Because when the Sun illuminates white light it travels 1 lightyear per minute and reaches the earth (Gets here in 7 minutes) it reflects of the surface and is trapped between the Earth and its atmosphere. And the reason why the sky is blue is because it absorbed all other colors but blue. And that is why the sky cannot be pink
