Okay if everyone has a clear head for a moment let’s keep this in mind that just because a Brand New Banjo-Kazooie game is not gonna happen does not have any affect towards Shinobi’s hint towards Banjo Coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC, which is exactly the Endgame to this to bring both of them back to relevancy.

Banjo being "dead" has little to no influence on him getting in Smash.
Metal Gear is dead and will stay dead,
Sonic is... let's just say he's past his prime,
Namco hasn't been doing anything significant with Pac-man for years,
Megaman literally got resurrected by Smash,
Castlevania hasn't had anything big in years, and Simon specifically hasn't had any recent big role as far as I know,
Cloud clearly got added because of the original Final Fantasy VII, not because of the remake that's not even out yet,
Bayonetta and Persona are current, but they're not exactly mainstream.

This idea that every 3d party franchise featured in Smash must be some extremely big deal, incredibly popular with current gamers is kinda... based on nothing? The only one that may fit the "rule" is Ryu.
And even Ryu is here because of Street Fighter II (his appearance is even based on that game), not because of Street Fighter V.
I kinda feel like the guest characters have always been for passionate gamers, I think they'll stay so, and I think that Banjo certainly fits next to all the others.

This doesn't mean that Nintendo actually went trough with it, though.

To play Devil's Advocate, the schedule listing the Direct may just be for Minecraft Dungeons since it's coming to the Switch iirc.

That being said I'm still expecting Erdrick and Banjo on Tuesday, but I just don't think the schedule means too much in theory.

Uh, first time posting in this thread, but I'll just say Banjo still has a chance. Nothing so far has hinted to the duo's publicity being in vain, but it would be a shame for Shinobi to have lied, although I doubt it. A lot of recent activity from the franchise itself does seem to do little, though. It's not over yet, but I will bank on the two getting their time for once. Hoping no rift will divide this site by the time E3 rolls around.

The schedule doesn't mean anything, they do the exact same thing every year. This time it looks weird because Sony's not on it, but that's because they're not attending E3.

I don't think it's likely that we'll get a Banjo-Kazooie game at Nintendo's E3 but... Never say never. Microsoft has become a one of a kind company who will pull a rabbit out of their hat for no apparent reason and Banjo at Nintendo is something I could see them doing. Don't hype yourself up for disappointment, but do keep an open mind. It could still happen.

The credible rumors have always been specifically about Banjo in Smash.
The way Shinobi worded his infamous post kind of implies that Banjo and Kazooie won't get anything else, even.

I'd imagine this place isn't as crazy as everyone makes it out to be (at least in the past) as well. I would take Banjo in addition to Erdrick, but I'm just waiting to see if either shows up first.

Also I see no reason to lose hope. Smash announcement was always going to be the Nintendo conference. Even a new game of sorts could be in the Nintendo direct to tie in with the Smash announcement.

For others, toxic Banjo fans have pissed on them for liking Steve, so now they’re against Banjo in general.

My thoughts about the merch coming out for Banjo Kazooie:

1) Maybe there really is no tie in for it. Maybe banjo is so beloved that simply it's own inclusion into Smash warrants it and I'm cool with that. It has an amazing legacy and I'm glad it's getting merch regardless

2) Less likely but still plausible: Rare Replay port to switch.

3) His inclusion in smash may revive the series in the future.

So I'm optimistic. Also looking forward to seeing remixes to the songs for smash!

Here's how I'm looking at this whole thing

• If Banjo is in, everything's good and it's business as usual regarding DLC
• If it turns out Banjo isn't there, either he's a later DLC character (probably 3, 4, or 5) or Banjo was used as very convincing leak bait to snuff out whatever sources the leakers we're following are getting their info from and destroy their credibility (I hope the second one isn't the case because even though I never owned an N64, much less played Banjo Kazooie, using that as leakbait just seems like a major **** move IMHO)

For the record, I don't really expect Smash stuff on the Square-Enix conference either.

But I will watch it for any possible details on FF7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts. You know, like any perfectly reasonable person would do.

Slime is a more charismatic character than Erdrick and the "face" of Dragon Quest, but I'm not super into the idea of making it playable. A humanoid character sounds more fun.

It didn't change anything because a game was never a part of the rumor. It's all about Smash from what we know by Shinobi's hint.

It’s also worth noting that Vergeben recently leaked stuff for Xbox’s conference, and a smidge of Nintendo’s direct.

He made a point to note he doesn’t know if two characters are revealed, or which fighter is 2 or 3. And in the future, won’t know which fighter is 4 and 5 as they are developed around the same time. No matter what happens, Banjo or Erdrick, the next reveal *after* E3 will be the nail in the coffin. Even if banjo makes more sense for a western event.
