I think's underrepresented, I don't know why Dixie is not in the game already, she is popular, iconic, has decent moveset potential and appears in the recent games. K.Rool is awesome, popular and has moveset potential, but I would understand if he is not in this game.
So, yeah, I think it's underrepresented.
Nice! Also, run for your life :p
I mean everyone knows DK is underepped.
Some people say it isn't, even though it is one of the TOP5 Nintendo franchises... Go figure!

Out of the many characters proposed for Smash DLC, I have never understood why so many people want Bandana Dee so badly. Could someone explain? To me, he’s simply a minor side character that is eclipsed by so many other worthy contenders.
He's actually made a huge lot of appearances since his big debut in Super Star. (And Sakurai worked on that game. So I guess Sakurai DID make him.) Since then, he's been confirmed as Dedede's right hand man, a close friend of Kirby (oh, the irony), and in recent games, BDee has the same importance as Meta Knight or Dedede. The only reason those two are more well known is because they have the history advantage. Nothing else. He has AMAZING moveset potential, a huge fanbase (as you can see here). He'd be the first spear user in Smash, so he'd bring something really new to the table. Pretty much anything against him can be shot down (as I say every time).

See, that's a common misconception among misinformed Deetractors. Bandanna Dee is actually the deuteragonist (some could argue tritagonist) of the Kirby series, which is already shamefully misrepresented in Smash. It's the same argument with people like Ridley, Toad, K. Rool, among others. "_____ doesn't have enough reps " (this may not apply to Toad) "_____ is a main hero/villain of _____," "_____ is just as important to the series as ____!" It's all there, and it's all the same for Bandanna Dee. If that doesn't convince you, read the OP. Chandy says better than I could, much as I hate to admit it.
If BDee gets in, he's going straight to 2nd main, no matter how bad he may be or how awkward his moveset may potentially be. That's what happened with Kirby and Dedede after I became a fan of Kirby (although D3 is now a secondary).
If he gets in (and my confidence that he will is growing with each day), he's definitely eclipsing Roy as third secondary behind Luigi and Doc.

That being so, if the contents of the trophies are purely from/referring to that game, that isn't bias - it's just an accurate description. That's why I'm curious about it. ;)
almost all trophies are of items and characters that appeared in super star, in the mentioned games a lot of them actually say dreamland or adventure and even DS and gba games, there are things like the hydra from air ride and the golem from amazing mirror.

Kirby and Dedede are friends (established in the series' second game). Kirby and his friend's bodyguard are also friends. Doesn't seem ironic to me.

The only reason those two are more well known is because they have the history advantage.
That is true. Considering that Bandana Waddle Dee could fairly be said to have become established relatively recently, it's really impressive that he's as popular as he is on a global scale. Even bearing mind that the data we have reflects the enthusiast echo-chamber more than anything, it still does suggest that he's made an impact.

Thanks for the info. :) So, the remaining question, to rule out or confirm alleged bias, is: Are other games represented in this fashion, with the entire category being named after the most-represented title?

I forgot that Kirby and Dedede were friends.
And yeah, I love how BDee has become so well known. To those who know enough about Kirby. Non Kirby fans won't know him...UNLESS WE ACTUALLY GET HIM IN SMASH.

What do you think of DK's representation in Smash? Slightly off-topic, but I want to know your opinion on it.
Same as just about everyone here, I guess. Heck, I know I don't really bring it up , but now that we're having a conversation about it, I may as well get this off my chest: DK was just NOT treated with much respect this Smash. I mean, we got like, what, 9 REMIXES of the DK series main theme (as of DK Country, to be more specific) and while that song was, and still is one of my FAVORITE video game theme songs of all time, we could have possibly gotten some nostalgia from from classic songs from the original DKC trilogy or even DK64, and TBH, I'm still scratching my head over just why in the world did they shortened the DK Rap. Also, the biggest thing to me this Smash: the characters. That's right. The CHARACTERS. I mean, I honestly thought this Smash would be Dixie's time to finally step into fray, but Man, was I wrong. Matter of fact, the fact that Dixie, and in my personal preference, to an extent, King K. Rool, STILL is/are not in Smash somewhat befuddles me. It is STILL my biggest headscratcher even now. I mean Trophies are.....OK........Still, where's MAH CHUNKY KONG TROPHY?!

I fear that the reason DK is poorly treated in Smash because the most popular games of the series were made in the west. Either by Rareware or Retro Studios. That might be why Metroid is poorly treated in Smash as well (Metroid Prime was developed in the west). If that is the case, it is just really sad. I would love to have at least one more DK rep (Dixie <3) and more of gorgeous David Wise-composed music tracks, maybe they could give us one or two of Eveline Fischer compositions too and why not one or two composed by Grant Kirkhope (DK 64)? But no, instead we get 100 remixes of freaking Jungle Hijinx/whatever (I love this song, but uugh).

Anyways, apologies for the off-topic posts :)

I'd love to get a remix of Fear Factory or Aquatic Ambience. Maybe Forest Interlude.

I'd go there to study how the **** Waddle Dees eat their food. Seriously though, I know they like absorb it but like, how?

A Super Mario Maker stage has been confirmed for September 30th!

OMG HOW WAS THERE NO LEAK FOR THIS BEFOREHAND?! That's it, a balance patch is confirmed, now to wonder who will get in. (hope its BDee :) , but its probably Wolf :D)

I think all DLC releases so far came with balance patches. And I wouldn't say "it is probably Wolf" yet. We are talking about Sakurai here, for what is worth he might bring Pichu back first, of all characters. I'd be okay with that.

Implying there will be new character released, which is somewhat unlikely.

Let's hope Game and Watch finally gets the buffs he needs if there is a balance patch.

I'm not opposed to change, it's just, it would seem odd. The only character that speaks (with an audible voice) is Kirby. I much prefer the Super Star Ultra way with Dedede, BDee and MK. If a game has iffy voice acting it can ruin the immersion, whereas if it it purely text-based or not there, there is no risk of bad voice acting.

Oh, also, what would you guys think of an costume for BDee that was based off his Ninja Dojo appearance?
Like this:
I'd totally love to see that, but boy is smash uninspired when it comes to character skins.

I found this on the internet.

I hope he and Dr.Mario get buffs.

Horrendously underrepped.
Despite being one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, especially in 1981 where Mario and Donkey Kong became their own series, it gets next to nothing. Only one new stage on the Wii U version, 1 old one on the Wii U, and 1 old one on the 3DS. Despite having an expansive list of music, the majority of the remixes were of the Jungle theme...
It's still bad in terms of characters because while King K. Rool and Dixie Kong were highly requested, neither of them are playable. I just have to question why such a decision was made; I'm not against any of the newcomers, but to not put in a new DK character was a mistake.
With its long history, the fact that DK is underrepped is an absolute crime.

Smash News. Mario Maker X Smash 4.
I doubt this means much, outside of maybe another stage and a couple of new Mii costumes. I would be surprised if we got a new character to be honest.

EDIT: Shameless plug, but I have Super Mario Maker. I recreated Green Greens from Kirby's Dream Land 1, but I had to make some edits. If you are interested, the level is E5BD-0000-003A-7C19.
