I know there are threads about matchups and whatnot but I want advice for specific things

My friend is a falco player. like most falco players, he enjoys shooting lasers but this is pretty much all he does. he usually does not approach with them but he stays back. when i get close he either wavedashes backwards into more lasers/fsmash, uses fj dair which kills my fj nair approach or any other approaches, or cc shines into comboes. when he does approach with his lasers, i pretty much always have my shield up and he grabs me and i dont know the best way of getting around it. if i get out of my shield i get hit by lasers and if i stay in it i get grabbed. any advice?

Record videos of your games, and I may be able to help.

They way you're describing it, he's just out playing you, lol.

Yea lol use platforms? They help..... And you can always gay him back and just shine if he won't approach....

Basically find ways to use your speed to your advantage

lol, campy falcos. My 3rd least favorite matchup right after puff and samus (but I can go doc on those 2).

you have to rush him down, without running into his priority. Try knocking him down with the shine and then attempting to tech chase / gimp him.

If he goes into the air, u-smash him.

falcos laser can be annoying but they're also slow.

you can slip through them really easily if your proficient at wavedashing/wavelanding on platforms to manuever the stage.

or just shoot back, you'll do more damage than he does

You have a couple of options

1- Learn how 2 power shield lasers

2- use ur shine to reflect his lasers back 2 him( only good if he isnt approaching)

3- hold ur shield then wave dash toward him when there is no laser coming at u.

4- use ur jumps 2 get around the lasers.

5- take the damage a get closer

6- use platform maps( if u can)

7- hold on to the ledge and stall ( make him come 2 you)

8- just sit there and ***** at him! lol.

If he plays falco then he can get gimped hella easy.

learn how 2 just **** him up out side the map.

learn how 2 combo a falco.( play vs CPU's, so u get use 2 how he falls)

Also dont always approach with a N-air. try grabbing him. then up throw.

i suggest using the shine(u can use the up air to, but if u miss he can use his down air to put u back on defense)

after u shine him try 2 approach with a N-air and N-air is *** out of the map.

or u can chain grab falco 2 about 60%, then use Up smash and follow up with up- airs.

Basically u need to learn how 2 get more aggressive.

PS: whenever u see an opening make sure u **** him or else he will just come back and rack up ur damage.

If your up a stock, I usually don't approach Falcos like that, I know I'll win when time runs out....but thats usually tourney.

Grab and techchase Falco to death and combo from shines is what I can tell you.

Uploads some vids soon and it'll be easier to help ya

Learn the spacing elements in this matchup, because falcos lasers occupy so much space at any given time. If you can learn to maneuver through the empty spaces you can approach well.

Wavedash out of shield is very useful for this particular thing.

Sorry this was a bit sureal but the rest of the posts looked trolly and i wanted to give you some meat to work with.

I just hold downb until they come to me. Or I jump up above them and wait on the platform above their head to make them nervous.

^ yeah half the time I just hold shine out until they approach.

also early on approach only with drill / grabs and you can rack up a lot of damage off of 1 u-throw so make it count. cg. up-smash. u-tilt regrab... blah blah lots of possibilities.

also try running in on him shining and then thunder until he learns to get out of it i guess.

cc camping falcos is mad gay but yeah drill grab drill shine, and i might be wrong but i think if you're technical enough (fast enough) you can n-air shine before they can respond to the cc.... i think.

What looks incredibly awesome (I do this when my powershielding is doing good) is Powershield to dshl for funzies. Typically I try to PS to grab or wavedash, but when I'm powershielding really well I do this. Nothing like a 3 laser star wars.

I don't know about a lot of players, but lately it just seems to me that PS is so common (even for attacks) that I usually do completely different things when I PS versus if I just normally shield, even if I PS a shffl or something. I've literally PS a Marth fair -> Jab before he hits the ground to upsmash and stuff like that. PS is amazing.

It sounds like he is playing quite defensively against you, when this happens, you can: Play defensive/offensive back against him until he tires of camping and approaches in. Try approaching him by using platforms (if there is any), and placing your shield up everytime he shoots lasers at you. Then when your close enough, Chain-throw him with some Jump-canceled grabs. If this does not work, try this: Expect him to grab you when you have your shield up; then Shield-grab him when he closes in. He might realize what your trying to do... Throw in some Jabs to stun him too, and some other stuff turning it into Combos when he is close. Try createing some of your own Combos that work successfully to stop him, then repeat that cycle. Hopefully this should stop him in his camping tracks!!

Possibley this should give you some potential advantage against his camping Falco too. Hope I helped.
