The leaker is full of himself honestly. I still think he had access to an early roster, but got kicked out after that and has been guessing ever since.

He could have or he just really scored lucky with guessing, we will never know for sure. Kind of glad, knowing it brought 2 totally new people instead of 1. I'll gladly axe Shulk & Chorus Men if it meant we get 4 other new people included.

Me either. It is pretty shocking. And Gematsu is in doubt now, too.

I will say, though, that seeing Chrom half dead on the floor is pretty much a Chrom thing. Each time you play the game, it happens to him twice, lol. For what it's worth, Chrom's reaction to not being playable was very much in-character, lol.

Poor Chrom... I genuinely felt terrible.

I feel very bad for you guys, at least you gave Chrom a lot support. I just hate it when people badmouth him gloat is supporters for no good reason.

Not going to point fingers here.. And actually it wasn't even much of a problem here on Smashboards, but if you looked at Chrom supporters on other websites, they were typically very obnoxious. So it's not like he didn't get hate for no reason at all.

Perhaps it's just me, but the trailer almost seems to show Chrom in a way that's mocking him.

No, I totally got that sense when watching the video as well. I felt like Sakurai was trying to say that Chrom would have been a weak addition to the roster..... But maybe I'm just reading into the trailer too much.

Either way, I agree that it did seem to be mocking Chrom.

I love Chrom as much as anyone, but all the same we have stated is true;
He was an Ike, sans headband, hair combed, cape bleeched and offset to the left, with fancy trousers.

I LOVE all three of the Awakening reps, but it was never going to happen. At least Lucina is supposed to be passing herself off as Marth, so her having Marth's moveset makes sense. There was no solace for Chrom.

It's not all bad, guys. We still have not three, but four Fire Emblem characters and still got a nice, shiny new model for Chrom. Not only that, but he could easily also be an alternate costume (with other Awakening characters taking his spot in the Final Smash if he's chosen).

Sorry to anyone that was looking forward to seeing Chrom be playable, I certainly thought he was going to make the cut. I mean, his model is in the game though, so there's always the possibility of DLC or an alt. costume.

Admittedly, it was nice to be surprised by a Smash reveal again. The Gematsu predictions had me convinced that the final newcomers had already been ousted.

To all the Chrom supporters out there:

Today is a day we will never forget. I am still stunned and shocked to see that Chrom, a character I feel had the whole essence of what a Smash character could be, won't be playable in the new installment. I even feel bad for how he was treated. Like literally, he was just tossed to the side . It will, and is, be nice that he makes a cameo in Robin's final sash, but it sucks he won't be able to have his own. Although I have never played the fire emblem series very much, I always had hopes for Chrom to be in this game. Sure Robin and Lucina look great (and congrats to all their fans), but I will miss Chrom.

Sorry guys. . . Like he said . . . . "maybe next time."

I'm personally very happy that we got Robin and Lucina, I wanted (at least) one of those two before Chrom but I did like him and would have been quite happy with him. Very shocked he was deconfirmed. I'd like to say that I'm sorry to the ones who really went full on to support him, but at least he is in, in his own way. His model looks very nice

Frankly, I think that's gonna be stuck on Chrom forever, really: I think it'll much like what Luigi's ridiculed (jokingly) about for being the forgotten understudy. Except a lot of the fandom + the developers seem to agree that he has nothing redeeming in return. A Sigurd-archetype?

In general, I think we have nothing to say against that argument now that Chrom's been just left lying down on the ground while playing a second fiddle to Robin's Final Smash. What could he have been? Well, that day might never come. I'm quite afraid this leaves a big, big dent on him and he'll be ridiculed for being a "fangirl bait" and "bland, uninteresting Lord" for rest of his existense. Unless SMT X FE saves him from the Scrappy Heap.

But eh, maybe the time will slowly pick the weeds from the grass.

Yeah, I'm very happy with Robin but Lucina just left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes, people may hate on Wii Fit Trainer, Miis, Pac-Man, and Greninja (for "stealing" Mewtwo's spot) but at least they are very unique... sad to say that Lucina is the first SSB4 newcomer I'm not happy with and it's only because she looks like Marth and she seems to be a Marth clone. I can understand making clones if there were time constraints but SSB4 have been in development for over 2 years now and that tells me that Sakurai purposefully made Lucina a clone.

Yeah, that was an incredibly harsh trailer to Chrom fans.

However, seeing as a I personally preferred Lucina (although I still would have been fine with Chrom), I saw the trailer more as a jab at the Gematsu leak, and I loved it for that.

Sakurai sure isn't ever very nice with his character disconfirmations, though. Ouch. =(

Well considering how Lucina has Falchion... and her design was basically "Marth" in disguise...

She is not "just a costume". She has her own page which lists her as a 'newcomer'. And on the mobile site which is less glitched up, she has the full sized newcomer image for the link to her page.

There is no question. Please quit spreading around misinformation. She may be a clone, and that's what is up to discussion. The question of whether she is a costume or not has been cleared up.

I doubt it. Nintendo has outright said that Chrom isn't playable to IGN.

They probably wouldn't go that far. (Especially for a character like Chrom that isn't a super wanted character like Ridley/Mewtwo)

EDIT: Also for the people upset over Lucina.. I'll just say that she was an easy clone to make so that's probably why they added her. Heck, her entire design is meant to closely resemble Marth.

So unless you would've been satisfied with Chrom as a Marth/Ike clone (like so many of you argued against), then don't try to point fingers at Lucina.
