Speed did 2-0 Chu but Chu 2-0'd him back. Then at the MDVA championship Chu got him again. The gimmick died. Its hard to stay consistent with Sonic because you always need to be a step ahead. I dont care how good most of you think you are. You won't be as consistent in large scale tournies going all Sonic.

I will indeed take it upon myself to break that though. By timing out the best of the best :)

btw, who started that lame spelling for sonic lol?
I'm sorry, I probably have something to do with "Sawnik" being the new fad or whatever. :(

I feel that there's only so far that speed and mindgames will get you. I just want to see a really gay playstyle that wins.
You're going to love watching me play SK92's Wario... and let me tell you now, it wasn't a friendly, and you may want to get some popcorn once the set is uploaded.

Also, please don't trashtalk once you people understand what I'm talking about. I don't want credit until I can beat his Falco.

Oh Speaking of Falco, don't try to camp him, it won't work.

Planking is a different story, but whether you're willing/risking to be that gay, I'll leave that up to you to decide.

In a way, but as Sonic, it could come down to the opponent not knowing the MU. In those matches, you can (i still wouldnt recommend it unless you KNOW its gonna work) go aggro and get them caught up in some pretty crazy things. Or, you're just a better player overall and can predict and punish the other player's habits. Its up to you, since Sonic is so flexible.

Pretty much. :)
Just be sure to know what to do next. :o
Yeah, if your opponent isn't experienced, you can get away with it, just gotta watch. Sonic is flexible, which is why matchup ratios almost mean nothing, he has that many options.

hahah nah, just for low tiers in general. i don't see sonic going back down anytime soon, and not everyone allows sonic in low tiers nowadays lol. also, mario is helping my sonic get back to basics and slow down a bit. i think it's a good combination :D

I always thought it was because of how the Brawl announcer says his name. Sounds like he says "SAW-NIK".

Oh Speaking of Falco, don't try to camp him, it won't work.

This.

Plank him, everyone. Falco's are lame, and deserve to be planked. You'll feel really good about how he has no options against you off of the level.

That is assuming people don't call you out on stalling.

And oh, I'm really freaking hype/r, and the bracket got uploaded tonight, All that = One helluva tourney summary comnig your way at Super Scourge Sonic speed!

Yeah, it may look like I only placed in the middle for both brackets, but I assure you, I can haz accomplishment before the year ends. Keep reading...

Friday:

I played Monopoly... God that game takes so long to finish! DX

Saturday:

Invited Tails over for a session of Smash... got some practice in.

Sunday:

Woot, I go to the tourney... one T.V. is gone, so we have less set-ups. D: That's no good, because I wanted to play some friendlies with people, but we were on such a shortage... oh well.

We didn't have that big of a turn-out, but darnit some amazing @#$% went down I swear to you.

Dubs got canceled, aww... Nobody but me & Tails and the TO and his GF wanted to play dubs. :(

Regular bracket starts!

I beat up a little kid... I swear to you, Vic has me has the clean-up crew... I can't believe I have to keep beating up small children and/or people who don't know how to play this game competitively to get to the top... but I had to do it if I wanted to get anywhere, so I have no regrets... Hanenbow is legit though. XD

Big buff SK92 (namedrop)!! My God, I don't know why he went Wario against me, but sadly it worked. I wish I had more time prior to warm-up, but again, with a lack of T.V.s, not much could be done. I wonder if I can even blame my loss on not having warmed-up, or if I just suck. Regardless, he plays a very Gay Wario, running away from me and airdodging and all that stuff. Gah. Second match, I somehow managed to maintain a lead the whole time, until I kill myself on the last stock. I felt sadface :(, I am the reason I lost to SK92, not because he outplayed me on that last stock or whatever.

But you know what?

I got mad. Yes, i(was)Mad. I couldn't help it though, Vegassmash gives me so much Baloney about "80:20 Wario's Bite's favor" or "100:0 Wario" when I know that crap isn't true. Am I to just sit there, and mourn over my lose?

Hell @#$%ing no son. I had enough of it, so I challenged SK92 to a $5 Money Match against his Wario. I'll be honest, I didn't challenge him thinking I'd win, I just wanted to not lose in such a humiliating manner. I didn't exatly challenge him for the main purpose of getting everybody to finally shut up about some faulty Matchup, in fact if I lost, this would've just solidified their side. I challenged him because of instinct.

So some money gets thrown down, we play out the first match... and... I... won...?!

"How?! Meh, t'was a fluke" I thought. It's only the first match, but a very important one regardless. I now had the advantage, even if I had lost. I still didn't let my guard down though, I he picks his stage (and strangely enough, he goes back to FD, where we first played), and... I win... again... wut?!?

