Alright. Thought I'd ask once more just to be safe. Would you all think it would be alright for me to enter Brawl Singles at the next tournament (that I'm hosting) without paying entry fee? I don't see myself having any shot at money and if for some reason I do miraculously (won't happen) place high enough to get any, I will simply not take any of the pot.
K9 just entered both events in his own tournament without paying.
Then again, he placed in the money anyway
The only problem I can foresee is someone getting upset that you've eliminated them when they paid and you didn't. which isn't entirely unreasonable

If $5 isn't too much, you should drop entry down to that and just pay. Watch the top contenders squeal!!

Alternatively, I could charge 5 cents venue fee per person for each tournament I've hosted and raise $10!

Though, yeah, how do you guys feel about $5 entrance fee instead of $10?

We did talk about the payouts and i wouldnt mind paying top 8. Gives all of us a chance to win a bit of something. even if its small it does feel like an accomplishment instead knowing whos most likely going to win money in top 3. it would help others to want to try harder just to place in money as well. we have many ppl in the scene that can make pr so i see it just as a motivation boost

Its not about the money to me I just like to have fun with everyone and hangout. But of course top 8 should be paid if it reaches over a certain amount of entrants.

Also Aaven thats fine with me :D

Only problem with top 8 is how do you pay out exactly? Let's be generous and say that we have 30 entrants. That's $300 to mess with. Assuming you don't want to pay out less than $10 to each person, you get at the least this:

Generous to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd still
1 - $135
2 - $70
3 - $25
4 - $20
5 - $15
5 - $15
7 - $10
7 - $10

Generous to <3rd place:
1 - $90
2 - $60
3 - $50
4 - $40
5 - $20
5 - $20
7 - $10
7 - $10

Problem with both is that's assuming you have at least 30 people.

I would go with the first payouts.

Bottom 4 i hope will be happy with anything they get because we dont payout to top 8.

Top 4 im sure want more money and they did place better in the tourney

Now, with 20 people:

1 - $60
2 - $40
3 - $30
4 - $20
5 - $15
5 - $15
7 - $10
7 - $10

Hence the problem I'm running into with this. :/

That is, unless this is an okay payout.

Coould still go with being generous to the top 3 on the payout % you did above or just payout to top 5 since theres less people.

Im no TO or anything but I try to keep as many people happy :D

I just had too much crap to take care of at home to leave for an entire day. I was really close to going though, I flipped a coin with kyle on the phone and he called heads (for me to go) but it was tails hahah. Sorry :<

I only think paying out to top 8 is appropriate if we have AT LEAST 30 people. Anything less should be top 5 or 6.

With our amount of entrants (we had 14 last tourney lol, even when Tuscon came), top 4 is already reasonable enough...Roughly 30% of the people who entered got paid, and that is good.
Cali only does top 3 and they double our entrants, and most states only do top 3 anyway.

Especially with only a 5$ entry fee, it should just be top 3.
But if it stays at 10, then it's more reasonable to extend payouts to whatever you want to do.

Duffy, I am way down to join your car. With Kevin, Shawn, we only need 1 more.

Okami, your proposition to enter brawl for free is definitely fair since you wouldn't even take from the pot if you placed. Maybe you'll get into brawl because of it =P

But yea

5$ should only be top 3 no exception, especially with out recent crappy tournament attendants
10$ I would like to keep it at top 4 (under 20entrants) or top 5 (over 20entrants).
If we ever got 30 then i could see paying top 6-8

For normal tournaments, a $5 entry fee sounds reasonable enough. I figure it's more important to attract and keep new players to the scene more than anything else, and the better way to do so would be to lower the entry fee, especially because it's unreasonable for them to make it into the money.

During an APRD tournament though, we should increase the entry fee to $10 and the payout to top 8.

That was my idea **** lol

Edit: The thing is i would rather have a low entry fee for this game, first because at tourneys people don't enter because of the ten dollars, or if they do enter and they play like crap that day they say to themselves "i shouldn't have entered that tourney, it was a waste of money". Also its been like 3-4 years, and we are still using ten dollars? Not even socal does that.

When i went to vegas there entry fee for both doubles and singles were 6$, and they still pay out to top 8 no matter what, because they say it's not about the money to them. I think people should get some earnings back if they get top 8 in a tourney, it make people feel better about themselves.

So i really think if we keep it 10$ next season we should pay out to top 8, if not then lower the entry fee to 5$.

Edit: I think we should take a poll.

on...
If you want things to stay the same. (0 votes)

If you want 10$ but we pay out to top 8. (0 votes)

Or you want 5$ entry fee. (4 votes)

$5 is great in my opinion. I mean, for one thing, if you don't have money to pay $5, then you've got other issues to worry about (such as eating, paying electricity, gas perhaps, etc.), but you usually can scrounge up $5 in a week by just eating 75 cents less food each day. If you're really cool, just skip out on that fast food lunch that day and only eat breakfast and dinner. Besides, think about how much it costs for other hobbies. $20 for a box of paintballs? $1000 for a new musical instrument? $30-70 to go to an amusement park? $40 for the whole night at Gameworks? $10 at a movie theater?

$5 is pretty cheap for some good tourney sets + a few hours of friendlies. I mean, I'm already not charging anything for running the tourney.

And if I'm voting: $5
