i bought a lil tube TV yesterday, so now i can mess around in melee stuff again:)

(i couldnt stand playing on HD lag)

anyways, on to the technique. I was just hopping around for like an hour doing moves and noted some stuff.

EDIT: Lol i said way more than i wanted to, so i tried to organize it to make it easier to read. (sigh... still looks like a kirbykaze post):embarrass

Timing:

first, the quickest most efficient timing i find is to shorthop, at the top of the shorthop, fair THEN fastfall. If u hit both sticks at the same time it will not consistently autocancel. Hit cstick then down at about the same time but in that order.

This will hit fox in the face at a medium distance about half the range of the max range fastfall fair. and can connect easily on shields from a bit farther away.

i have known about it but personally never used this cuz i felt the tradeoff for more ground range for a little bit more lag was worth it. But now i feel otherwise.

alternate timings include delaying it past the peak of the shorthop slightly and not fastfalling at all, just retreat it backwards.

Additionally this works well in conjunction with a full-hop. AT peak of fullhop fastfall first then cstick. Similar to the shorthop timing just switch the order of the sticks. This hits about the same spot and autocancels.

Uses:
I noticed niho and Cj do it alot when i was looking through those matches a few weeks ago.

the first few clips here: (skip to 2:57)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1DkU95ZU8M

first he spaces an autocancel fair on top of a shield, then shffls again.
the next clip, he autcancels fair then dash-dances away from a dash attack into a grab.

just playing with my friends fox yesterday, i would purposefully whiff with an autocancel fair and i was able to kick him in the face with a ftilt or dsmash out of his dash dance grab attempt.

This made for a very easy approach against nairs, hed be scared to challenge the fair but its hard to punish even a miss and it makes it easy to get inside.

The fullhop version works very well too and is a good complement to the FH autocancel nair. whereas nair has to be started slightly earlier (i.e. calling a jump), you can use this without commiting to anything on the way up. So far its been good in conjunction with full hop needle approaches. You run into a full hop charge spaced so that you could hit them dashing away. If they approach you, you store, fastfall autocancel fair.

More possible applications
i was thinking it may be possible to autocancel fair way inside a shield then be able to dash through the shield similar to the marth tactic. I am not sure if this is viable yet.

i was having alot of fun just spamming autocancel fairs into other moves really quickly. Like more autocancel fairs, or into an instant full jump wall of fairs. autocancel fair to usmash has a good beat to it

im thinking i could slowly eliminate the need to lcancel from my game, and become close to unpunishable on stuff:)

basically i am curious about some stuff

also little things like this are not known by everyone so its good to get it out there in the open.

This kind of stuff is what makes sheik fun. Pretending she's technical/ hard to play. =)

If you sh rising needle store and ff fair at the peak of your jump you will autocancel.

If you sh and fair at the peak of your jump (approx) and ff you will autocancel.

As for if it's better than low Fair... yes and no. They're both important.

Basically it's for baiting stuff and safer pressure because no lag makes it easy to transition into tilts and other stuff after. Like dashing away. Or more aerials if you're into that.

i think this may be feasible. I was practicing on empty port starman and it is very quick to fair then dash dance around them if you hit real close inside them with the fair and autocancel.

I just hit super low but hitting super high might be fun too.
this is exactly the point. some people may try to jump out and hit you while you delay the hit. this falco i play constantly attacks with any window i give him.

if you can hit a lil earlier and still avoid the grab i think that would be better.

Spacing repeated auto cancel sh fairs against shields is uber. No matter what they do, they get ***** because you can move before they can do ****.
help me figure out how much of a frame advantage you have by fastfall autocancelling fair perfectly from the peak of a shorthop into a shield. It would be useful.

i dont think it would be that much if any, fair doesnt have ridiculous shield stun, and if u are hitting mid to high...

get elven in here, lets crunch some numbers:)

id like to be able to autocancel fair grab before they can do **** like fox and falcos cheap *** shine grab

wow so i just realized u can fastfall autocancel fair off platforms, im ********.

only tested battefield so far. u just run off, cstick and down at the same time and it hits stuff and no lag. works off the top to side platforms as well.

needle to autocancel fairs = brokesauce, even better than needle to fastfall lcanceled fair

im sure i can tinker the timing to make it work everywhere

I think Sheik is comparable to the Super Devil.

Fox is only the Devil.

The key difference is that Sheik (Super Devil) rides a flying, flaming motorcycle (oh man, the symbolism) and has a jar of marmalade that makes you commit adultery.

In time, the Super Devil will surpass its simplistic counterpart.

Bwahahahaha.

Is it cheating to play fox and sheik? That's like super duper devil, right?

I'm working on it lolz.

EWC is correct, Fox / Sheik main harnesses the power of the Ultra Deville 2.0 Deluxe. With it, you can do things the Super Devil can only dream of. Like maiming puppies when they try to hide in lush forests.

I was trying this, and you can actually nair right before you hit the ground if you don't fastfall. It's just shorthop fair, then nair. I'll see if it's useful next time I play somebody

ATTN: continous loops of sh needle > isai drop autocancel fair > sh needle > fair >needle >fair > needle etc. on yoshi's story is unbelievable ****, not only flashy. it's a lag free stream of moves that scares people.

i did this to a jiggs yesterday, i camped under the platform and whenever she approached i would start looping sh needles to fairs. it's an infinite lol. just get ready to run away from the pound.

ya it's not an infinite as in a combo lol.

its just a continous stream of moves that seem to control space well and allow u to run away whenever u want.

u just hang out under the side platforms on yoshis, when they approach, u do rising sh needle. If it connnects u run off with fair. if it doesn't u isai drop through with fair to cover landing if they waited for needle. then u can needle again real quickly, or run back.

it's like the only time a single rising needle is ever worth anything.

i think it's in the yoshi's clip of my vid, u just replace the second needle with a fair.

nothing game-breaking, i just found it to actually be pretty effective yesterday in a few tourney sets, cuz jiggs floats in and out quickly and they will just float in alot after a missed needle.

buffer the walk by tilting slightly forward after u press B, then gently roll it down quickly.

Try to get the timing where u don't walk forward at all.

in the vid u see i am progressively getting closer to the edge of the plat cuz i buffer the walk, i have the timing down better now where i can pretty much stay in place for a long time.
