Dude, I got my copy of SMG at Sam's club earlier. This game is absolutely insane, omfg. I am going back to the game right now. I feel all gitty just by typing about the game, lol. Gosh I am such a helpless Nintendonian.

Ok, this is driving me crazy. How are people supposedly getting this game already? I asked at my local Best Buy about the early release and was told that Best Buy would be in for a HUGE fine for selling early. I went to Gamestop to see when they would sell the game, and they said the game wouldn't even SHIP until Tuesday so they'd have it Wednesday (strangely, Best Buy said they would sell the game on Monday). This is all very confusing. I want SMG!

clearly, galaxy will get better scores around the board than brawl will. which is better in the real life context of the word and not the screaming fanboy sense of the word will come down to one thing: personal preference.

Both games will sell amazingly, Galaxy has been seen as the true successor to SM64, with Brawl's massive development time compared to Melee it will not only be seen as the successor but the new standard of 2D fighting games.

But honestly if both games were 100% complete and they were released at the same time worldwide, Brawl would win hands down.

Sucks dunnit. I'm going to be holed up in my room for hours on end come Friday.
Yeah it does but it's not that much of a difference in terms of the US release, which is good. I hope the same happens for Brawl but I doubt it.

is the soundtrack ripped yet?

because, you know, it is 10X better than Brawl.
Yeah I've heard the music is practically flawless. But remember Brawl will have a massive music collection.

97% is nothing. Silver found an article that gave it 11 out of 10. It's a couple pages back. Other scores:

IGN 9.7/10

Famitsu 38/40

Gamespot 9.5/10

Official Nintendo Magazine 97%

1UP.com 9.5/10

Gametrailers 9.8/10

Eurogamer 10/10

Game Informer 9.75/10

This game is going to rock my pants.

Gamestop had better not even THINK about pulling **** like that when Brawl comes out. If they do, they'll have plenty of angry smashers on their hands.

As for getting it early, I can wait the last 12 hours before it's released...I'm going to test the waters for Brawl tonight by going out to Wal-Mart after 12 to see if I can get it...

To any Americans getting the game tomorrow, please tell us if the game is really as good as the recent hype suggests it is.

Brawl is going to be better than SMG in the long run. Brawl will be played for years and Galaxy for months. Galaxy is incredible, but it isn't meant to last forever.

Excellent. I shall check it out.

Also, I just HAD to go back and read NintendoWarrior's spoilers from earlier in the thread. I seriously rack of disciprine >_<

However, I do want the game that much more now. Stupid Gamestop and WalMart aren't selling in until Wednesday!

That's really due to the nature of 1P games vs multiplayer games. It's not fair to make a judgment based on that. Brawl will be played for years because it will be incredible, but also because there won't be another game like it for 5-6 more years.

Galaxy is looking like it could take the title of best Mario game EVER, which is a HUGE accomplishment. I'm sure I will personally play Brawl more because I'm a Smash Bros fanatic, but Galaxy will be way up there too. These may be my two new favorite video games.

Brawl undoubtedly has more longevity. However, Galaxy has got me feeling something special, like the feeling I got when I originally bought my N64. Pure giddy 5 year old excitement.

I am hyped about Brawl, but Galaxy just has a spell over me.

I personally think that the lasting appeal of Smash makes it better than Galaxy. Although, for the 1P experience, Galaxy blows Brawl out of the freaking water.

Potential? When people are talking about it in the same breath as Super Mario 64 and SMB3, I think it's lived up to it's potential.

Super Mario 64 is still played today :D So if Galaxy is the true SM64 then it will last a long time.

Wal Mart's not selling it until Wednesday? Either these stores need to kick things into gear and get with the program or they need to stop making game release dates on weekends and Mondays.

Super Mario galaxy is a more like pure adventure game.

Super smash bros brawl is a fighter

and halo 3 is a shooter...

can we really compare these?

OMG, the remixes of all the retro tunes are so... beautiful....

This game has everything so far. Amazing control, enormous variety in locales, clever and innovative platforming, epic music with a lot of throwbacks to old favorites, more powerups than any Mario game ever including SMB3, great graphics... am I missing anything?

Look at it this way, Brawl=Halo 3 and Galaxy=BioShock

Both very great games, 1 game noted for competitve play, and another for just pure awesomeness playthrough.

Brawl is good because it has awesome replay value, considering there will be so many characters to master, and wi-fi makes the game undieable for a long long time.

Galaxy takes all of the mario platforms, no ALL platforms, and makes them look microscopic. But after playing through the game a couple times, getting the best scores, getting all the stars, finding all the hidden portals, and such and such, it will go old.

Galaxy>Brawl in short doses, Brawl>Galaxy in the long run.

CDI is worse than SM64. same breath.
Way to totally twist my point lol.

Galaxy takes all of the mario platforms, no ALL platforms, and makes them look microscopic. But after playing through the game a couple times, getting the best scores, getting all the stars, finding all the hidden portals, and such and such, it will go old.
Then you play it all over again. :) and again lol.

But looking at Galaxy, I'd play it simply because it looks so beautiful.
