I went to a tourney in AA yesterday and there were alot of falcos i hadnt seen before, we did pretty well, but i couldnt help but notice there we some techniques that they should know above others if they wanna win at all. So ima make a tier list for Techs and Concepts that r the most important for falco to learn first. And another for which r the most important. Give input plz.

Pew* Pew* Tier

Short Hop Double Lazer- this is were falco starts. He is kinda similar to diddy. He may not be the best killer, but the fact that he such a hard obstacle for an opponent to play w/ makes him shine. I believe its the most important thing to learn first. for normal SHDL get them down to near silent everytime(or they r usleess vs short chars or ones that duck when they run - Marth Shiek-), but dont stop there dont just spam lazers. snipe them. try to time them to hit ur opponent, and if u see them in the air long(in one place) or on a platform be able to do shdl at all different intervals (meaning both lazers close, spread, in between etc.)

Instantaneous Ariel Phantasm - this is imprtant cause falco isnt a fast character any more. So sometimes it becomes harder to punish certain chars moves that end far away (fleeing nado) IAP is our best weapon. In addition when playing lower tiers who cant do much vs this move it is to be used more. It may seem nearly decent vs a char like mk or snake but for someone like Ike or PT, this is golden.

S Tier

Chaingrabs - People say chaingrabbing has no skill in it and thats completely wrong. However the amount of skill required for its pay out is not even. Learn Ur match ups, all chars arent chaingrabbed the same way. use Blade and Xonars threads to learn. Chaingrab is amazing ti gets alost all the cast from 0 to 30 up to dead. Though it may work many ways, there is always a best way.

This topic, really isn't needed.

And I'm pretty sure some of the members who go to your tournies, don't go to Smashboards/Falco Boards.

Tell them in person, if they do have an account/question/vids, put it in stickied threads.

1. I assumed that since 1/2 of the falcos at a tourney r like that. more would be.
2. I love how ppl r more concerned w/ the name of the thread then getting whats out of it.
3. The ppl r on smashboards, they sent me msgs asking for tips.

thx, falco boards. Always perfect

also from a personal view, i believe it is needed. (Saying it is or isnt is an opinion) Most falcos try to start off all chaingrabbing, and thats why they start off sucking. If u learn things in a certain order, skill comes alot quicker. Its how ive taught my friends falco, and they become rly good rly quick.

1. If half of them do go here, they should know the Falco boards. They should know the stickies. They should know what AT's/Techs/whatever Falco has.

2. Well, not all these are AT's, so the title is misleading.

3. Keep it in messages then.

Yeah, we are aren't we. :) (It's cause we have Bleachigo <3)

Starting off chaingrabbing, doesn't always make you sucky. If you know you can get it, go for it. If they have videos, use the Critique thread, if they have questions, Q&A. Easy, right?

What? I don't really do much though, Teran is like the new "Leader", I would like to be up there too but I'm very lazy and don't feel like takingover any of the matchup/stage/video threads. (Which Kuro, Ozz asked yoo to take over. Make a new one and start filling it up again.)

i guess i agree, but starting off chaingrabbing nvr works. myabe on a scrub site like gamebattles. but if u go to tourneys, the higher lvl ppl will just punish u.

w/e lock this if u want, i wont be mad. I finally got another wii!! So im testing anyway

A lot of people tell me to never use the cg at the start at the match.

Here's what I say:

If I'm not forcing it,, and I'm not getting punished for it, I can do w/e I want.
As long as you're not stupid about it, there's nothing wrong with using the cg early at higher levels of play.

The reason most people dont talk on the falco boards is because the majority of the people on the falco board are stubborn/mean and generally not good at helping others to become better.

Notra rocks for trying, and I would help if ya asked :)

BTW what did you end up placing? I placed like 13th or something :( **** judge/boyr...

False, we all pretty much have been here since the beginning. All of us, keeping up with everything that has been talked about. We just hate when people ask us how to do simple "Falco" things like SHDL, BPG, or DACUS. We also dislike threads that don't really improve his game since all of his crap is old to us.

And threads that rank attacks/AT's are pretty dumb since everything gets used correctly if everything flows right/you are good.

I will admit though we are somewhat hostile to newcomers who don't post anything helpful.

Notra, it doesn't matter what you learn first. It certainly has nothing to do with skill. If it was me, I would tell any new Falco player about the chaingrab because it's Falco's bread and butter. It doesn't matter what you tell someone first, what matter's is how they apply what they've learned. Also, about high levels of play...you're making it seem like it's at a level that's very hard to compete with XD. I don't know how many times I've gotten a chaingrab off in the beginning of a match against a "good" player. Just tell your friend(s) about setting up into it, tricking the opponent, or mixing up ways of doing it.

im not concerned w/ how many times. Take a percent as to how many attemps and how many succeeded. Unless u play ******* who dont know chaingrab is falcos bread and butter, they will do all they can to avoid it. In fact some snake blow themselves up past 40 to avoid it. Also Chaingrab is useless after a certain percent. It wont help u kill( dthrow will helpl for set ups). If all u know how to do it chaingrab then good luck. Because a good snake, wont die from chain grab. and if u can shdl or use other techniques how r u supposed to get a kill. GL w/ that.

And Fyi, Order does matter. How many falcos u know r good and cant SHDL (nearly all silent)
Now how many do u know that r good but cant phantasm cancel. See what i mean? order does help.

ALSO, all falco boards talk about for falco is being campy. And how it is the only good way to play falco. Hmm let me think..... Chaingrab sure as hell aint campy. But SHDL and IAP r. Case Closed

@Bleachigo If ur too impatient, then ill help them. i dont mind. And if somethign looks to easy for u ignore it, or just leave it alone. ALL falcos havent been here since the beginning. There r always new falcos, be nice, and give everything a shot. Ill take any advice (falco wise), if it works ill keep it. if not ill throw it away. ( I have friends who nvr play falco, and still can help me. u should try it.)

@ Iris lol, yeah lains icee is too good. idunno, i only got 1 stock off and some mid percentages. I might pick up ZZS, cause i tried mk vs him. But i mean he took down the #1 mk in a set, what could i do? lol

Iris, you've honestly been on the boards long enough to say that? Name one person who is like that, mean/stubborn, or not good at helping.

Besides people who recently picked up Falco, the veterans have helped everytime.

And Kismet's right. I agree with his whole post, srsly.

I don't really need that much help from you (or your friends), I have all the help in NJ with my fellow Power Ranked Players.
wow (why these boards suck most of the time). Not to be a duche but can u read? i just said These r for ppl who dont know. And bleachigo congrats, u have friends in new jersey and get help from them. just like i suggested. And dont go crazy over power rankings as if me and iris were jealous. Iris and I (well i know i do, and Iris prob has and will be) place higher than top 15 every tourney. Im pretty sure ur rly low on ur rankings anyway, and New jersey brawl isnt even close to MI brawl. We have to deal with Ally, Lain, Anther, and Judge every local tourney (all who play cares that **** falco). nuff said

i apologize for goin off task. lock this. Ppl with their head up their *** have ruined it.

Well I have been a lurker on the boards since before brawl came out, but join time is fairly irrelevant.

People who recently picked falco up are the ones that need the most help, the other players just need to work on timing and mindgames ect. once you know the AT's and match ups, its all practice from then on.

People don't lose because they don't know as many ATs. They lose because they don't know how the game is suppose to be played.

plz stop commenting on this. we agreed to disagree. and ppl will lose if they know how to play and dont know how to use AT's. If both ppl know how to play equally the one who can use their character to the best of its abilities will win. THIS ARGUMENT IS DONE>
