B-sticking or not?

Hi Lucas mains.

I try to make Lucas a secondary, or maybe even my new main. Now, I have read some threads about Lucas' strategies and stuff, but I am not sure if I should set the C-stick to specials. On one hand, it would mean that I have to get used to a different control sheme, on the other hand I have read about some users telling that they accidentally start of a PKF instead of PKT and died helplessly, which I want to avoid. I think I am not doing too bad with Lucas right now (C = smashes).

Any suggestions?

It's completely your call. I do recommend doing some modification to make it easier to zap jump, but bsticking comes down to whether you like to wavebounce or not.

I'm leaning towards not these days.

Oh if it's possesive then it's just i-t-s but if it's a contraction then it's i-t-apostrophe-s...scallywag.

If you're going to troll, atleast use correct grammar.

B-sticking is not necesary. And I hate it because it made me PK Freeze all the time when I wanted to do PK Fire or Thunder. Who's idea was it to make diagonal's neutral? I personally suggest not using it because wavebouncing doesn't help your game that much and it's much easier to control aerials with the c-stick.

Yeah, I don't use it either. I wonder if most Lucases use it or not, or if only the experts use it.

If you do use it, do not use it to PK Thunder. It's so much easier to actually Up+B with the button and Ctrl stick. I have mine, when I B-stick, at L to jump, tap jump off, and B specials. That's the only change.

instead of B-sticking i set my Y to special because i can hit X and Y at the same time and makes zap jump alot easier. Just stating not something you have to do. But it helps me alot(especially with recovery).

That's for me to know
I don't use B-sticking... I use recovery claw to do Zap Jumps. (this is where your thumb is on b and your Index finger is on y) However, it is hard to rope snake with this kind of hand position since switching from normal to recovery position to do a zap jump is nearly impossible to do on time...

That sounds good. I will test it soon :)

b-sticking makes it easier to zap jump and magnet pull, but it certainly sucks when you accidentally perform something that's not PKF. Sailing off the edge because of a PKT misfire is not fun. =(

I b-stick (with z=jump and x=grab). Whether or not you b-stick: the recovery claw is cr**. Seriously, f***ing hand contortion lag. The startup lag for carpal tunnel!

B-sticking use seems to be on the wane. I strongly feel that Lucas players should try using this for a little while, as it takes some getting used to.

The effect of a change in difficulty of recoils vs. aerials is pretty big. That said, losing the c-stick aerials isn't as bad as its made out to be. The b-stick effects (there are a bunch...), on the other hand, are a pain in the a** at best and impossible at worst without c-stick specials.

The playstyle, for me at least, changed significantly after switching to b-stick. Different strategy, new techniques, counterpick stages...

PKT misfires are easily avoidable, more easily avoidable than just messing up a zapjump normally. Unexpected jumping, less so, but also less dangerous. PK Freeze is the worst b-stick accident.

I have my GC set to b-stick. I find it a good option to have. I guess the only reason I wouldn't have b-stick with lucas is if, A) I relied on the c-stick smashes. or B) Didn't have a GC controller in my hand while playing Brawl.

In truth its all preference. I feel pretty confident in my b-sticking after a few hours the learning curve really isn't that high. Why don't you just try it for a while and decide? :p
