Because the fans don't always know how to handle the translation or phonetics before there is an official localization.

Almost all Fire Emblem characters have had some ambiguity in how their names should be spelled, or how they will be handled by Nintendo's localization. Sometimes, we move on and get used to it. On the other hand, something tells me that a name like "Caeda" will never become acknowledged as the standard.

I'm pretty certain it's "Kyell"

Like "Yell" with a K in front. InB4 King K. Yell.

So, to make Chrom more unique, how about having him utilize the Falchion and Parallel Falchion (from Lucina) to fight.

Plus he'll be able to summon allies with some special moves.

"Caeda" is pronounced "see-da" like Caesar Salad. Her name is Gaelic if I'm not mistaken. Going from "シーダ" to "Caeda" is a pretty accurate translation.

No. I think that's why Sakurai revealed Ike so close to E3. Unless it has nothing to do with Chrom in E3 and he's unlockable...

I think the thrid FE rep will be unlockable, unless Ike is. But iirc everyone revealed other than Luigi is a starter, sooo...

As a writer myself, especially when it comes to games in particular, I always prefer if the names of important characters are simple to understand. Something like Kjelle, it's alright if we get fancy.

One could say that is all the more reason to reveal Ike now, so that they can have him appear in promotional material slated for e3.

Don't mind me in that case. I see most people calling foul at her name because it doesn't match the Japanese phonetics, except it does. I thought "Caeda" itself was simple enough to grasp. Why I didn't think of "Caesar Salad" upon first seeing it is beyond me.

As for having revealed Ike before Chrom, we are still unsure how unlockable characters will be handled in this game. Previously, Sakurai reveals them after the games release (with the exception of 3rd parties), but with the way this game has been changing things I'm not entirely sure how they're being handled. Either way, if Ike is a part of Chrom's trailer it'd make sense that he was shown before hand.

It could go either way. The way I see it, if he's not revealed at E3 then he'll be unlockable.

Yeah; if unlockability is still a thing, I'm still not convinced the characters we know about are all starters. (Toon Link and Luigi, as well as maybe one of Ike/Marth seem like good unlockable choices. Why have two starter Links?)

I get the feeling Sakurai doesn't care about character spoilers anymore, however. (Based on his reaction to Subspace spoilers) So I feel like if Chrom is unlockable, we'll still probably see him beforehand.
