Brawl+: How many of you play?

Hello fellow olimainers, just wondering how many of you have played the glory that is Brawl+ yet? So much more fun than normal brawl in my opinion :D

For those of you who like more combo action and technical feel, I suggest you all check it out. I know a lot of you feel similar in playstyle / desire for tech / speed, so I figured I'd do the quick advert in here.

For those that want to know, this codeset is a little outdates now, but here are the values (I now use 8-8.5% hitstun + higher grav, etcetc).

Olimar is good with it, but it's garbage imo.
Don't tell me you use auto l-canceling either.... lol.

I use a lot of mods, auto–L cancelling is fine anyways, considering I manual L cancel any move just fine, (except the manual L code is a bit buggy, and Scancelling is ********).

I do hitstun +10%, fallspeed 1.1, auto–L, no trip, inf replay, no autosweetspot, lagless edges, froze a couple stages, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some other good stuff.

It's too much fun to me, falcon actually good again, yes plz! 4 stock matches under 3 minutes, lots of combos. Way more exciting than dull Brawl.

This is a serious question because I am confused.

Whats wrong with auto l canceling? I would think that brawlers would want to keep it feeling like brawl and that would entail no arbitrary muscle reflexes such as manual l canceling. You guys don't seem to mind the game automatically determining the amount of lag in your moves so why isn't ok for the game to automatically determine the amount of your moves halved? I get the impression that you don't like brawl+ because its "melee 2.0" (it really isn't) yet you are against the brawl form of that code. Am I misunderstanding?

Also, the code space is too precious to add 20 lines to a code that does the exact same thing.

I tried brawl+ awhile back, but no one else wanted to try it so I kinda gave up. It was fun, but I preferred fox over olimar.

I still use inf replay and/or no tripping. Too bad most tournaments are staying away from brawl+ for now.

You can do it, I did it on mine with the most recent update. Look for Makkun's thread with the prepackaged SD card, and then just download the most recent twilight hack that he links to for version 1.4 wii's or whatever it is now. Works just fine, my wii is proof!

When I played it, I played a lot of fox, which was mad fun.
How's olimar in it? I don't just mean good/bad, I mean what are some cool combos and what not.
Also, does manual l-canceling exist? Auto l-cancel sounds kinda dumb.

Not true. Its making brawl into less of a campfest, also with combos. People like you are so misinformed because its so much fun. It's not melee 2.0, it still feels like brawl, just faster paced with a lot more options.

Also Dyne, there is manual L cancelling code, but its a little buggy. AutoL is good because everyone can L cancel anyways, whats the point of forcing the player to do it when all top level players will anyway?

I mean, i like tech games(Gunz and Gears of War 1), but the point is that Brawl is Brawl, and Melee is Melee, people shouldn\'t try to combine it. I prefer how the game was made, who knows when an AT will be found in Brawl.

I assume you didn't play melee if u think brawl is fast?

Also, hitstun is lower when u play with higher fallspeed. Combos are too much fun. The way it should be!!!

Its more than likely that some crazy AT will not be found. To think one will be is kind of silly, I feel. Also, hitstun doesn't seem to be any thing close to how long it was in melee. Is it really that long? It didn't seem like it to me. And shanus, I guess you're right about auto l-cancel. After playing 64 smash for a bit, it completely ruined my AT skill anyway rofl, so I guess I shouldn't mind.

I would rather play normal Brawl. If you are so bored with the real game then you shouldn't bother with Brawl +. Instead, I would rather get good at real Brawl. Melee is Melee and Brawl is Brawl. The designers worked on this game for a long time and I feel that this is Brawl -. Sure Brawl isn't as fast as Melee. Sure there are less techniques. Sure there are less combos, and that is why I like it. It isn't just a battle that is so fast that I can't even see what is going on. Brawl has tactics that aren't "I can exploit a cheap thing that wasn't made for the game!", it makes people think. It isn't, no matter what you do I can get a combo that means instant death. It should be, I might die if I don't plan correctly. It isn't about who is better in Brawl "+", it is about who gets more combos that just kill you. As far as I am concerned, people who play Brawl + aren't good enough at Brawl to enjoy it, don't want to go back to Melee, and are too lazy to get good. Nobody will care that you are the Brawl + champs when you can't even play the real game. Also I think people should be aware of this before they download Brawl +, it is illegal to hack a game, and it is illegal to hack a console. Please consider that before you make the decision. I can tell you that I will never play Brawl + and I don't want to.

"If you're bored with Brawl, don't play Brawl+, get good at Brawl!" You probably meant to say "then play melee instead", which is still a stupid sentence.

The next few lines are just you being absurd and hating on combos. You claim that there are zero deaths everywhere that you can't avoid. You only can't avoid most of them if you get out mindgamed. Once again, you contradict yourself by saying "it shouldn't be about me winning because you can't avoid my death combo, it should be about I might die if I don't plan correctly"....That is what combos are about...I might die if I let them get me into a combo by outplaying me if I don't plan correctly and outplay them.

People like brawl's roster, graphics, stages, etc. People like melee's metagame. Who are you to tell them that a combination is ridiculous. Very few people actually think that brawl+ should replace brawl, get that ****ing idea through your head.

Illegal? I guarantee that you will break the law many many many times in your life, possibly without realizing. These people know that it's "illegal". They also know that there is almost a 0% chance that anything will actually be done about it.

I don't know why I put so much text into refuting your post. You like brawl as it is, fine. I like it as it is too. I enjoy playing brawl, but that doesn't mean I can't have FUN playing a ****ing video game differently sometimes.

Sure there is not alot of tech.it is still there though,just more character precise insted of something everyone can use like wavedashing.
It takes a skilled player to play melee,but it takes a smart person to play brawl.

Skill and intelligence are, more or less, synonymous in video games. The way you apply your knowledge determines the way you play. The better you play is an indicative of your skill, therefore knowledge=skill. (note that this doesn't apply everywhere in life lol). Not to mention that even if you don't view it this way, then it is still unarguable that you need to be smart to play melee as well (ex: Ken, M2K). It's called "mindgames" for a reason.
