I know what you mean. But you have to be able to tell the differences between "friends" and "acquaintances". It's my last year of High School this year, and there's lots of familiar faces that I can recognize and see on a daily basis. But out of those faces, only a few of them can be called my true friends.
Friends will always be there for you. Short and simple. They're there with you during the hardest of times and the easiest, the fun times and the hard times, they were there to sing you a birthday song on during Sweet 16th and they were there to cheer you up when you had your first breakup

.
Point is, they were there for you, and not just for show. They stepped up to the plate to show you what they were made of, to show you that they had your back. Look back and recall the ones who stood up you during all those times, not just the ones that were there during your "15 minutes of fame."
Call me smart, call me stupid, that doesn't matter to me. This is all from my experience, and I'm trying to pass to you what I know works from my experience. I wish you the best of luck when looking for your true friends, and I hope you will always share the best memories with them. They're not just your friends in school, they're your friends for life.
