F8X -Don't worry, I'm fond of Sonic as well. LIVE AND LEARN!

Banana -Heck yeah, man, K.K. Slider ftw! My favorite songs from him is K.K. Fusion and K.K. Jazz. And I just happen to like the 3:00pm music.

Final Fantasy XII, Okami, and Final Fantasy IX have amazing musical scores.

For licensed music, I'd go with SSX 3 no doubt.

Probably not many of you would know about this but I like a lot of the music from Cool Boarders 2 for PlayStation. It's got a lot of rock. And also Devil May Cry 3 has some cool songs and ambience.

If there's ever any part of a game that I like music, it's mostly the Boss battles. Mostly all the awesomes games manage to capture the intensity of a fight, whether it be on the bow of a flying ship, in an abyss of infinite darkness, in the depths of a cavern of lava, or in the celestial glimmer of a winter wonderland.

Baten Kaitos has some great VIDEO GAME music, but other games like Madden, SSX or THPS have some great band music. (Totally different category)

These are some of my favourites. This was from my old site. (It's REALLY old.) The dr mario ones aren't really my favourites. and the thousand arms one is only on there because I thought it was the actual song with the vocals from the soundtrack. anybody ever heard that song? It's really good, in japanese, but still good.

I'm such a gaming music nerd, most of my playlist is gaming music.

Favorites:

Shadow of the Colossus (truly one of the most beautiful soundtracks ever composed)
Castlevania: SOTN
Final Fantasy VI & VII
Mega Man X
Zelda: LttP & WW

Just some of them right now but those are the first OST's I think of.

So much ****ing Nintendo!

Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Championship 2 make up well over half my playlist. I am a die-hard fan of Kevin Riepl's synthensized symphonic rock. Hell, the Arctic Stronghold theme from UT2004 is still to this day my undisputed favorite song, video game or otherwise, of all time.

You guys should also listen to the battle music in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It's so cool and funky, and it also comes free with 2 dancing Italians.

Espionage games tend to have awesome music.

MGS and Hitman for example.

I agree A-Laon Unreal Tournament music is funky. Even the original Unreal Tournament.

But come on. NO KATAMARI LOVERS!?!?!?

I love Katamari...

Has anyone been to vgmusic.com? It has almost all the music from all of your favorite games and more. But they're MIDI's, so they aren't of the highest quality. I still find it pretty awsome.

Yeah ocremix is the best bunch of remix's you'll ever find! I downloaded "Mertroid Prime: Just a Little More" on the site, and it's simply beautiful.

SNES and N64 were the houses of good game music. Anything from Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, and Super Mario 64 (trust me there are plenty others too) gets two thumbs up in my book.

As for stuff off of www.ocremix.org:

Super Mario Bros 2 remix
Seeking Heat (Super Mario RPG)
Forest Birdcussion (Donkey Kong Country 2)
And best of all, Darkworld Jazz (Link to the Past)

I know of another awesome place to get video game music. Galbadia Hotel. Good stuff.

On that note, I like music from the following:

Donkey Kong series (the Rare ones)
Baten Kaitos
The early Spyro games (1,2,3)
Viewtiful Joe
Sonic games (most of them, specifically 1, 2, and 3)
Mario games (specifically 2, 3, World, and Kart)
Devil May Cry 3
Super Monkey Ball 2
Ocarina of Time
SSBM
Diddy Kong Racing
Street Fighter III
Yoshi's Island/Story
Metroid Prime
F-Zero series

There's more, but...yeah.

Midis are the most useful for me since they are small in size so I use them in games I make
And, if the sequencer is skilled, they can be pretty good quality (Since music on a lot of systems is in MIDI format)
