In my opinion Smash 5 could be a reboot game without Sakurai, or well Sakurai with less influence on the game, like an adviser.

Could be more like an arcade style-game.

Could be similar to KOF XIII, MvC3 after MvC2, and Mortal Kombat 9 after Armaggedon; with more elaborated and designed characters with a smaller number, especially with "filling characters", could be very difficult to develop a huge number of characters, similar to the present, in terms of memory and costs, I think that increasingly is coming to increasingly more difficult to reach top.

It would be nice in a way that will maintain the current game in force while is promoted Smash 5 as an alternative to Smash 4, not being a substitute as has happened before.

I'm pretty sure they won't do this since Smash isn't a typical fighting game. There is no story so there isn't really a reason for any character to be cut besides time restrictions.

What he said. You see the backlash for just a couple of cut characters, even ones like Ice Climbers would be the most obscure characters ever if they hadn't already been in Melee and Brawl. I don't see why you'd arbitrarily cut half the roster for s**ts and giggles because other games do it. The outrage would be immense. And how can you elaborate and design the characters better when they use simplistic button inputs anyway as per Smash design? That makes no sense.

Smash games have a tendency to be timeless unless a better version comes out. There's still a very dedicated player base to Melee and Project M even if Smash 4 completely destroys them both with number of characters. So having a Smash 5 with only half the roster intact would just make the vast majority stick with Smash 4.

None of them will be cut. Shulk is the Marth of Xenoblade. Dedede won't be cut because he's an iconic character and important to Nintendo and Kirby, not because of Sakurai bias. Mewtwo and Charizard are two of the most popular Pokemon ever so they won't be cut. Also cutting Mewtwo AGAIN after the fans clamored for him back in Smash 4 is such a stupid idea. I'd just play Smash 4 if Smash 5 was that stupid.

Not every gen gets its chance tho. The gen 3 and 5 got no representation at all. We don't exactly know what will happen to Greninja, but we know Mewtwo, Lucario, Charizard, and Pikachu have recurring appearances in the animes and movies, and has been made relevant in the current generation, so we can be confident about their future inclusion.

Yeah, I don't really think that any of the Pokemon will be cut in next Smash (We'll most likely get Smash 4 Pokemon + 7th/8th Gen Pokemon imo), but if some Pokemon is going to be low priority (like Jigglypuff and Mewtwo in Brawl, and possibly Mewtwo in this game if he was planned in the base game), it'll most likely be Greninja, unless he stays relevant and/or becomes an icon like Lucario.
