I still check this thread once in a while, just haven't been posting. Also some of you probably notice that I don't talk in msn convos, this is cos our bookkeeper/my mum/my sister are using the internet for banking and msn opens automatically, after uni i usually come back to some messages to read. If i'm playing wc3, i wouldn't even be on msn. So sorry to anyone thinking i'm straight out ignoring you.
As for ei2, its probably not on as seat2 is just better. ei2 never had a set date anyway, dec 3 was just a 'yeah-sorta-round-that-time' date.
I felt i needed to make this post to clear some things up and hopefully get people to understand exactly whats going on in terms of perth's smash scene.
I think I(perhaps we) mainly lost interest in the scene shortly after cao left. When cao was here it was so fun! cos we were versing someone new who was very skilled (perth didn't get to verse cao much at @M), and then when he left it was just... same old same old (except with cao's absence it became more apparent). me, mat, ryan, mic, kenton, bryce occassionally a few others like timmy and evan versing each other constantly, bearing almost the same results in every match, and every match almost felt the same, then (this is where everyone got angry) we enjoyed a game of dota at the lan centre when cao was here and had a lot of fun, then found out kenton's old school friend is exceptionally good at the game, then we quickly found out that almost everyone at the lan centre played it, the person who works at the lan centre is a friend in bryce's year that i happen to know quite well too. We go there every week and theres always someone new to verse, noob or pro, and also the regulars who we know quite well now. It even has tournaments every so often.
Its similar to what a smash community is about, but its a team game, there are many many dota players which keeps it fresh as well as the game being constantly updated in itself. There is also the fact we can play dota any time against real opponents or with friends i've met at the lan centre on bnet.
Dota is not as good as smash, smash is much more sophisticated as a game I dont need to say why - its pretty obvious. The people in melbourne may not understand the situation as much, because your scene is so populated and has a lot of fresh players, but perth's smash scene is just too small and has been that way for so long now, it has gotten stale. The reason why we have fallen for dota is it pretty much has the community that was missing from perth's smash scene.
Anyway with that all said, I still expressed my interest in seat2, regardless of what i said about smash in perth, going to melbourne to see our friends, play games and hang out with eachother is a rare opportunity not to be passed up.
I hope this cleared some things up
