No Banjo at Microsoft's conference would eliminate any potential argument that the info Shinobi posted was somehow confused with a remake or new game so for the first time I'm hoping AGAINST Banjo being at the MS conference.

I just want him in Smash first and foremost.

Something else we have to think about. Nintendo has stated that all DLC characters will be released before February 2020.

Going by that, Piranha Plant was released in February, counting them there are 6 Planned DLC characters. What does this mean? Well, it means that at the very least, considering the 12 months from PP's release to February 2020 there is going to have to be a character released at least every 2 months. It's been 2 months since Joker's release. Whoever the 2nd DLC character is, it is likely we are going to get them immediately after the Direct; like they did with Ryu, Lucas, and Roy, or the week following. Meaning that we COULD get a second character announcement alongside the approaching character.

What I'm saying is, we'll likely get a character RELEASE within the next week or so. MEANING if they want to uphold a sense hype and pacing we COULD get an announcement for who we will get in August because they very rarely do another Direct so close to E3, often choosing to wait till September which is usually a big Direct month.

I think we are getting two announcements. I really REALLY do.
This is a good theory. I expected it to be 1 in April (Which was Joker), 2 in August, 1 in October/November, then the final one in January/Feb 2020. I think either one can work though. Banjo or Erdrick are revealed at E3, in August there’s a short Smash Direct with one of them dropping alongside the other being the surprise drop.

He had another completely different statement.
Cloud was released on 15th but the 16th is close enough for me. Tansut is now Erdrick's most credible source for the moment.

The irony of this is I remember the detractors saying “Maybe the insiders saw teaser footage of Ridley in a MP4 teaser and got confused” last year lol. Once again this is reminding me of Ridley’s situation.

Sabi is literally leaking the E3 Microsoft presentation RIGHT NOW. This is so tense. Hoping for some Banjo leaks.

Another thing that may bode well for our duo. This is all conjecture, though, but we're bored so I've decided to share it.

One of the reasons Banjo never felt likey at all was also Sakurai's apparent apathy towards Rare stuff. Especially after how Smash 4 treated DKC, there was all the reason to think that Sakurai just wasn't a fan of Rare's games at all.
But if you think about it...
-Sheik's side B back in Melee was straight up taken from how Simon uses his whip in Castlevania IV
-Ike's final smash has always been inspired, if not kinda ripped-off, from Cloud's Omnislash
-Zero Suit Samus' redesign in Smash 4 owes something to Bayonetta's fighting style
-Smash Ultimate's menu design is apparently inspired by Persona 5's menu design

Of course, later Simon, Cloud, Bayo and Joker all got in, and it turned out that Sakurai was a fan of all those franchises all along.
Now, if we look at Duck Hunt, it's obvious that the inspiration must have been Banjo-Kazooie. The dog and the duck were never even paired in the original game, and the way they move and attack in tandem is very reminiscent of the way bear & bird do it.
So what I'm trying to say is, Sakurai may secretly a Banjo fan, ahah.
Well and of course, if he has some passion for a franchise, it's more likely that it will get included in Smash.
Don't also forget this alternate costume for Duck Hunt. Coincidence?

Oh damn. Here we go!

But even if we don’t hear any Banjo stuff in Microsoft’s presentation I still don’t think that by any means rules out Banjo stuff in/on Nintendo products.

If new B-K stuff isn’t announced during Microsoft’s conference, I think Nintendo could announce ports of their games and maybe Rare Replay in the Direct.

Yeah, this is something i noticed. Sometimes i theorize that some character evoke tropes and ideas that Sakurai likes to toy with. For this reason i see Ryu Hayabusa as a Dark Horse, since he could have a similar fighting style to Shiek and Greninja.

Also if nothing about Banjo is announced at Microsoft's event, then there's much less of a chance that there could be confusion about Shinobi's Banjo post being about new games or a remake. There could also be a ports on the Switch and Rare Replay on the Switch as well that only Nintendo announces.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Shinobi teased Banjo a mere week before E3.

Shinobi was directly referencing Smash, wasn't he? On one hand, it is good when Microsoft shows nothing Banjo because of less confusion - on the other hand, the more Banjo, the more better.

Rare Replay is an incredibly odd case. There is essentially no way that we get the original set of games, for one major reason: In the original, a good ten or so of them weren’t actually ports, and instead just 360 games that used backwards compatibility.

So instead, I’d expect something more along the lines of “Donkey Kong & Banjo’s Rare Replay” which removes those, Conker, and Perfect Dark, while including a bunch more Nintendo-published Rare games, like the entire DKC/64 series and DKR.

Either way, the scariest thing about this is that Shinobi is putting his credibility and reputation at risk if Banjo doesn’t happen so he’s either extremely confident or he’s MTP 2.0 which is unlikely since he’s an Admin.
So if there are no remakes of Kazooie/Tooie then were all those figures, like the First4Figures, Totaku, and Cable Guy, really Banjo’s Smash design all along?
My exact theory, it was their Smash designs all along and nobody wanted to realize it because it’d be grasping at straws.

Remember, Vergeben staked his credibility on Banjo too.

99% is a total endorsement as far as I'm concerned. Nobody is going to say "oh but that 1%".

I would not mind a Banjo remake or game on the Xbone or the Nextbox at all. Kinda think that option's being completely underappriciated here -the Xbox One X is already able to do native 4K, and that's a feature Microsoft's likely to feature with the Nextbox / "Scarlet". That's an angle Microsoft could concievably push - sure the Crash / Spyro remakes are in HD, but in this scenario Microsoft can claim that the B-K remake can be in both HD and 4K.

