Against Ganondorf?

I started a new thread because I really need good advices to beat my friend, who is maining Ganondorf.

It seems that no matter how hard I train, I can't be better than he is, we're at the same level, it's just that I am a very technical player, and he's more about mindgames. The worst is that my friend doesn't even have the game, he only plays when I bring my Gamecube.

Sometimes I feel I should stop playing this game, cause I don't feel i'm geting any better against him...

I can't Techchase him, he somehow spotdodges right before my grab, resulting in HIM grabbing me, and comboing... Like if I react too slow when I see him Rolltech left or right, my guesses are always wrong...

That's about it, I only need general advices against Ganon...

Wanting to stop playing because you keep losing is the exact opposite of what you want to do. Playing people who are better(for whatever reason) is key. Anyway, having a video recorded would be extremely useful in this situation. Are you able to?

But anyway, from what I have read you have some reaction and mindset issues. Why are you telling yourself you "can't" tech chase? Once you grab at low percents, down/up throw and let the tech chasing begin. Grabs can be achieved through multiple methods. Dash dancing properly at the right distance and waiting for a flinch from your foe is one way.

But as for tech chasing, you are probably reacting way too quickly before your friend has even done anything. Don't be afraid to stay still and watch what your opponent is doing. After you up/down throw him, don't move...just watch where he goes. He goes left, you run left grab. He misses his tech put up your shield and anticipate a wakeup attack. Its all watching and reacting.

If your friend spot dodges before your grab then you aren't reacting quick enough. Falcon has insane running speed so you have plenty of time to get to them. Again, you aren't "guessing." You are watching and reacting.

What other advice do you require? Do you know how to edge guard Ganon? Using Falcon's up tilt and forward tilt are very sexy edge guarding tools.

I like to dash dance instead of stand still when I wait to predict where my opponent's going. The only time you guess when you tech chase is when you try to tech chase with like a stomp or a falcon punch.

i just wanna add to miggz post, if he's constantly spot dodging, just wait for the spot dodge, it's one of the easiest ways to punish. if your in one of the situations where he usually spot dodges, just charge a smash and see if he spot dodges, then hit him with it after it's done. or just wait and grab after he dodges.

its not as easy a matchup as most people say. his uair is ****ing strong and ***** your empty shorthop mindgames and fair is a beast. he edgeguards you at any % and your only hope is for them not to DI your throws correct, in which you can follow with nair -> regrab

i reccomend dthrow at low %'s to techchase as he can wiggle out of a uthrow -> nair

if you are finding it hard to react in time or finding it hard to do something (out of your tech range) try looking at it from another angle.

your friend always spot dodges after he techs. so next time run up to him, stop in front of him and grab him when the spotdodge ends. if he did something different (maybe he rolled backwards) take note of that. next time be ready to run after his roll.

nair

that is all

remember to DI back

You'd think he's being an ******* but this guy is 100% correct.

Bait ganon into commiting himself to an arial attack that has some lag even after the lcancel, like a fair or a dair. Really any move that has some lag after it (the upsmash has next to 0 btw).

If you can get a grab, tech chase him into a dair. ONLY DAIR IF YOU KNOW 100% YOURE GOING TO HIT. Otherwise it's a lot safer to just follow and regrab until you can read his tech.

Remember, chain grabbing sucks but it's legit and you should become proficient at it before you choose whether to use it or not use it in friendlies.

At around 60+ (? confirmation from a knowledgeable falcon please) you can start mixing your grabs up by either upthrowing or downthrowing. The upthrow can lead into arial combos galore and after a little more percent (80-90? more confirmation please) you can downthrow into a knee

Ganon is a really easy target for falcon. If you're real technical, you should just throw out low lag attacks outside his punishment range, dash dance a lot, and be patient for something you can work off of. A lot of times when I play falcons, one hit easily becomes five with me usually off the stage.

Once ganons in the air and not in the middle of an arial attack, you can combo him up down left right inwards outwards.