I didn't expect to win this one for sure! I thought he would've read my style by now and proceed to 3-1 me... You'll have to watch the video, I can't tell you how that might've happened, but it did, and no matter how much anybody can discredit it, it happened.

So we play a third match. Things get really heated because time is going on by, and Vic was telling me how I was holding up the tourney because I had challenged Kyle who also had matches. That wouldn't change my gameplan though, if SK92 was going to play this defensively, I was more than ready to play this set out to the very last second out of the possible 35 minutes it could've been.

...But... the set only went to 3 matches and 21 minutes...?! H'oh my God, I just defeated SK92's Wario without having to time him out (None of the matches went to time, surprisingly)! SK92 had a very good attitude about losing... better than I did when I lost to him in-tourney anyway (no, I didn't throw a hissy fit, I just hit my head against the table (I'm masochistic) and still shook his hand when I lost). It was only 5 dollars, and he had a good chance of winning the biggest cut out of the pot anyway because he's that goo, so I don't think he had any reason to be angry. It was also his Wario, I'm sure everybody knows that if he went Falco what the outcome will be... we'll see though, SK92 did say I had gotten better, and I'm beginning to learn the Falco MU a bit thanks to some acquaintances of mine... Only time will tell that... but for now, I get to go home a winner.

Vic hates me now because Approximately 20 minutes have been lost thanks to me, and my Sonic, and his lack of kill moves... but I don't think he'll hold that against me. The tourney still ended early, a 15-man turnout and doubles canceled, and suddenly torunaments end hours before they normally do.

But I'm just fastforwarding, of course I didn't get these results just winning a simple MM, oh Heavens no.

I play Wynn, who... is a Diddy/Olimar player? I'm not sure who he mainly plays, his AiB says Olimar, but his Diddy gives me more trouble... maybe that's just me, because I destroy any generic LOLimar players, but have trouble with even the most predictable of Diddy Kong(uh)s (Kongos...?!). I lost the first match to his Diddy, he CPs Olimar... I win the 2nd match with an easy 2-stock low/mid %. He goes backto Diddy, and I forget where we CP, but somehow I must've gotten suddenly better against Diddy Kong, because I won the third match. It was a good fight, I really like this guy.

And then I lose to Hino. I forgot to ban Japes against Falco. :< I need to remember, I might've won.

And I also learned that you cannot cancel an Air-Dash if you don't have your second jump. I'm warning all of you to be careful, because I killed myself and couldn't stop myself. A lesson I shall not soon forget.

Oh let's see, I play Amateurs. I didn't try to win Amateurs, I was too tired from the match with SK92 and something else... uhm... that's why you see I still lost to Hino again, and why I lost to Wynn once again. You could say I sandbagged, but also that I was experimenting with something new. again, I didn't take amateurs too seriously, I took it as just some extra friendly matches I paid $3 for, blah. Maybe I should start trying, so that I czn win money.

I did however defeat MetalFalcon, so yeah, it's not like I sandbagged my way to last place.

Yeah that's it for this tourney. If any of you are curious to see how the MM between me and SK92 (and his Wario) went, check out Tails' Youtube channel. The first match is already uploaded, the next two should follow shortly after. Tails said he'd try to get them in by the end of this week at the latest, but his owns the footage, so we'll see.

I dont know about you but for some strange reason, Ive never seen a time out in a sonic ditto...

sonic cant kill for crap. sonic is really good at evasion and not getting hit.

you go up a stock, and you can camp the mess out of the other sonic and get him up to like 100.

shield camp the crap out of sonic, he cant do anything about it until he up throws you at like 200

talk of sonic dittos reminds me of this match
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyKJQ-HBgMc

i remember it because of the ending mostly. I like sonic dittos because I can just play the game usually. and its all about outhinking them as fast as possible. that's fun to me. i dont think i play as agressive as i ever do when im dittoing another sonic.

I'm not going to post much about my matches for right now. I'll edit this later since I'll be uploading the remaining two money matches between Kinzer and SK92...which will take like about 4 hours to do because I know the file size will be huge...ugh. At least it will give me something to do while waiting. To my internet and computer...'YOU'RE TOO SLOW!!!"

BTW Kinzer, you put the wrong link for the first money match. You put the link to the tournament results, not to the video.

Sorry about that. Currently uploading the second match so I have time now to tell you what happened. As usual, my performance is still the same but it's been improving little by little

Like Kinzer mention, doubles were canceled due to a lack of entries. I think it was only me/Kinzer, SK92/HebrewHammer and probably Vic/Teresa who enter doubles. That's a bit sad, but oh well.

