You definitely need to approach Brawl with a more creative mindset. Simply trying to play it like Melee does not work.
The first thing I did was go to Classic with Mario. My first match was against Link. Very first thing I tried to do instinctively and failed hard was wavedash. Throughout the enitre game I was just airdodging into the air instead of wavedash, so that takes some getting used to, not much, though. After about 5 or 8 matches you should be fine. I also find, despite their being no L-Cancel, me hitting my R button to try and cancel the lag. It's just habit.
As for Falco... I've played him a little bit. I like him, but I'm not sure about him as a very strong character. His short hop laser doesn't seem too practical. No approaching or anything with it, just to do some damage or stop an attack. His up tilt is very good, IMO. Falco is interesting and if you were used to playing Melee Falco Brawl Falco will be a big change. I keep trying to do Melee Falco's nair but getting a complete (and often less effective) result. You'll have to say for yourself.
As for the game itself... it's great. I beat SSE and I unlocked the characters and most the stages. It took me awhile to realize I was playing Brawl, though. Like... I don't know. Just in the middle of a match it hit in my the face... I was playing Brawl. It was an interesting and awesome sensation.
So, how does this sound. this Saturday, aka tommorrow, at my house at 6:00 PM. You are more than welcome to spend the night. In fact, I encourage it.
Invite List: GoldenGlove (Steven), Delux (David), Zenkai (Kendric), AlphaBravo (Paul), Orion, and Jacob won't be able to come, so... whatever.
That's who I am inviting. If anyone else wants to come, tell me so, and I'll see if you can. We need someone to take Jacob's spot anyways, probably Destry.
