I discovered this as I was training I haven't seen anyone talking about it, and I searched for vids of it and I'm pretty sure it's new (correct me if I'm wrong)

Here it is! :bee:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etoq4X9R5i8

It goes higher than a Zap jump and has NO lag time :psycho:

As far as I know only Lucas can do this!

This may be useful for recovering against Peach, Wario, ROB etc

Hope I helped :p

Are you sure only Lucas can do this? I'd suspect Ness could too because of their odd second jumps.

Still awesome. And my friend uses Toon Link...*plots*

Yeah, Ness can't do it...there must be something wrong with lucas's doublejump o_O

We should do some experimenting with this, we may find something game changing unique to lucas (^_^)

Since it was already discovered, can you please direct me to the thread that introduces it? Also, I didn't find this in the Compendium of Advance Lucas Techniques... hmm... I wonder, can the item be Z dropped?

...sometimes I envy Lucas :(

I've been looking everywhere on the forums and I cant find a topic like this...I also cant find a match to the name on the youtube account. If it was only posted on youtube it's understandable that it went unnoticed (it only has 200 views) thats probably why it isnt in the Compendium yet.

I tried with the z-drop with items like HRbat and Beam sword, but I couldn't get it to work

Does this mean that Lucas > Diddy?

No longer will we live in fear of those accursed bananas. We can use 'em against him! ...Well, not really, I guess, just jump really high for fun and stalling. :p

Still, cool that you found this.

I dont know much about lucas, (I just like the thread lol) but isnt the ddk matchup pretty bad? If it is, this should help in some way. Try it with ness too.

How exactly does this make bananas less of a threat? How does this change the matchup?

Really, I'm curious what you guys are thinking.

It doesn't. Like I said in the end, it's just fun, I guess. A good Diddy won't give you time to pick up a banana and jump with it. You'll be too busy falling all over yourself and eating a fully charged forward smash.

If you have a banana on hand (not likley if you jsut got blasted offstage) it is much easier than zap jumping, and it will make it very hard to edge gaurd (since you can leap above the stage instantly, and have no lag at the top)

nothing huge just kinda neat =P

Out of curiosity on whether an item zap jump would have anything similar to a thunderslide effect, I tried this out.

Seems any B move (except maybe fire) cancels all momentum.

Oh my god! If we can find a way to superjump with a thuderslide effect (ill call it thunderdropping) we would be the best edge character ever.

Thanks for REDISCOVERING it and bringing it to light. Banana Bounce? Eh.... not too fond of the name. Come up with a better one and I'll use it more. Think of something technical, with a little bit of jargon and toss in "Cancel" in there, and oh yeah, be sure to like, have the name summarize the whole move in a phrase. Yah......

Good find, regardless.

This has been known for some time and is possible with any item. It does not have the same effect with any other character although if you do it with Yoshi it has somewhat of a backwards effect actually sending him downward faster than normal. Go figure.

Also this isn't really useful...like at all. Even recovering you don't really need to zap jump for the most part and if you did, you could do a regular zap jump and save the banana for something more useful such as a dashing jump cancelled throw into Fsmash. So yeah...not useful nor really having anything to do with the banana specifically. I'd call it a "zap jump toss" or "zap toss" if anything even though it's hardly useful enough to really deserve a name.

Yeah...that's pretty much what the other 23 posts said exactly.... as I said "nothing huge just kinda neat =P"

let it die...

There is something sublimely right with Lucas's double jump.

Yeah... been there... done that. You can do a lot of cool things out of a zapjump, even moreso out of an item zapjump but, I'd really be surprised if I saw something new.

Out of curiosity on whether an item zap jump would have anything similar to a thunderslide effect, I tried this out.

PKF adds backwards momentum.

Psi-M cancels vertical momentum into a slight pull down, it also maintains whatever momentum was held prior to the Psi-M (thus, magnet pulling).

PKT cancels out all momentum if used in the air, but ledge sliding and ice work differently for some reason and you get a boost. Haven't messed around enough with PKT2...

PKFreeze creates backwards momentum initially and cancels vertical momentum, when the ice-crystal thing appears horizontal movement is canceled.

This focus on bananas is kinda missing other interesting items: the gyro, bombs, turnips, grenades, peanuts, bottle caps, bike parts and misc. stuff produced by peach and DDD. Did I miss anything?

You can keep the gyro away from rob pretty well this way. Bombs zapjumping lets you get a stupid amount of airtime if you PsiM stall, catch the bomb, and use it to refresh PKT. I generally don't trust grenades so I have no input there yet. Those angry death turnips can be interesting and item zapjumping is useful for escaping peach offstage. Bottle caps are... there are a lot of them. Bike parts and penuts are meh. Misc stuff is... random. IDK,
