bullet train sucks. no joke. it does have the speed but the controls on it is really bad. if double dash had many straight aways i can see it winning but double dash has so many turns.

barrel train is a bit slower than the bullet and controls are a lil better but i will still go with toads beastly go kart!!!! i think toadettes go kart is faster than toads. i will have to look into it
Lucky me, I found Mew2king's godlike guide. It's a little hard to navigate in that small box, but you can ctrl+f for everything and it works out. It's also got data for hella other games.

i hope hes saying that the barrel train is good for time trails only. i will agree with this but i dont think its the the best when playing against people. any kart can be really good if the person knows the controls. i find the bigger karts a pain in the *** for smaller karts because they can easily push you around or off the tracks if youre a smaller kart.
the characters do play a big role in the game. paratrooper is OP!!!!! but im fine with diddy or baby bowser on my team to block the 3 red shells also if youre good enough you can dodge red shells in double dash but its very hard.

That's one of the advantages with the Barrel Train. It's the heaviest light kart, so it gets pushed around the least (in regards to the other light karts). I will say though that things definitely change in multiplayer; however it makes sense to me that the Barrel Train is still the best overall, because if you pull far enough ahead, it'll eliminate a lot of the multiplayer variables, with items and what not. But what the hell do I know.
