There's a reason I said I was doing "research". We have like 600+ trials, complete with chi-square analysis, etc. I know what I'm doing here.
I probably shouldn't get you guys too excited though in case I don't get around to publishing it... which is looking probable at this point since we're having a hard time narrowing down the exact nature of the relationship. (This is the tabulated data so far.)

Them level 9 comps are too good.

Each game picks its random variable from something in the game data that changes every match (total games played, total percentage). Who knows what it is, but for the best results, test on different copies of the game to compensate for anything that might be coincidence within your own copy of the game.

The whole basis of modern science is that it's impossible to state anything with 100% confidence. The 'theories' that drive our understanding of the world are simply the best hypotheses available to explain the data we know, and are only good as long as nobody finds something to disprove them.
That said, there are ways to reduce the uncertainity though. The simplest is to increase the number of trials. In your example, you use 6 trials. No scientist would accept such a low sample as proof. A interesting feature is that the more trials you run, the closer you get to a truly accurate measure. This is why Colin's already got 600 trials.
This is also why big surveys always report their results as "accurate to within x percentage points, 19 times out of 20".

Next month I'll let you know (hence why I haven't confirmed CAST4 registration yet) if I have access to a car. If I do, I'd be more than happy to carpool a few guys to Red Deer.

Alright, so I am thinking smash at my place on Saturday. Anyone is welcome. Melee only (sorry DMK, Colin, and Jarret). My house is never in abundance of snacks, so ya know... If you wanna come, tell me on msn at Koolerthanu@hotmail.com for my address and phone # and whatnot.

I am just saying sorry for creating an environment that pretty much excludes them. If they held brawl only, I would come as well, because I play brawl too.
Who cares, there are only 2 tvs in Luke's basement, why waste one with Brawl?
Also, i'm coming to Edmonton on Friday unti Monday. Smash anyone?