And if people here clamor for more kids to become Banjo fans, well, seeing the classic designs in 4K would only help a lot there.

If Banjo gets in does anyone think we might get a Mumbo Mii costume? Or do you think it will just be other Rare/Microsoft stuff like Minecraft that gets representation?

I'd love a Banjo remake in theory, but it's by far the least exciting thing they could do with the character IMO.

The N64/XBLA versions look and play amazing still so it wouldn't really be "new" if that makes sense. If the remake was on the Switch at least that would be portable but I want something new after all this time.

If Erdrick is leakbait and Sora is out, than that means we are getting either Geno or Crono which are like the best two options from SE.
At this point I'm sure Square Enix doesn't like Geno and doesn't want him playable in Smash.

Yes, that's true, I'm just going with what I consider realistic for the time being. It's not likely that Microsoft has assembled a new dev team that's as confident as old Rare, so them pulling an Activision might be the best course of action. The remake, in this scenario, lets the new Banjo devs get comfy with the old games, maybe put in scrapped content (like a fully fledged Stop N Swop, perhaps expanding on several aspects like Grunty's Tower in Tooie into a full level with 10 new Jiggies etc.) so they can go into Threeie as an actual confident dev team.

I'd say no Banjo at Microsoft may be an indication of no Banjo in Smash. Could have all been group think. While I'm expecting something Banjo to be shown at E3, either from Microsoft or Nintendo's conferences, I anticipate nothing happening, which is a possibility. Ideally, Microsoft presents a tease for Banjo's new game, followed by a tease of Banjo in Smash, Bowser comes out on stage to talk about their partnership and to watch their Direct for more info. Though given Sakurai's statements, I doubt that'll be the case.

But I agree, out of everything, I just want Banjo in Smash. But I'm not rooting for nothing at Microsoft, as I want more from the bear and bird, just not expecting it.

Good luck, ya'll!

For my money there is absolutely no way that there is a Smash reveal at a Microsoft conference, let alone one where they're revealing a brand new console. Doesn't matter how buddy buddy you are with one of your competitors, that's just not going to happen unless Smash Ultimate is coming to a Microsoft platform. Which, it isn't.

You are correct, I was trying to figure out a way that both my Source's Microsoft Source that was telling us Banjo was "in for sure" and the insiders saying "Incineroar" and the piles of evidence the Grinch Leak was gaining could all make sense together.

I theorized it may have been that Banjo was negotiated for last E3 and Sakurai may have last minute moved Incineroar to DLC to make room for Banjo in base game and may have spent from last E3 until launch trying to get Banjo done in time or something. Trying to figure out some way that my Banjo Source, Incineroar, and the Grinch Leak could all be true information. Now of course the Grinch Leak was simply a fake with a lot of extraneous coincidences that lined up in its favor that made it seem unable to be faked (you couldn't fake several of the coincidences that happened for it, for example: the unknown at the time sprout item being shown off that week and the isaac part of the image having a vine was completely coincidental and outside the fakers hands), it got very lucky with several things making it seem real.

I won't jump the gun and say Banjo is in until im totally sure BUT it does seem Banjo is very likely right now... so yeah I might be the one person who had insider information who believed "the Grinch Hoax", However if Banjo is actually coming I hope that helps people understand why I did believe it. A big part of why I did was because of Banjo being on it.
I agree with you, I definitely think your source was legit. I think Banjo being shown will validate your claims, lol.

I think its totally the opposite, if banjo doesnt show up here, them we can be sure that Shinobi was talking about his inclusion on smash, not anything else, but since my english is pretty bad and people tend to rash anyone who doesnt type properly, i'm gonna save you the trouble.

Cloud was released on 15th but the 16th is close enough for me. Tansut is now Erdrick's most credible source for the moment.

Keep in mind the 15th and 16th would be the same time depending what part of the world you're in, so it's still accurate.

Though I'm guessing that's what you meant?

.........am i allowed to post something from Sabi if i put it in a spoiler like this?
Though you figured it out, that's a yes. As the owner of the topic didn't post a spoilers warning, please post all leaks in spoilers. Including replies to a leak. We want this to be in spoilers for those who don't want to know till official release.

To clarify something, leaks are not "public" information by any means. They're rumors or information that was always supposed to be kept secret till it's officially released by the actual company who gives out the information.

Yeah, I was just searching for the exact day which is the 15th/16th so yeah, Tansut's cloud leak does indeed has more to it than just saying Cloud is in. I rewatched the November 2015 direct and that doesn't reveal a release date for Cloud so that does prove Tansut does have insider info.

So to recap, Banjo was teased by Shinobi, a ResetEra admin who is highly credible and has been correctly leaking things for years, a week before E3 using the exact same words he used to leak Ultimate before it was announced.

Since then the following insiders have either hinted at Banjo, think he's in, or have heard "rumors":

GameXplain (Jon in particular seems to be very set on Banjo and he also has a good track record)
Imran Khan (Senior editor at Game Informer)
Rand Al-Thor (he seems to have Xbox connections?)

Am I missing anyone?

Heck, even Vergeben is very sure of Banjo, though I don't think he knows the Smash DLC. Sabi seemed to vouch for Verge's source, though.

Erdrick only has Tansut, who only has the Cloud leak to his name. He likely has a friend at Square, and it's entirely possible that the whole Square thing was leakbait.
