Just wondering if there were any good recovery techniques for C. Falc, the only one i know of is the falcon kick to get the extra jump.

Ledge tech is THE best thing to know with CF's crap recovery.

Also DI-ing after using up+b to avoid an attack is good to practice, you can almost call this a mindgame. One example is doing an up+b over the edge and it looks like you'll land on the stage, but holding back as you fall so that you land grabbing the edge. Can lead to some missed fsmashes/capes/grabs.

Then there's air dodge one direction -> fall the opposite direction.

Learn when to reverse upB. It can save you from capes and many Fsmashes. Get to know that window where you can catch the ledge facing away from it.

Also, learn to wall jump when necessary to recover. This almost always catches people off guard, as Falcon's wall jump is fast and goes far.

Internet. Serious Business.

Wall-Jump recoveries are really easy on Yoshi's Story. It's probably my favorite Cap'n stage cause it's so easy to get off KOs too

lol side B? does anyone actually use that?

i never thought it would be smart to use it in that way.
isai does it occasionally. as long as you dont accidentally hit someone and not make the edge you are in a better place than the upb as there is very low land lag (think fox's sideb compared to upb onto a platform).

probably the best place to do it is on YS and go for the platform, usually even if u hit the person you will either land on the platform or grab the edge.

If you're level with the stage, and your opponent wants to go offstage to finish you off, you can stomp or Knee after your second jump and catch them off guard.

i don't think you can technically sweetspot, but in all practicality it is possible to time and angle the up-b without much room for punishment. i've avoided a few methods of attack (capes, fsmashes, dsmashes) by narrowly grasping the edge.

if you're technical enough, you should try to practice walljump teching into an air dodge. you can get on the stage in no time.

lol and if you're going to use over-b to get back onto the stage, only do it once. any good players can exploit that in awesome ways..haha, like jumping into you while you're too far out and meteor canceling its effects.

lastly, i think i've seen SS do a few tricky recoveries by up-bing really, really early, and just using DI to avoid things, to make it back to the stage. its super mindgames.

oh yeah, and with the proper timing you can falcon kick and get the edge immediately. it's not like a firefox sweetspot or anything, but it's effective in my experience at least in teams.

In my experience, it's usually better to play it straight and recover as far into the stage as you can. You'll almost always get hit, but Falcon is so heavy that you can usually just shrug it off as long as you DI well (which is the most important part of recovering well, by the way). Once your opponent starts expecting this, you can recover high but then drift back to the ledge (all the cool Falcons are doing it these days).

I recommend using the forward-B to recover. It can be good as something unexpected to do every so often. Edge cancelling your up-B's is also pretty nifty and can be helpful to the point where it's worth practicing it.

edge-cancelled up-bs? On recovery? How does this work exactly...if you don't mind explaining it.

I just can't seem to picture it in my head. : /

If you up-b and land on the edge of a ledge, say on yoshi's story, you'll fall off and reduce pretty much all the lag.

Yep entirely possible. DI'ing your up B is basically falcons best recovery "trick" since he has a lot of control over it as opposed to many other characters.

doing this along with just going for sweetspot techs works decently for me. also, if you have a double jump handy, using an aerial to knock your opponent out of the way is another viable option.

Yea sometimes I go for a fair as I recover, and usually the failed knee is unexpected and it will knock em back enough to give me breathing room on the edge.

My apologies for the spam.
