can Marth Dash Attack Cancel / 'Boost Smash'?

I am using the Wii nunchuck setup with the D-Pad setup to do smashes. With Wario I can
Dash, then hit DOWN on the DPAD (to do the dash attack, and cancel) then I hit UP on the DPAD into an UPSMASH. This does the 'dash attack cancel' move I tried this with Marth and I can't seem to get him to do the Dash Attack Cancel.. any ideas? Can you do the DAC with Marth?

"Boosting Technique: Smash-Boosting (a.k.a. Snake Dashing, etc)
How to Perform: Initiate a dash attack, then do an up-smash during the beginning of the dash attack animation. Timing differs for each character.
Various Methods: C-stick down to initiate dash attack, then Up+Z to do the up-smash; C-stick down, C-stick up; A-button, C-stick up.
Effect: Character slides an absurd distance while simultaneously performing an Up-smash. Up-smash can be charged. Distance traveled varies by character, but is more pronounced than the Jump-Canceled Up-Smash. Can be done with anybody, but the following characters benefit most from this: Jigglypuff, Sheik, Link, Wario, Snake, Falco and Wolf"

I don't know if that right about it working with every character though.

I believe it does work with every character just that Marth barely/doesn't slide at all from it. I tried it with Ike once and when I did regular run>u-smash I got more distance than doing DACUS. So yeah this has led me to believe that every character can perform DACUS.

The boost smash runs off of the initial momentum you get from a dash attack. Notice that characters like Sheik and Snake lunge forward significantly faster than their normal runs. Notice how Marth maintains the same speed (no change), Ike pauses a little (less distance), and G&W goes into freeze frames for his dash attack (COMPLETE loss of momentum).

His boost smash is no different so its not worth risking a dash attack. The shieldbreaker dash sounds great.

with GC controler it is done by dashing, Down C-stick, up Z
