The fact that it's 4Chan kills it
/v/, rather, one has to specify when denouncing a dubious source.

I never even said I believed it. Just defending some of the attention to detail they did. So I think you all got the wrong idea of what I was implying.

ESRB happened on 4chan and so did the plant. So I wouldn't dismiss absolutely everything posted on there.
In any case, that post is young enough, so it shouldn't take too long until we know whether it's real or not.

Aside from the spelling of Crono's name, there are no issues with this leak. However, don't get too confident that it's real, because you know what happened the last time.

I'm not going all in on a leak like this. I'd only care for Banjo, but, Crono is a very cool idea. I'd also be happy for the Augomon guy here too.

Either way, I still think Banjo and Steve both have a solid shot.

Speaking of Steve I think he’s either leak bait or a mii costume given what Ovaltine and Fatmanonice said

So since IndieGamerChick has a collection named after her, I'm gonna assume she's in a good position in the company and is telling the truth about what she's heard.

Gonna throw the "she isn't credible" stuffs in the trash and at least consider her words since I know she got a few things about Smash wrong. Hearing Banjo is more-likely true than the past stuff she said because she's with Microsoft.

I'm a bit lost on this whole IndieGamerChick situation. What credibility does she have (like what company does she work for)?

/v/ leak appears to be someone using technical jargon to make users think the evidence is more credible than it actually is. Agumon in Smash would be great though.

Very, very interesting developments including this one right here. Massive grain of salt and keep expectations tempered, but that is very intriguing, and it would not be the first time people have heard Banjo from Microsoft sources. Whether or not it's true is what we need to wait and see for.

That being said, I'm sure that 4chan leak is fake. That is very easy to fake if you have even basic knowledge of Javascript and JSON coding, not to mention basic Photoshop skills. It's a creative leak for using something that hasn't been used much for fake leaks, though. I'd give it a 6/10.

Uh i don't know if i would trust this indiechick, she has gotten a lot o things wrong as far as I've heard. For the sake of getting banjo I hope he gets in despite of that specific source.

Watch Banjo's reveal trailer start off with Creeper walking around. Then suddenly being thrown into an assist trophy while Banjo takes the spotlight.
I don't want Minecraft to have even a second of influence on Banjo's return to Nintendo.

She seemed very confident on this bit of information though. She even went as far as to say she’s “not pulling this out of her ass” and that her team “could verify that some of these things that are going to be announced soon she knew about as far back as last May”

You guys think that if hypothetically Banjo was to be revealed at E3 that they'd drop him immediately or wait a couple of months?

Cause I'm looking at it from this angle: Joker releases in April and we'll have Challenger Pack #2 revealed by then, likely with a June release, E3 time. Remember who also was confirmed early in April and released in June? Lucas, who released alongside Ryu and Roy confirmed on E3 and released soon after. We could say as an example that Erdrick/Luminaire is #2 and are scheduled for June, then have Banjo revealed and released immediately alongside #2. And if this is true, probably not have character #4 for a longer in-between amount of time, probably till October/November, saying this because the Fighter Pass was said to probably end in February next year.

So I don't know, what are your thoughts?

The idea of having 3 of the characters out by June seems very unrealistic. Joker is out in April. I expect character 2 in June, 3 in August, 4 in November and 5 in January.

I can picture them announcing Character #2 in April around the time Joker releases, for a June window. And then at the E3 Direct they’ll show Character #2’s trailer but also surprise us with Character #3, being Banjo. And they’ll both be available after the Direct. And we probably won’t see the next character until like October/November

Again, not really unrealistic considering last time we had 3 characters dumped at once like three years ago. It really depends on whatever pace Sakurai or Nintendo wants to take with this. Is it likely? I don't know the answer to that myself, I'm 50/50

I mean we got 3 of the 7 DLC characters for Smash 4 just at E3 that year. Getting 2 at E3 this year wouldn’t be unprecedented

The problem with trusting such leaks is that they are always based on things the general public is already aware of. They are predictions in the form of statements prefaced by the claim that the poster knows something we don't. Often times they can be right to a degree, and other times hard visual evidence you can't put a single hole in turns out to be dead wrong (Grinch). They are very flimsy arbiters of forecasting when legitimacy is not even correlated with truth. The only exception I can make is a full, clear screenshot of the game where what is being leaked is not distinctly obscured and would be impossible to produce with public resources:

Here's my own little fanfiction of past events deciding what's going on at the moment, given only what we know. I could easily repurpose the text as fact and slot it into a 4chan or GameSpot forum thread and a number of people would entertain its legitimacy:

