Anyone else think Mr. Game and Watch should Return?

Another reason people might have believed GAW doesn't deserve to return in Brawl is because of the infamous rumor that nobody believes anymore, with WW Link, Ridley, and Bowser Jr...

Then the ICs returned, and in my opinion, that seemed to spell well for GAW. Proves that Sakurai STILL loves his old-schoolers, even if they weren't exactly top-tier in Melee.

And if he doesn't get in, I will accept NO new flat characters. Paper Mario's always been a "heck no" for me. Same for Waluigi, Blaziken, Baby Mario & Baby Luigi tagteam, etc...

And as for the people who suggest that he becomes 3-D... that completely defies physics. All the other fighters would become 2-D because of that dimensional rift.

For those who follow the "I sucketh with thee (Marth, GAW, ICs, or Falco to name but a few of those "thee"s) so therefore thou shalt be eliminated from Brawl" commandment... I am HORRIBLE with GAW. But I still continue to play as him from time to time just because he's so much fun. You can't just focus on strict tournament play all the time.^^

Although, I don't think GAW will get any fancy makeovers if

Yes, Mr. Game & Watch should return. Because his moves are unique and really cool. His moveset shouldn't change. And there's no character like him. But I don't know what his final smash should be.

Yeah I agree. (Except for the heck no for Waluigi) Just because a character is not the best character doesn't mean they should be taken out. And it does have alot to do with how fun it is to use that character. Somebody's gonna be good with them anyway. But on Brawl, the weaker characters like Mr. G&W will probably have their stats changed to be a little bit better.

In my opinion Mr Game and Watch was a waste of good space for a GOOD character. I remember when I first unlocked him. I was like WTF? Are U serious!? I unlocked a character who has one pixle? He throws bacon! Wow thats really Smash-Tastic! He is unworthy of being in brawl! I think everyone who appears in brawl should blow the players mind. We should be in a state of shock when we unlock them thinking, Wow I can't believe they added this character! Or OMG I always wanted to play as this character in this game! Since Mr. Game and Watch is one of my mains, I'm looking forward to seeing him return to Smash Brothers, even if he ends up being one of the last secret characters like before.
Thankfully unlike some characters, he has a lot of evidence that pretty much means he's as good as in, like being a golden nugget of Nintendo history, having a REALLY unique moveset and appearance, and also that whole Smash Franchise icon theory that means his franchise has got to be in otherwise the nice order Nintendo has set will be broken.

You're right about Mr Game and Watch being a historical icon but I still think he's a waste of good space. If u want a historical Nintendo character they could bring in the Retro DK From the arcade. Or even Balloon Fighter but not G&W. As surprising as this may sound, I was totally disappointed when I unlocked everything in Melee because I thought there would've been another character to unlock besides Mr G&W . He's a simple character with a simple design. Like I said earlier in this Thread, All of the characters in Brawl should all be mind blowers. Like Solid Snake. Thats unbelievable! I'm even excited about Wario because of the simple fact that he's Mario's Archrival. What would be the point of having Mr G&W, Entertainment? He wasn't even entertaining. FRIED BACON!? Personally, I think the opposite is true - at least with the first three examples you've given. People are going to be more upset about a character they've been playing for years getting the axe than the non-inclusion of a new character who may never have stood a chance anyway. Plus, people should bear in mind that just because their favourite character gets added to the roster doesn't mean they'll be remotely enjoyable to play as: Just look at how much demand there was for Mewtwo to be added to Melee, and yet because of his odd controls he's one of the least popular fighters. This is why people get so anxious about veteran fighters returning: a character that you've mastered is going to hold more sentimental value than a newcomer who may or may not be any good. I'm all for the inclusion of Midna this time around, but if it was a toss-up between her and my beloved Ice Climbers returning, I know who I'd pick...

And really, the argument that "x has taken y's spot" holds very little water, especially in this context. Unless Sakurai was to go on the record and say "We thought about adding Waluigi, but we decided to bring Mr Game & Watch back instead", then you've no reason to assume that his return wasn't planned from the start.

Plus, I'm no programmer, but I can only imagine that the graphical data for Mr Game & Watch would take up a microscopic amount of space on the disc. He's two colours, 2D and has by far the simplest animations of any character. So it's especially meaningless to assert he'll have taken anyone else's slot, if his data is a fraction the size of other characters'.

I strongly disagree. Even though Mewtwo isn't a character one would choose to play a serious match, doesn't mean he wasn't an entertaining character to play as. I was actually excited when I unlocked him, unlike Mr G&W. And for the record, he was flipping food that was shaped like an S, bacon. But I jus didn't find him entertaining. He was too simple for me. It was sooooo fun playing as one of my favorite Pokemon, Mewtwo. Even tho he was very light it was still fun. I wanna see as many playable characters as possible! But I don't wanna see something like Mr G&W in Brawl. He should be in a game on the DS or something. Not on the Wii.

Honestly, Tell me who plays as Mr G&W and enjoys it? Diddy Kong looks like he'll be fun to play with, Solid Snake looks fun to play with, Sonic REALLY looks fun to play with but Mr G&W is just BORING. Why have him return? I love playing as Mr. Game & Watch. Smacking people with his chair, key, credit card etc. etc. His low FPS movements just reek awesome. All of his beeps and that expression...I love it.

I think Mr. Game & Watch has good chances not just for his uniqueness but his true purpose which was as a dedication to the Game & Watch's creator. Mr. Sakurai has stated his love for retro characters and that SSB is dedicated to the fans and creators of all of these games so I think Mr. Game & Watch is an obvious pick.
