Because they want to own auto industry? No. How would the members of congress get anything out of owning that? Congress passed the bailout because if they didn't, lots of people would lose their jobs, get angry, and vote everyone out of office. You can't argue that it's anything more sinister than that?

Good point, without anything attached to said wheel, sonic would just be running in a wheel while bearing no electricity