  • Once the base roster is finalized, it instantly becomes clear that a wealth of fighters could still make the game through DLC. No Smash/Switch successor will be planned for some time, so there's no point in holding off unlike during 4's production when a sequel was in development less than a year out from its release
  • Sega/Atlus are contacted, Joker is selected and an animatic is produced. Negations are made to have this premiere in December at the Game Awards and as such the character is made top priority for development. (Jack)
  • (Three other mystery companies are contacted, or less depending on if you assume any DLC fighter is first party)
  • Microsoft discusses their third party functionality with Nintendo, work out the Live for Switch feature, and discuss involvement with Smash. As Minecraft is the closest tie between the two at present, Nintendo compiles a set of conceptual Minecraft-related features for Ultimate to present to Microsoft at E3 2018. Insiders see as much and report that the content is part of the base game.
  • During the E3 meeting (which we know Phil Spencer was present for), Rare IP's are discussed heavily. Microsoft has been using them sparingly but cannot execute their full potential when their legacy has to be re-worked to satisfy the Xbox audience. The N64 Classic Edition is also discussed. To coincide with the upcoming release of Live on Switch, Banjo and Kazooie are decided on to be the "Microsoft Rep", and as such Sakurai leaves E3 early to begin work on this, in order to have something to again show Microsoft in the coming weeks. (Brave)

Also keep in mind that if they hadn't leaked, people wouldn't have known about Roy and Ryu basically until they were right about to drop.

In any case, they'll have to hurry if they want to reach the February 2020 deadline.

Though if it does turn out that no one else will be revealed until E3 happens, I hope for the sake of this board that the users stay sane.

Mewtwo was released in April back in 2015. Lucas was announced in the same Direct in that month and was released alongside Ryu and Roy who were both announced and released in June on that same day. The 2nd DLC fighter could be announced in April and released at E3 along with another Season Pass fighter. It's not out of the realm of possibility for us to get 2 or 3 Season Pass fighters at E3.

Though if it does turn out that no one else will be revealed until E3 happens, I hope for the sake of this board that the users stay sane.
If we just get nothing at E3, I'm leaving the speculation scene for awhile. You won't see me on these forums for months if that happens.

Eh, we did have 7 DLC characters that time, with no overarching deadline.

Any threads on /v/ that are "leaks" are 99.99% fake, and ones with Agumon are 100% fake because they're made by Graizen.

I actually imagine the Banjo reveal to drop out of sudden in the following way: if it was to be during the 3.0 reveal, let it be at the end, just when they end showing the new stuff and they make you feel like they are closing already, then the video becomes jiggy pieces and they fly towards the screen like a Banjo Kazooie Transition, then the reveal trailer begins.
I would literally cry tears of joy if this happened.

I find the tweets wording odd. Did GameXplain put up a video about Star Fox GP?
It might be referring to a video they made about general predictions for the Direct, and I guess Star Fox Grand Prix was one of them.

Guys I had an interesting theory with @Zack E.

What if Minecraft content was actually aspects of the rumored stage builder this whole time?

Like take elements from mc and combine it with stage builder plus Steve could be the instructor and a mii costume.

What do you think?

I feel like Steve could be a mii costume for all 3 mii types. Could be something like: Steve is the default costume, but if you have Minecraft for the switch it could transfer your avatar settings into smash. It'd be like fighting as your minecraft character.

I think that’d have to be extremely limited for it to work.

For instance, what if someone had say... a Adventure Time skin. There’d be legal problems every way.

Only way it could work is if it’s Steve or Alex only.

Ok, guys, wild scenario:
Say this leak is real (but instead of Agumon we get Doomguy, and the order of the characters is rearranged), and for each DLC Pack's music, Sakurai does this:
He brings in the composers of each of the 5 new series (Persona, BK, Touhou, DOOM, and Chrono Trigger), and has them each do remixes for eachother's series (ie, the composer for touhou does remixes for doom, and the composer for doom does remixes for persona, and persona's composer does remixes for BK, and so on). In this scenario, which composer of each of these 5 series do you want to do remixes for which of said 5 series? Each composer can only do one.
Also, what particular remixes would you like to hear?

I apologize for the poor-ish grammar in the above paragraph, I kinda wrote this in a haste.
I'd love Touhou music getting remixes by Shoji Meguro, ngl.

I wouldn't say all three types, swordfighter definitely

We all know trying to punch monsters in Minecraft will just get you killed fast, and the only long range thing Minecraft is known for is the bow and arrow, not a gun cannon. If it was anything it'd be swordfighter; the diamond sword is iconic

Got an 'infraction' for my post cos it was 'trolling'.

I'm not trolling, it's blatantly obvious and true. I'm just stating facts.
