Is it just me, or has anyone else not found a main yet? I got brawl the first day, have played endless hours, but still haven't found a main. I'm good with many characters, but it wasn't like melee for me. The first time I played Marth in melee I knew that was the one. Has anyone else had this transition problem?

Well, I already knew I was going to main Kirby ( no not like the hundreds of other nubs). I knew cus' me and kirby go wayyy back. Since the first kirby games. So I would kinda feel bad maining somone else. And turns out I liked Kirbies' style the best anyway. But I know a lot of people have this "issue". Actually, I would say the majority of people I know who Brawl either have no clue, or have like 3 mains. So no, you're not alone.

I knew who my main was even before he was announced. When I started hearing how Ike was a popular lord both in Japan and here in the US, I was set. Started using him the day Brawl came out here, haven't stopped yet. Don't plan to either.

I knew I was going to main marth when I found out that he hasn't changed much from melee. I have no idea who to use for a second though.

Now I play many characters but I have not found a main yet. I try to be good with them all. My bests are Ike, Snake, Pikachu, and there may be some more but I have not played them enough to really find out. So, for now, I'm going to follow Samurai Panda's example and say I main Random.

I actually had less trouble finding a main than I expected. I figured it'd be a tough choice between Marth, Pit, Sonic, and R.O.B., but instead it took me less than a day to realize I just had to main Lucas. I love how he fights too much not to. And that in spite of the fact that Brawl has far more characters I enjoy playing than Melee did (in Melee it basically amount to Marth and Link - in Brawl theres something like 6 characters I play regularly, and another 4 I use every now and then in addition to them).

I haven't really decided on my main yet..... I'm lookin at peach, bowser, and zero suit samus, but I haven't tried toon-link yet. Young link was one of my favorites in melee.

Well.. before I found out about Toon Link, Marth and Captain Falcon were my planned mains.

Soon as they announced him.. yeah. For sure. My 2417 hours played as Young Link were not in vain! I don't really like how Falcon and Marth play in Brawl in all honesty, T.Link has everything I liked from Young Link, some aerial combos that are similiar to Captain Falcon and Marth's from Melee, and a purple costume. Pretty much perfect.

As for a secondary eh.. If I'm not using T.Link I do Random most of the time, I play as Zelda and Snake quite alot though, mainly for kicks.

My advice to you, just play somebody who visually appeals to you, and see if you like their moveset.

I know how you feel: Samus, Pit, R.O.B., Wolf, Falco, Lucario, Lucas, Mario, Snake, Ike, Pokemon Trainer. Slightly: Shiek/Zelda, Mr. Game & Watch, Olimar.

Yes, I am pretty crazy.

It was really hard to decide for me. I settled on Toon Link, but Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer and Falco still interest me a lot.

Being the master of Pikachu in Super Smash Brothers Meele, I was almost sure I would reign supreme again with him in the new age of super smash brothers. However, to my great surprise, and to be blunt, I sucked. I was getting owned by my friends all the time...so then I just said no to Pikachu and chablam! Lucario it was.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem because when I choose a main I tend to stop experimenting with other chars. So I haven't had that much luck cutting down the list: Diddy, T-Link, Pit, Olimar, Pik, G/W, and Snake are still in there for me. Furthermore, I like chars that people say will have some of the more unpredictable metagames, so you can see how screwed I am.

I have my main: Pikachu. (me and him go way back, all the way to Pkmn Yellow)

Second in command is: Fox.

Up next comes: Lucas.

Finally there is: Pkmn Trainer. To be more specific, Squirtle.

Well I guess you could have figured that out from my sig. now couldn't you? Oh, well.

@ All those who don't have a main yet-

I hope you guys eventually find someone you bond to.

I was so looking forward to samus in brawl. I was a faithful samus main in melee and was pretty good but she is so hard to play competitively. I don't want to change my main but i don't know what else to do. My friend pick up, literally right then, olimar and beat my arse. He two stocked me. I'm still searching i guess

I'd planned on maining Ike or Sheik or Mr. Game and Watch. Ike was a no from day one... it was sad. Sheik was just a let down from being so beast in Melee. I knew she would get the nerfs she needed.. but still. Mr. Game and Watch is the only character in the game who feels the same from Melee, if not better. I can do best with him over any other character. So... he's my main now. I like Zero Suit Samus and Snake a lot but Zamus's recovery's something I'm not good with (yet?) and Snake.. idk I'm better with faster characters I guess. I don't really enjoy playing much of anyone else. Oh, maybe Ness or Pit.

Mr. Game and Watch is definitely my main now, but for a few weeks I couldn't figure out anyone I liked.

I've swayed in a few different directions.

The two characters that I actually like as characters and enjoy playing are Bowser and Sonic.
But I'm way better as a couple of other characters, which I don't think are exactly cool (Dedede) or don't know anything about (Marth).

And for some reason I feel like Pokemon Trainer is cheap. He can be whatever he needs to be.

Anyway, I got tired of winning all the time against my friends, so I'm maining Bowser and Sonic now... even though I rock as Dedede and Marth.

Is it even right to be dismissing characters as mains because they're too good?

I wanted to be a Samus main at first, but now, she's horrible to me. Now, it's Meta-Knight and the updated Mr Game & Watch fighting for me. And sometimes Ganondorf if done right.

I know for certain that I'll be playing as Diddy and Kirby, but my third I can't decide.

I had one main in Smash 64 (Kirby), two in Melee (Jiggs and Peach), and want three in Brawl.

I used to main Falco in melee, but after I realized he isn't as good as he used to be I stopped playing him in Brawl. It took me forever but I ended up maining Metaknight.

Ahh, it's funny how noone can find which character they want to main.

To be a true smasher, you have to specialise in one character. If you specialise in any more than one character, your cutting valuable training and preperation time in half (2 character), into thirds (three characters), fourths (4 characters) etc. Waste of time maining more than one person. Occassionally playing withother characters is okay, but you can't specialise in 2+ characters.

I know how you guys feel.
I have a friend whos been playing with mario since day one of smash 64.
And since then he's never lost...

Once I unlocked toon link I have been using him alot.
But before him, I was all fox since smash 64.
And I would feel bad not to make him my true main.
So I chose him, but toon link will always be a close second.

No. To be a true smasher you should be somewhat proficient in every character. Knowing your opponents weaknesses and being able to counterpick your characters weakness is a big part of being good.

I knew I was going to main Sonic before the game came out. I'm so glad he fits my style.