For singles, I had to play against MetalFalcon again. First match he played as Rob and got down to the last stock and I lost to him because he fired his lasers at me pushing me into the blast zone. For the second one I CP Yoshi Island and he CPed Wolf on me this time. Because of SDRi which I will admit I did kinda spam it a bit I was able to defeat him. Then he CP Frigate on me and went back to Rob. I was in the lead most of the match. When we got to our last stock, he started to Fair me towards the blast zone. I was able to get out of it, but I wasted my second jump and I wasn't thinking to use Homing Attack to get back so I used my spring. Unfortunately he got back to the stage first and grab me resulting into my death and lost to him.

For my second set, I had to play against his brother, DangerPowers. First match he went as Snake. His Snake was easy for me to beat. I seriously fail at trying to grab release out of his up-B. I tried so many times, but I couldn't. I did once, but stupid me, I accidentally pummel him. I was able to gimp him on his last stock when he was trying recover from under the stage, his parachute hit me and killing him. For the second match, he went Fox and CPed Frigate on me as well. This time I didn't get grab released but I was able to defeat him. I think one was a suicide kill he did.

For my last set in singles I had to play against Hino and his Falco. Just straight up, I kept running into attacks and getting chained grab which I couldn't get out of. Also he did punished me on many of my bad moves that I did, ie Spring>Dair.

Now for Amateur.
First set I had to play against VidPower. Last time I played him I lost to him. First match we both banned two of the neutral stages. I banned Final Destination and he banned Battlefield so we had to go to Smashville. I won in that match by him getting it by my spring when he tried to recover back on the stage with his jet pack. For the second match, he CPed Delifino Plaza, got him down to his last stock but I lost to him on that thanks to banana trip into forward smash. Then I CPed Frigate for the first time. I usually CP Yoshi Island, but I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable playing on Frigate, compare to what happened back at Kinzer's tournament. Anyway, I took out his first two stocks within the first minute. First stock when he was recovering, I bair him right into the stage which resulted into a stage spike that he couldn't recover out of. Then the second stock I got him onto the right side of the stage. He went below the stage and I used my spring when he was trying to recover which killed him. He did get one stock off of me before I finished him. I was happy to defeat VidPower this time.

Second set, once again I had to play against Hino...I'm not going any further. Just pure death to me

Final set I had to play against Drex and his Lucario. I got him down to his last stock before I died on the first match. During the second match, we had to pause the match because the people who were using my Wii for Brawl+ froze. He did agree to pause it so I can go over to my Wii and fix it. I did lose to him when recovering back to the stage thanks to Aura Balls. If Kinzer didn't practice with me with Lucario, it could of been a 3 stock for one of the matches.

I'm pretty happy about my performance, but not too much though. Kinzer pointed out I need to do instant-edgehoggin a lot more. Problem is I can't do it. I've been practicing it, but I can only do it one the left side of the stage like 40% of the time and the right side, like only 5% of the time. Hopefully I'll get it down before I attend my next tournament, but I'm just worried even if I get it down, will I be able to apply it into battle where it counts? Hopefully I will. I still have a few habits I really need to work on like the Spring>Dair issue, but eventually I'll get it down.

The remaining two money matches between Kinzer and SK92 should be up later today.

X EDIT: results for the tournaments a few weeks ago!

7th out of 48 at world 2-2
http://allisbrawl.com/event.aspx?id=6992

and

7th out of 42 at MOS#5
http://allisbrawl.com/event.aspx?id=6992
I couldn't find the results to this "MOS#5" tournament, since the links to this and World 2-2 are the same. What was the full name of the tournament?

Oh, and I fished for your R3 results too. Many thanks.

First post updated again. My schedule for tournaments looks full for the next two to three months, and I'm adding another one in January sometime soon...

Jeez.

Wallstreet Presents: Crewfest! First Tourney of the Year!! - Happy New Year! XD

Teams
Kojin (Sonic) and Bertboxer (kirby) : 7th
highlight: beat SSR and Deez 2-0 in the first round

Singles
Kojin (Sonic): 17th
Beat Pulse (Meta) 2-1
Loss Omni (Meta)0-2
Beat 22 (Snake) 2-0
Beat Kyuzo (DK) 2-0
Loss Kadaj (f*ucking Marth) 0-2

If a few things went differently (aka NOT playing against Omni) I would have top 10 easily i think. also, I hurt my hand at the tourney. it was odd, it just cramped up outta nowhere in the middle of an intense team match something fierce. i basically played handicapped the rest of the evening.

Homing Attack is more useful, and I proved it when I killed Omni with it on an edgegaurd attempt. and I rarely got punised for it offstage, even when i missed.

I hate the marth matchup with a passion. i can't beat 'em.

see yall at pound.

Do you ASC on impulse around Marth? I did, and probably still, do that. If you stay grounded as often as possible, I find that the match-up becomes far more managable.

I once heard something, I think DEHF first said it.

