True, assuming 35, if they remake/replace Ganondorf, Pichu, Falco, Young Link, and Dr. Mario, we're seeing a lot more than just a 10 character increase.
Also, I think a lot of people on these and other boards have focused so much on the game that we've already become jaded by reading info on new, interesting characters like P. Trainer without having even played the game, so the unlockables seem too few.
Yep. Exactly. Sakurai said he'd limit unlockables because most would be spoiled quickly in online play anyway.
Plus Sonic and Snake were shown to us to create hype.
But if we didn't know about that, and some of the new characters that are starters were secrets, we'd be probably a lot happier about the final roster because we weren't aware of it as quickly.
It was a double edged sword on his part. Even if the 35 character roster's false and 3-4 more characters everyone wanted make it in, people are still going to be less wowed because he showed so much already that we've grown accustomed to, almost spoiled, really.
I just like a little "bang" with my unlockables. Not a feeling of..."wait...I've seen them before"
But have you? We don't know how they've changed.
When I first got Tekken Tag (my first Tekken game :D), I had NO idea who I was unlocking. After a while, I see Kunimitsu, I see Lee Chaolan, and I think, "wow, I did NOT see this coming. This game is awesome!"
Did you go on forums for that particular game for a solid 2 years? Were there leaks, real or otherwise?
Point is, I liked the surprises I unlocked. Honestly, Lucario and Wolf being the only two newcomer characters I LIKE to unlock will kinda disappoint me. At least throw in a Geno, a Micaiah, a Krystal or a Ridley.
Yep. But as I said, that was Sakurai's intention from the beginning. Most surprises aren't surprises because they'd be ruined for you via online play anyway.
That's a silly rationale on his part, and I think he should've kept Snake and Sonic as trump cards. But he did what he did, and you guys need to realize the roster's great, you're just not focusing on what's already there because you're so used to it.
