Given the split nature of the FE debates this time, I forced myself to dwell towards the middle, so I was accepting this was inveitable for at least one of them. However the fact that two of the three central characters of Awakening got in softens the blow for me at least.

Christ... I genuinely feel bad for you guys and I'm sorry it came down to this. This is the closest a character has ever gotten to being playable only for it to not pan out in their favor. The fact that he was an active part of the trailer didn't exactly help either. I always figured that Robin/Lucina would wind up as Chrom's final smash, not the other way around. Still, today was a bitter sweet day for Fire Emblem fans in a number of ways.

I freaked out for a second when I was watching it live because I thought that Chrom was confirmed at the ending but I'm still okay with the fact that he's just support.

Next Trailer shown you see Chrom laying there in pain. Solid Snake walks out of the shadows and says "Nothing to be ashamed of pain get's the better of us all" helps him up then show a Chrom&Snake trailer.

I've never really been a Chrom supporter, but I'm surprised at you guys. It's a little too early to count him out, it's still possible there's a costume that switches them round or something. You never know.

I kid. Bit disappointed about Chrom but I'm satisfied with the Awakening love. I'm more disappointed with Lucina being a clone, and I'd rather not have had Chrom playable if he had that same fate. Robin looks fantastic and his final Smash looks great, so I can't complain. More shocked than anything really.

Wouldn't it be Awesome if Chrom and Lucina are the counter Part of Male and Female Robin? for example Lucina's Final Smash will be Male Robin while Chrom's Final Smash will be Female Robin....I really think that Chrom is still an alt for Lucina or Marth...The model is to damn detailed to be a Final Smash!

I felt really really really bad from chrom in the trailer, and then I saw him and was like, yes he's playable! And then I watched it again only to find out he is final smash. Damn...

I'm calling it that Sakurai only wanted Robin due to playstyle diversity, but with Lucina being IS's fave and most popular character, was heavily pushed. They wanted her so bad they agreed a clone would even be good enough. Chrom would've never been the third blue haired swordsman realistically.

This. I would like to see chrom playable, but if he I just a clone like Lucina is most likely, I'd rather wait for a potential dlc release. At least he is part of a cool final smash!

Well, I wanted Robin over Chrom and I got my wish. Sorry the trailer was so rough on Chrom supporters, it was funny but perhaps too much of a "**** you" if you really wanted the character.

Like, I am not saying it was...

But not only having Chrom's battered body splayed over the ground, but focusing the camera on it for so long and recording those voice lines just looked so deliberately cruel.

Hint being the "looked" part. I am sure Mr. Sakurai just wanted to make Captain Falcon seem so powerful as to have bested two of Yllise's finest, and thus increase the magnitude of Robin's descent by showing him as being an even match for the Captain.
