Australian Smash Discussion

Since no one else appears to be aware of me and mic's desire to have a smashfest on Sunday, I shall host one myself in the hope someone other than just Mic will come.


So, details are -

We will also be playing Bomberman DS multiplayer. This is incredibly fun, and I can imagine it being on the same level as DotA if we had enough DS's.

This is Shaz, Im on as Bach but what can ya do?
Anyway..things are awesome here as expected. We recently went to this huge gamestore that carries massive amounts of games music DVDs manga blah blah and its open till 12. Yeah Isai wanted a Japanese 64, Cella got a pink GBASP I got FireEmblem for cube plus 6 with Roy (6 right?) Ken got Mario party 3 which has a funny story behind it Ill share back in Oz Bach got some music...yeah its cool.
Smashwise Ive played teams with Unknown Force as my teammate against CJ and Shaka today...played for a long time and somehow UF and I were ownage machines.
Everyone heres cool in there own way...its top tier!
Mic weve been playing the Jump demo all day...we downloaded it from a hotspot its cool.
Em Im way better as a teammate now...Like I said UF and I were taking names, I done some good stuff with Ken yesterday and Cella and I overcame her tipping me frequently and actively chasing me down to win a good lot vs umm Ken and Shaka I think it was....Ken said I was defensive in teams at first so...lol
Umm they have arcade games here that are like strip majong cept with pornographic (softcore fantasy stuff not meaningless stupidit)videos after each set won...lol we watched it while we waited for the rain to stop today...Japans funny lol.
Shame Ems not here coz Im having trouble convincing Ken and Isai to let me team with them lol...its coz im not US they want UF lol...I wanna team with them but not for the US vs Japan thing...coz thats just lame lol (if I wanted to).
Hmm...Umm about the competition here...its totally mindgames plus...They move like Em or better but always have the plans....so.....Its hard forme to compare them to you guys at all. Thunders seems the most like Em using the confidence of the speed plus raw offensive surpression. He does well, but loses to the slower styles a lot.
To be honest just by roughly comparing Id say only Em would do well..that is saying Josh and Ryan havent improved at all...which im sure they have though...Ryan would need to have improved in his confidence and focus though since I considered that his biggest flaw our last meet. Man they use all the tricks in the book and write new ones as they go....move like arrows and know ure every move unless u give them their own medicine...top tier!!!! Wish you were all here!
As much fun as Im having looking forward to getting back to you guys too

Seriously. Mic was the only one who turned up, after I reminded him. Everyone else simply omitted to tell me that they couldn't come, weren't coming, or had quit smash to play professional DotA (I don't know which yet). Today was really a testament to Perth's current smash scene.

My conclusion - I won't host another smashfest, until we get more south of the river ones. Mic is welcome to come to my place to smash, but I'm not going out of my way to prepare for large smash meets unless everyone says they want me to hold one.

And I told Cao otherwise when he said Melbourne > Perth... obviously I was wrong >_<

Other than that, sorry I couldn't come lanning, but I have yet to find a job, so my money is slowly dwindling, even without spending heaps of money on lanning. That and I was busy the last 2 times, with things considerably more important ^^

Shaz, do your best! I'm looking forward to the ownage stories when you make it back from Japan. Wee!

I don't see them being put up and I'd love to watch them again - me an' Em could capture them and put them up. I'll pay for the postage and all, but yeah. I'm a guy of action - not just sitting around waiting for jack. My Bowser ain't gonna get known if it stays uncompressed in Quez's comp forever.

Hey guys, this is Unknownforce. Lol first time I have posted here since I am a USA player and as such have not had the chance to meet any Australian players before this point, but since I am currently in Japan I have had the chance to meet Shaz and Ceela, who are both very nice and all around awesome people. Shaz mentioned the possibility of a large tournament one of these days in Australia, and it certainly intrigued me seeing as Australia is one of the places I have wanted to see most in my lifetime. Hopefully the details will be made at some point in the future with a great deal of advanced notice so that perhaps I can save up enough money to attempt the journey.

Anyway things here in Japan are superb, but I am sure Shaz will fill you in on everything so I do not want to take away from any of his tales of Japan lol.

I shall try to keep an eye on this thread since notice will likely be posted here as to tournament details. Should I manage to make it in when the tournament takes place I certainly look forward to meeting you all, especially if you guys are all as cool as Shaz and Cella!

Train Info and Starting Times

If you want to be there early, get the 9:00am Train, to Geelong, then the 10:13am Route 30 Bus (Corio via Thompson Rd), otherwise get the 10:00 am train and the 11:23 Route 30 bus. Get off at the stop just After the Patti's Fruit Market, turn back and turn right at the corner. As for the rest, ask CAO when to turn into the court where I live (Which is just across the road from Norlane High School).

I'll be starting this at 10:45am, with lunch, food and drink provided.

As for Plasia and friends, look For Norlane High School in a melways, The court across the road from it is where I live (in House 14).