The way to beat marth, is to wait til he swings his sword, and then hit him.

Really simple but really effective.

I wait for him to swing the sword, then close inbetween attacks, weaving in and out to disrupt proper spacing of aerials.

anticipate side B as main punisher, and determine tendancy to end it early (usually after the first part of side B) and go for a grab or do the whole thing. then punish.

Do my best to not give him free damage from edgegaurd.

Do not fall for Marth's tendacy to UpB Oos to kill me at high percents.

stay grounded. limit Spin dash special usage.

When offstage, use spring and homing attack at differnt times to help gimp recovery. (this is more or less what i personally do; you may not agree so ignore this statement)

...And I still lose. I played this matchup over and over again. these are my mental notes for the first part. i was baiting spotdodges, before the grab which he never did too. I really wish i didn't lose to him. I would have had a lot of confidence and went far, i think.

Do you play good Marths often in friendlies? I have one of the best Marths in Canada to play with a lot, so it helps.

Then again, maybe Marth is just your bane. Everyone has that one annoying as hell character.

outside of Mattix, no. and its only once in a while, but ive played him a lot over the years. and at the level of sonic i am now, i thought i would be fine. WRONG. This is why I told speed I was gonna learn at secondary in the first place. i can't do it with sonic all the time, it seems. I can fight Metaknight, Snake, and Dedede better with Sonic than against Marth. that
sounds so lame for some reason...:(

But people were impressed with the Sonic, dont get it twisted. Pulse insisted that going meta was a good idea against sonic because he hates marth/sonic matches. I three and two stocked a DK main who took me to Jungle Japes too. I'm movin up around here. just that that peoples are too goodz in MD/VA...

I put the fear of Steak in ya. Steakophobia. the unatural and unnessasary fear of Epic Sonic Mindgames. check it. I just made that word up. in my head.

Iv'e played Mattix a very good but little known marth outside of MD/VA, Kadaj, and Neo. I rarely win.

the worst part is, when ever I lose, I feel like i was cheated by his side B. It seems like they use it so much against me. like that's the only answer to come up with. and that bothers me. it bothers me when im playing a matchup and being held back by only one move, especially when without that move i can pretty much know exactly how you attack and when to punish, and the match would be interesting. I mean, even when I know side B is coming it makes little difference.

If they're using Side B against you? On the second slash, GRAB. You'll grab them out of their Side B and turn the tables (if you can do it on the other slashes, I don't know. I usually do it on the second one). Give it a shot. Also, don't give them the satisfaction of making you roll to get away from it, when they only use two of their slashes to predict you trying to gtfo. Stay in their and don't give an inch. Most of the time they're hoping you're gonna wanna get away, only use half their side b dance, and then come in and **** you when you roll.

It's tough, man. But me?

I play against Marth almost all the time. KillL0ck is an amazing Marth player here, and I probably just have match-up experience outside of tourneys, and a ****load of friendlies. It's not too bad, but by the same token, it's a hell of a fight ahead, no matter what. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO ON PLATFORMS AGAINST MARTH.

Marth's the name. Juggling's my game. The more time you spend on the main ground or on the same platform (if big enough) as him, the better.

I find it's better to stay close when possible. Marth is a spacing character, and if you're gonna eat an FSmash anyway, you might as well take it from the center. Even then though, Marth's FSmash is horrible if you shield it.

The only moves that Marth can do that will flat-out wreck you up close if you're not careful? Grab. Shield Breaker (yes, it's **** scary and works.) Up B.

Don't give him room to space. Get in there, and when you're on the offensive, he can and WILL beat you with that forward or back air if you're gonna follow up with FAir or something or another, if he's in the air, that is. Tough as hell.

[EDIT]

Also, when recovering from below, god forbid that it does happen? A good Marth player is guaranteed some form of punishment on you.

Spring up and try and attack with Up Air/Back Air/Forward Air? They'll shield you and either use Up B OoS, or grab you for the gimping kill. OR if they wanna be flashy, down air if you haven't used your Up Air. But if you air dodge around them? They'll just predict that, turn around, and then grab you and toss you back out. Or maybe a Down Smash which is nicely tippered.

Just don't recover from low, and if you find yourself in that spot? Pray that they screw up.

[EDIT #2]

Oh! Oh! You already know that ASC against Marth is a bad idea, but didja know that even short hopping up around Marth, at least, it happens to me, puts me in a spot to be tippered by Marth's FSmash?

Try to avoid jumping around Marth if you can sense you're in that tipper position if you jump.

Not sure what else to say here, but...yeah. Marth's tough. Tough break, dude. You'll take matches eventually.

Which slash?

They have the side, downward, and upward variants. Or did you purposely not specify meaning that you can do it with any variation?
