Okay guys, gonna need you guys to RT this and spread it out

Vin here made up a pretty extensive doc detailing everything about Banjo-Kazooie and their chances of joining the fight in Smash. Let's show some support
Here's some things I think are worth adding to the Microsoft x Nintendo segment:

zellhalo.png

king zell is pretty much the most reliable insider around Era (alongside Emily) and he basically spelled out that Halo of some kind is coming to Switch, which shows a deeper commitment to Switch on Microsoft's part.

A respected industry sales specialist by the name of Benji also hinted at more Xbox games hitting the Switch.

Keep supporting Xbox games on Switch

And I'm pretty sure you will get more of them

That's a good aggregate of info, I never knew about the Banjo in Mario Paint part.

Perhaps he should include the IndieGamerChick claims. Unless I missed them.

I'm assuming based on Vin's article that if Banjo is in he's an E3 reveal. The early October meeting for upcoming games would be to negotiate for Banjo and the late March meeting to talk about E3 plans to discuss how the reveal will go down. So if Banjo is in, either he is the character after Brave, or we're waiting until E3 for the next reveal. I think the most likely scenario for how things will play out is Erdrick this month in a direct with Joker and Banjo reveal at E3.

Incidentally, Ori has been a guest character on Rivals of Aether, and THAT game is being considered getting a Switch port...

I don't think Grant's tweeting habits are accurately represented in this document. I just checked and he's definitely replied to a handful of tweets about Banjo this year. I just dont see significance either way in regards to his habits (although I'm very suspect of that "Everything is awesome!" tweet)

The one whose tweeting habits the document did not talk about enough, though, were Phil Spencer's. He's been silent on Banjo in smash since Mar 2018, despite bringing them up in a tweet and an interview during the Smash 4 ballot, as well as in a Mar 2018 tweet. Silence since though

I like how the Erdrick paper can be simply summed up with "Japan and Sakurai like Dragon Quest"

Silence doesn't honestly seem too strange for someone who replied twice in four years.

My sources are telling me Banjo will be joining Smash Brothers, and will be voiced by Ian McDiarmid.

It's possible her track record isn't up to snuff by this dude's standards. I agree that her words on the matter are very worthy of being a part of this collection of info. Though her stuff with Polarpanda is more along the lines of rumors. Then again the way they were taken down and then backtracked on is very telling of their "authenticity."

That might be enough in their case. If anything Edrick and Joker is simply put in to pander to the Japanese crowd and satisfy Sakuri's pet project sensablities. I do highly doubt that all 5 DLC packs are going to just be what Sakurai personally wants. Joker is partially that way too, though Persona has a strong base in the west. If anything Banjo could be the purely western pick to focus on the US and UK fan base with a bit of following in Japan. Sakurai does know about the Western market, and Banjo would be the perfect homage and acknowledgement to the dedicated western base.

I've noticed that people doing that generally just validates the personal belief of the individual, whether for or against the claims.

Funny how that document doesn't mention Battletoads at all. I'm still inclined to think Rash could be the big upset reveal for Microsoft's fighter contribution.

But come on, there's only one Rare IP Phil Spencer has ever rooted for before, right?

I think the Battletoads are basically everyones pocket pick in this race if Banjo doesn't make it in. I think that's why they are not talked about so much here. Honestly Banjo is in the front in that race for me because they need some time in the spotlight. Battletoads are already getting another game where Rash was in KI. Phil wants to bring the Bear and Bird back, this is undeniable, but if Rash gets in i'll be fine with that.

Well, it's not the GameFreak who develops the DLC.

Also using a bad guy to promote a game sounds like a really weird business decision. It's like those "Porky in Smash to promote Mother 3 localization". I don't think it's a train of thought that I can take seriously.
I mean Porky is the basically the face of Mother 3 outside of Lucas, the mastermind behind the game's entire plot. Because of this, I don't think it'd be completely ridiculous for Porky to promote a Mother 3 localization...

I would be cool with having Rash from Battletoads joins Smash they are absolute brawlers that would fit perfectly But I still don't see them making it over Banjo-Kazooie.

While Battletoads was Rare's really 1st major IP that somewhat caught on that was during the NES era before their partnership with Nintendo, Battlemaniacs came out a year before Donkey Kong Country too and that's the game that put Rareware on the map and really solidfy their partnership.

Outside of Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie is Rare's most biggest, popular, beloved IP and the one franchise that really best represents their collabaration with Nintendo via publishing, marketing and promoting since it was during Rare's Prime during the N64 era and created from the "Core" DKC team.