And that's about it.

Now for something Different;
Mum will be buying three Pizzas (the type that you buy at Coles) so what kind of pizza do you guys (and Girl) want??

yes, despite the ridicule of my name, i still visit here rather often, if you care to notice i posted here last week in this very thread.

anyway, the smashness has been lacking of late due to the discovery of WC3 and DotA. Unfortunant in some eyes, yes, however we find it fun and we want to play it.

here i was under the impression that we were all friends. hopefully i wasnt mistaken when i thought this. hopefully something as trivial as a few of us playing WC for a bit instead of smash wont destroy friendships that im glad to say i have. hopefully in december we will greet each other with big smiles and great expectations instead of nothing happening at all.

Jah, that's good. I've been waiting for some type of response to my post.

Generally, all my frustration.. and probably most other's frustration was that no one bothered to contact me to say they couldn't make it. I checked everything from e-mail to smashboards, and nothing. In Melbourne, if someone says they are going to make it or try to make it, they will generally tell someone, or else be labelled no-show boy *cough*Anf*cough*.

An incident like this won't stop us all being friends. I just feel kinda unimportant when people say that they are coming, then completely forget about me. Again, wouldn't happen in Melbourne.

Hopefully you understand where I was coming from when I said that Mat. I wouldn't have complained if someone contacted me. Anyone. At all.


So, still friends. Just don't do it again! XD

* SEAT - 22-23 September (22nd is the tourney day/night)
* Manifest - 23-25 September (Schedule for Smash to be announced later, cus that's all that really matters, hahaha)
* AFL Grand Final.... 24 September.... next...(unless Eagles or Swans something cool like that vs)
* The days after that I wanna host a meet (the 26 September, if there's people still floating around). Also visit the few Smashers who didn't attend anything prior with the interstaters.

It's all a heavily woven Smash season which is sure to climax any Smasher who particiaptes OOOoooOOOOOOoooo!

I didn't know about ryan's smash fest until the day when mic rang me, but I said i wouldn' be able to make it unless mat could take me anyway. Yes I have been spending a lot of time playing wc3 because smash is currently getting a little worn out for me at the moment, most of us have grown tired of the game at least once before and not touched it for a while. I'm not saying I've quit smash or anything, its just a break thats all, so that I can come back to the game and start enjoying it again rather than straining my interest in the game.

I havent been on smashboards much lately, I only came on and posted about the lan meet quickly and I didnt read anything above. Basically, I didnt even know there was a smashfest. Im really sorry Ryan, I feel guilty because it was organised etc. I must have looked pretty ignorant posting about a lan when you were posting about a smashfest.

As for the other random insults against Warcraft 3 and dota, I was dissapointed. Seriously, just because me, Josh, Bryce and Mat are playing some Warcraft 3 does not mean we hate smash. I dont complain about what you guys play, so I would appreciate if you would do the same.

I've run into a problem, it seems Nick cannot get out of work and thus half of my petrol money no longer exists. I only have $10 and I only have Benji in the car, who will contribute an unknown quantity of cash.

This is especially urgent considering the recent mountain climb the petrol prices took.

If you know of anyone who can and is allowed (by Mikul) and wants to come by car please ring me on:

Kenton and Josh, I understand where you're coming from. It's cool, it's over now, and we can get on with our lives. Hopefully we can start playing smash again sometime in the next couple of weeks, and start planning what we're doing with Sweden and EI2. My family complications with Sweden have disappeared it seems, so it looks like I will be going with you guys. It also looks like Helios is hosting people a little earlier for sight seeing and such, but we'd have to fly into (Gothenburg I think? The second biggest city) to stay at his place before heading to Yuna's on the 2nd. That and it goes over New Years, and deserting families then can be disastrous.


Anyway, I'll go back into my little hole where I fill out application forms for jobs and do homework. See everyone next smashfest!

Note: No more lanning for me, till I get a job. Too much spending = no Sweden.

About Sweeden, I'm still thinking about it. If I do end up deciding to go, then I may not go to EI2. Tax return $ goes towards either Sweeden or U.S. I'll probably be major broke if i went to perth ;____; and have absolutely no spending cash for Sweeden...

U.S Scenario - I wanna find work there...and if I manage to do just that succesfully, consider the sweeden trip down the drain lol xD.

Because i <3 you all so much, i went to Flight centre a few days ago and consulted with the consultant (teehee) about our planned flight to stockholm.

there is one major problem, its known as a 'season change' and just our luck, it happens on the 3rd of january.

After the 3rd of jan, arriving at stockhom on the 4th around 10am, it will cost us $2292

before the 3rd of jan, arriving whenever, it will cost us $2808

i dont know about you guys, but $500 is a hell of a lot of cash, so id be willing to sacrifice our participation at the first day of the tourney (as long as its not singles) to get there for cheaper.

if we all agree on this, we need to make a deposit soon.

and i mean soon
