As a result of development time and the Ryu Realization, Wolf has not seen his release. But even when he finished (or finishes), Star Fox Zero is nearby so they might as well wait until it comes out. Plus it allows for there to be another double prize day (similar to Roy-Ryo).