Battletoads is finally getting a new game since the early-mid 90's when Beat em up's were a bigger deal unlike now. (I believe "Arcade" was their last release and that was outside of consoles) ,But it looks like it's going to be more of a AA/Lower budget release seeing how it's being handled by a smaller studio almost on the same level of the Killer Instinct reboot.

Battletoads would probably be my "Under the Radar Pick" if Banjo-Kazooie doesn't make it in and neither of the more obvious Microsoft and Rare choices.

I hate to rain on people's parade on this leak but it is apparent that modders have already made stuff in Smash Ulti. It's very much possible that this leak is just some mod someone made with Moon Runes to make it look legit. Hell, it could be real and most of us getting gritched has made us too skeptical. Until more details arrive, im passing this into the dust bin.

Welcome to another episode of "Holy **** there are so many guests in this thread again" feautring NOT Speedwagon, tonight we have a special essay reveluating Banjo's merit in Smash, the possibility of Rash screwing over Banjo, and learning that Banjo was in a Mario Paint game.
I like how the Erdrick paper can be simply summed up with "Japan and Sakurai like Dragon Quest"
I mean.....you're not wrong. Albeit it would be more like "Sakurai and Japan really really REALLY like Dragon Quest".

You say that, but I'm gonna be honest. I have no idea what the battletoads are...

What's the best way to put them....hmmm...well I suppose you can call them Rares attempt at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles formula. Rash is one of...3 I think, his bros being Pimple and Zitz. Their games were side scrolling beat-em-ups where their gimmicks involve their limbs and various body parts morphing into things like hammers, anvils, and even a rams head for charging attacks. Rash was a fighter in Killer Instinct and now they got a game coming out this year. Not to jinx it though, Rash fits smash very well. I dont think they have much music aside from their theme, but I can see him working. If I weren't a Banjobro I'd totally be a Toadbro first.

Yea, nothing here confirms anything halo coming to switch. And what he said was for the last direct, the one with the LA remake, yet nothing came of it.

I feel like if Banjo’s going to be in Smash, their look of the recent Totaku figure and First4Figures statue would essentially be what they’ll look like. Rare pin on their backpack included.

I just posted this in the Social Thread.
So, cool bit of trivia:

Did you know that there has never been a Super Smash Bros. Game that didn't credit Rare/Rare Ltd.?

Every single Smash game; 64, Melee, Brawl, 3DS, Wii U, and Ultimate all have credits given to Rare. In Smash 64 and Melee they were credited for the Design of DK, The Blast Barrels, the Motion Sensors from Perfect Dark (long story), and compositions. All following Smash games would only credit Rare for Compositions. All from the DK series.

It's just weird to think that Rare has ALWAYS been a part of Smash's DNA. Even after the buy out, they were and are still there. In the credits.

God, every time I see that name it makes me wonder if they'll finally loop around to make Banjo a reality like he should've been in 64 or Melee. It'd be poetic at the very least.
It is a really cool bit of trivia that despite everything Rare has been in the DNA and still is since 64. No lie when I first turned on Smash 64 I was like, "Where's Banjo?" And was certain one of the 4 hidden characters was him. I was... 4 then? I got Melee for my following Birthday and was like, "Ok, he has to be in this one!" Yet, no dice. I really hope he makes it in DLC. I've been waiting for way too long...

...no? He made the "Mario on Playstation" comment after the February Direct, in the middle of March.

And what else do you think "Mario on Playstation" equals to? Sony certainly isn't going to be putting their big IPs on Switch.

IIRC Jason Schrier was very skeptical of MCC coming to the Switch. The equivalent of "Mario on playstation" could mean any number of things. Could even be something like a Microsoft rep on Smash for all we know.

We went over this, Jason Schreier doesn't have any inside info about MCC being on Switch, it was just that he personally doubted it himself. It's not the same thing as him coming out and saying his sources are telling him that Persona 5 is probably not coming to Switch.

I agree on the last paragraph, Sony would never put their own exclusives on anything other than a Playstation and one can argue that while Sony certainly has big time exclusives, They relied more on a stable of great characters and franchises rather than an official mascot, they never really had long-term iconic and official face since the launch of their own Playstation brand unlike Nintendo and Microsoft.

So by process of elimination and with the whole partnership going on all signs point towards Microsoft's Xbox exclusives and what's the biggest franchise that Microsoft has in their arsenal that not only has made an impact in the industry for FPS and online multiplayer, But is also considered an icon and face of the Xbox brand?

That answer is Halo and it would be the biggest name and rival exclsuive to come over to Nintendo ever since Sega went 3rd Party and started putting Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Gamecube.
