Because I don't even know who my true friends are and it sucks when I find out someone isn't.

Koga sucks,

In all seriousness, you shouldn't really worry about who likes you and who doesn't like you. If you think being a teenager sucks, then growing up with a lot of responsibilities is going to be a pain for you.

This reminds me of a Mother Teresa quote.
If you are successful you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed Anyway.
But yeah...things happen, and it sucks. You just have to move on and realize mistakes you may have made and learn from them.

Being a teenager with no girlfriend sucks more.
If you add with "no friends", along with it I would agree. Teen love can only last so long, which is not a big deal if you don't have a girlfriend through out high school. It does matter when one dies in front of you... *sniff* T_T

The LAST thing you need is loldrama (i.e. a girlfriend) if you're troubled by things already. You just THINK you need a girlfriend because society convinces you that having a girlfriend makes you cool and somehow fills a hole in your life.

I won't say I've never thought like this before, but it's really overrated to have a relationship.

And yeah, being a teenager certainly seems crappy at the time...and that's not to say that it isn't. But the thing is, the older you get, the more things tend to suck.

Unfortunately, this is not something that will change as you get older. I just discovered that my best friend is a son of a *****. It's funny how someone you've known almost your entire life can betray you in such a fundamental way.

This is a very true fact of life, and probably one of the determining factors in my detachment from people in general.

Nah.

Being pre-teen is where it's at.

If I had a choice to go back to the old days, or keep my intelligence/experiences and moreorless keep everything the same way it is, I'd go with he former in a heartbeat.

I turn 19 soon and I am really missing the High School days. Things were easier. Now I have college and work.
Being a teen was awesome and I wish I could go back a couple years to relive HS.
At the time I hated school, but there's those little things about it that I will never forget.
Dude, you should enjoy your teenage years.
I'm at the end of the line and now it's a cruel adult world I've walked into. You will miss your teen years.

Being a teenager is certainly a joy. We get the freedom we didn't have as a child without the responsibilities of a full grown adult. I would enjoy it while it last. No matter how old you get there will always be those who will break your trust.

In deciding who to trust, trust everybody, just make sure you are the one to cut the cards.

If you meet a girl/guy and have a great connection with them and enjoy your time together and such, then a relationship can be an amazing thing. But if you just get in one out of pressure or something then they're wastes of time. Even if in the first scenario you break up, you still had some good times together. Be happy that you even temporarily made such a bond with another person. If the only thing you ever get from a relationship is regrets, then you'll just end up sad, lonely, and cynical.

Rather than complain about it, do more to turn your not-friends into real friends.

Pick a single friend and do stuff with him after school (every freaking day possible.) If you two don't match well, pick a new friend. Do everything you can to make some true friends. As a side note, experience has shown me that this doesn't work out well with girls, but it can't hurt to try again, right?
You'll know this worked out when they still talk with you even when you've all moved away.

I had this same crisis, but I've realized that the one thing all my poor friendships have had in common is me.

I know what you mean... It's such a stupidly dramatic period of our lives.
Yet, we'll miss 'em. So you better enjoy instead.

Being a teenager with no girlfriend sucks more.
Yes, I totally agree with you, bro :embarrass.

@ People saying it's unnecessary:
It's true, very unnecessary. Drama and ****s. But HEY, MAKING OUT IS FUN.
I sound like an idiot.

It should work. But it still doesn't in certain cases. I made the mistake to do such a thing with a guy I thought that appreciated me a lot.
I opened up once. He ended up backstabbing me. I said: F-U. He apologized like **** and I kind of forgave him. Nowadays, we just hangin' out.

I'm gonna have to agree with BSoD. Once you get into a deeper one, you'll see how powerful a relationship can be.

Ahhh, being a teenager, when you have twice the work, twice the authority placed ontop of you, and twice expectations for you from other people. I don't miss it one bit and never will.

I know what you mean. But you have to be able to tell the differences between "friends" and "acquaintances". It's my last year of High School this year, and there's lots of familiar faces that I can recognize and see on a daily basis. But out of those faces, only a few of them can be called my true friends.

Friends will always be there for you. Short and simple. They're there with you during the hardest of times and the easiest, the fun times and the hard times, they were there to sing you a birthday song on during Sweet 16th and they were there to cheer you up when you had your first breakup :p.

Point is, they were there for you, and not just for show. They stepped up to the plate to show you what they were made of, to show you that they had your back. Look back and recall the ones who stood up you during all those times, not just the ones that were there during your "15 minutes of fame."

Call me smart, call me stupid, that doesn't matter to me. This is all from my experience, and I'm trying to pass to you what I know works from my experience. I wish you the best of luck when looking for your true friends, and I hope you will always share the best memories with them. They're not just your friends in school, they're your friends for life.

Definitely this.

Enjoy this part of life while you can, and don't worry about people who aren't genuine.

You'll miss it when its gone, trust me.

Trust me.

Except poor friendships are not always your fault at all. In fourth grade this guy I had been friends with for the past year decided to start making fun of me and generally just being a jerk.

I still don't know why, but even if it was my fault in some way, there's no way in hell I'm going to try and reconcile it with someone who's being a total jerk and basically bullying me.

Blaming everything on yourself isn't the way to go. Then if someone starts being a jerk just because they are one, you blame it on yourself, try to fix it, they're more of a jerk to you, and then you're even more screwed.

Maybe, but no matter how powerful they are, they are not insta-fixes to life and even with a deep relationship they cause a lot of stress and require a large time commitment. They are NOT magic things which make teens' lives better, which is how everyone seems to act.

Why do a lot of people seem to want to be a teen again? I was much happier past my teen years, sure they are fun to look back on but I'm not wishing to relive them. So there are responsibilities, as long as you stay on top of em you can just take em in stride. You may struggle at first, but mostly everyone does. If achieving successful independence were easy it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment.

It's different for everyone I guess, but to me the older I get, the more things improve.

Try to stay positive GwJumpman.

If you're only dating for the physical benefits, you shouldn't be dating.

basing all relationships after one short one is a waste.
You're right :urg:

I'm just being a downer, because I really liked her.

I'm gonna have to agree with BSoD. Once you get into a deeper one, you'll see how powerful a relationship can be.
I hope I can experience that in the next four years. I've had long relationships, but never a "deep" one.

I'm just kidding. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been after my best friend during 4 years in a row. I would've picked up the other cute girls that liked me. But unfortunately/fortunately, I'm not that kind of guy. Which made me go through years of bull**** instead lol.

It actually isn't part of being a teenager.

I didn't say to vainly try to become friends with people. I actually said that if you don't seem to be getting along really well with a friend, then you can try someone else...

Not even I would "blame" myself if a friend started being a complete ***. Who would? :ohwell:

If my friend started being an *** to me, I would not "blame" myself. I would try to see what his problem is. If I'm the problem, I would continue to talk with him. This is usually enough to solve most problems, but if this ever fails, I would leave him be.

It's just better for you to start taking action rather than complain about why your friends aren't as good as you expect them to be. You have to be a good friend to make good friends.

Do the most that you can while you are a teenager, it's one of the only times during your life you get to have the most fun. I want those years back...
