Oh, that is a nice avatar, Voe Voe .

I really hope they aren't announcing only one new character at E3. Because, if so, Banjo's chances of appearing have been cut in half! Good God, I had a pretty lousy burger for lunch earlier and my stomach does not need the increased anxiety right now.

well, this does hurt banjo announced at Microsofts tommorow.... or does it. They could show the teaser trailer(like jokers) tommorow, and go into all the detail Tuesday. Then they could still tease the next one(again, another Joker like trailer

Also, I like item battles a bit more. More interesting, and people need to think on their feet.
Banjo wasn’t going to be announced at Microsoft’s conference. At most either Microsoft announces his new game/remake at their conference or they wait till Nintendo’s.

Here's a video by Sakurai announcing it by the way:

Part of me tells me it's not Banjo............and not Erdrick either.

Remember, Simon was confirmed in the August Direct, not E3, so don't lose yo-ah who am i kidding Tuesday will be an Apocalypse.

I know Saks implied that there’s only one character announcement on Tuesday but nothing suggests that we won’t atleast get a confirmation of Fighter #3’s development and maybe a shadow drop.

So, my personal take on this: I think it's still very much possible that we get two characters revealed, either both in the Direct or the second one happens a bit later. So, let's keep our fingers crossed for Banjo-Kazooie, who frankly have a LOT more going for them right now than Erdrick does.

Oh trust me, Nintendo knows we want our lovable duo a lot.

And now things get tense until Tuesday, unless we get a surprise
I just want Character#2 to be available for download at E3 because that would really make E3 super hype in my opinion and waiting another month for The Second character would put a damper on things

i had hoped since Joker was announced ahead of schedule that The second character was further along in development than Him

Yes.
Only the one dlc reveal huh. Oh boy Tuesday is going to be a mad house regardless if Banjo gets announced or not.
Those are the best Directs, but this time is special for the insane ammount of hype around. Just one shot. Probably till the final fighter we won't reach at this level.

To clarify with the Japanese language, they don't have a difference for singular or plural. That means he could've meant one or two characters reveals due to how translating works. Don't take the translation too seriously here.

There will only be one fighter reveal during the direct because the other one will be during the Microsoft conference.

"Next DLC Fighter"
Singular
Fighter

No double reveal, it's only gonna be one
Guys, guys, you're forgetting one crucial detail: the Japanese language doesn't distinguish between singular and plural! It's context-sensitive!

Bam. Worries assuaged. We're getting two characters. Three, if Erdrick's there too. GET IT? Ha ha ha!

Well, this shakes things up a bit. Doesn't the japanese language only have singular words though? Like "Ice Climbers" would be "Ice Climber" in japanese, this could just be a direct translation since he would have said "fighter" even if he meant "fighters". I could be wrong, I only know what my weeb friends tell me about the language lol.

My opinion on the one DLC character at the Direct, to be honest, there is always a surprise that could be seen in the Direct, a surprise DLC character, that is. You never know. Maybe Sakurai implied one to throw us off when he didn't count the surprise character in addition to the next DLC fighter. Just a thought.

Starting to lose faith guys (though there wasn't much to begin with). Can y'all give me a recap of all the "evidence" we have of anything BK related happening at all at E3?

I was sure that there were going to be two character reveals, but now it's confirmed it's just one.

We have Tansut claiming Erdrick.

We have Shinobi and a bunch of other insiders teasing and hinting at Banjo. They all seem sure it's him, and they're putting their reputation on the line with this one.

It still would seem odd to announce Erdrick at a primarily Western themed event, but you never know with Nintendo.

Singular and plural in Japanese are context-sensitive. You know what else is context-sensitive? Those pads in Conker's Bad Fur Day, which was made by Rare, who also made Banjo. Oh my God! It's all coming together!

Very true but as PushDustin said on Twitter, it's best to assume 1 and be surprised by 2.

Yeah, I personally felt there was no chance in hell that Banjo-Kazooie in Smash would be revealed at Microsoft's conference; it's primarily Nintendo's game that they'd be guest-appearing in, so it's completely in Nintendo's right to unveil them themselves if the duo are actually in.

Well, here's the thing. He said, "As for me, I'll be continuing my work on the next DLC fighter[,] and more information regarding that will be shared in the Nintendo Direct for E3 2019[,] so I hope you're looking forward to it."

Sakurai is working on a DLC Fighter (which for all we know isn't even DLC Fighter 2) and we'll see more information regarding it in the Nintendo Direct. This does not preclude getting information about DLC Fighter 3.

Woof. Best case scenario is that fighter 2 is finished and he’s referring to 3 whose not nearly as ready for gameplay, which he’d talk a bit about (in terms of release schedules perhaps?) Unlikely but fighter 2 should be nearly done by now..

HaHAA what if Sakurai determined who got reveal by which side won the tourney :teeth: /s

Microsoft also had weird wording about inviting SOMETHING to E3. Maybe they Literally invited a real Banjo.

His tweet is a bit... different.

https://twitter.com/Sora_Sakurai/status/1137514442143326208 "Then, at 1 am on the 12th, Nintendo Direct reported that there was an announcement of the new fighter. Please watch it!" when quickly translated by Google. This might be a bit more clear than anything else. But just like said before, it could be a language barrier. What this confirms otherwise is yes, we're getting a strict e3 Nintendo reveal.

Yes.
Better don't wait for more than 1. Smash Bros isn't the main game this year, a lot about Mario Maker 2 and Animal Crossing and another titles are going to be the stars.
Insiders are backing Banjo, nothing more, and the rest of the fighters are well spaced till 2020 at 2-3 months each.

I don't really see how this changed anything. The odds are the exact same as before, in my opinion.
Of course the last days will be particularly tense, though.

My takes about the teases:
The "...ah. It turned into a fake smash ball" was just Sakurai's way of saying "oh, so you were hoping to get an announcement now? Too bad, ****ers, you'll have to wait until tuesday!"
The "what or who" thing may be more interesting for speculation.
