I can do nearly all techs, but as people say, you need to be able to pull them off in game, when needed, mortar sliding, for me, is useful when i want to get somewhere fast, so i do it across the stage and utilt lol :p

But yeah, i wouldn't call you a pro, but you seem determined which is one step close. Good luck with what you're doing and keep up the practice!

I think this is probably an appropriate thread to quote Snake himself on this topic. During his Codec conversation about Link: "Gear is only useful when used at the right time and place. Just lugging a ton of it around doesn't do you any good." Which is true for his various moves and tricks :)

tbh the only time I really played with him was yesterday but I knew how to do the mortar stuff so I just had to test it a couple of times, but I really liked playing with him cause I won like 95% of the time heheh
I know the stuff mentioned here except b-reversal, I don't see how it is useful can someone explain please?

ur not close to pro if u can just do that u have to know all the other stuff, but sometimes u dont even need to know that, like in melee i knew how to use sheik fox falco luigi c.faclon and ganondorf, then i three stocked my brothers marth with my roy just because i had mindgames even though i didnt know any techs with roy, so go to tournaments get better become one of the best in ur state then go to bigger tournaments with other people best in their state then become one of the best in the us then u are pro

When can do THIS consistently in the correct situation and it makes you win tournaments, then you'll be "pro". That or you can get sponsors which will make you pro.

you should learn c4 drop
not the recovery trick but when youre in midair above the stage drop a c4 so if the opponent tries to juggle you(which pisses me off) you detonate it when they jump
idk if u can understand that but it has won some matches for me

I played as Snake for a while before learning the mortar slide and I was still awesome. Even now, I don't even use it that much unless it is a good scenario to use it.

Also, I think this thread may be a joke mocking most Snake players who say they are "pro" as all they do is mortar slide

That has gotten me so many kills too. Part of being an expert snake player..actually a very large part is how you use your projectiles. Its easy to drop c4 on the ground and activate it when your opponent's guard is down. But can you use it in other ways like how Cheeta has mentioned. But there are many other ways to use your projectiles. Try some of these techiques:

Using C4 to activate a Landmine (your Down +A smash attack). If you can do that you can go a step further. You can use C4 to activate Grenades and Landmines. For example: I won a match because I set a C4 next to Landmine and tossed two grenades at my opponent. I didn't "Cook" them because I knew he would try to jump over them to get to me. So when the C4 is set on the left side of the Landmine and one Grenade is bouncing above the Landmine and the other Grenade is above that one. I activate C4 which triggers the Landmine which triggers the Grenade triggering the other Grenade forming an "L" shape. The result was my opponent was hit by the Grenade that was higher up in the air..killing him.

If you can create paths and shapes with your explosives and chain off of them thats pretty advanced. You can also do the same thing with Nikita (the forward+B guided missile) by using it to detonate some of your others explosives.

Also consider how skilled you are using Mortars. Its good that you can Mortarslide but you can expand on it and combo off of it. You can use your U-throw to toss someone into an airborne Mortar after Mortarsliding for a surprise 20%+ on your opponent. You can go a step further off of that and use a U-Tilt or U-Air after doing that.

Being pro with any character has a large part to do with taking existing concepts and making them your own. Any Snake can Mortarslide but can you combo with it?. Most snakes know that Snakes F-Tilt and U-Tilt are great moves but can you use them in a different way?

Part of being a great Snake player is realizing that you have so many options in your arsenal. You have limited moves but so many ways to use them. Being a pro Snake in particular requires timing and patience and the ability to stay 2 steps ahead of your opponent. (Like Shikamaru if you watch/read Naruto at all) Mind games are key for long range characters. Snake can only really surprise people with Mortarsliding (which becomes rather easily predicted after a while), C4 (if your careful and watch the ground you can see it) and Landmines (same concept as C4). His Grenades don't explode unless hit with fire or after their time has expired in others words you can see them coming. Nikita is extremely obvious to spot. Its slower than Samus' missiles. So you have to get tricky with these projectiles. I personally find that shooting Nikita directly at someone then arcing up slightly then canceling it with the L or R button works wonders for psyching people out. And if your deceptive enough you can "train" someone to catch your Grenades. What good does that do you? Cook them and throw them at your opponent so that it explodes when they catch it or when they try to throw it. Quite useful. Theres more but I don't want to bore you if you're not feeling what I'm saying. ;)

Anyway thats the end of my rant. Hope it helped.

You're not pro with Snake until you know how to instill fear in the hearts of men and then capitalize on it mercilessly.
