Does anybody have a link to the official smash bros 64 website by Sakurai? I need it for a little debate about Z-canceling being a glitch.

You can close the thread after the link is posted.

No, I know full well that Z-canceling was completely intended. I just want the tangible evidence to prove it to some other guy making a fuss.

And if anybody has the old melee site, that would be really helpfull too.

Even if Z-Canceling wasn't intended its not a "glitch". People are just dumb and have no idea what a glitch is. I worked for EA as a gametester and I can guarantee you that you would not be able to enter Z-Canceling as a glitch.

I'm sorry but ther person who made this webiste has no clue what they are talking about.

Jigglypuff
""Weak" thing is a special feature.
Balance of a certain strength has been taken
It being in the character,
It is set clearly weakly.

Without acquiring handicap, it designates the beginner as the partner,
You scratch the place not to adhere to the victory being defeated and would like to disturb
When and the like when it chooses, validity.

The extent which it cannot win no matter what is not weak because,
Using this, persevering desperately the ant."

WTF >_____>

It said one of the postives of being jigglypuff was
"Because it is weak, being defeated, excuse is effective. "

Was there a lot of hype for first Smash Bros? And did it do well from the start or did it take time for people to realize it's good and then the sales started to go up?

I remember the first reviews were in the 7s and 8s...if I recall...
Melee got much better reviews because of its more diverse 1 player mode.

Yeah, I guess it's great that Sakurai really doesn't have a clue to what he's talking about.

Makes me wounder if Zero Suit Samus might be good in Brawl as Jigglypuff is in 64. Remember, SSBB Dojo said She's "not the stoutest of fighters" and therefore Sakurai says she sucks like he did with Jigglypuff. Oh well! It's all for the best.

You don't know what you're talking about. The fact that it attempts to translate Japanese EXACTLY (which it actually doesn't, anyway, because it's not a dictionary based machine translator) is precisely WHY you get gibberish. You can get the general 'gist' of a webpage at best for Japanese, and that's given that you understand linguisitics and problems with machine translators (e.g. idioms, disambiguation, etc) . If you think it translates things exactly, try translating text from English to another language (especially an East Asian language) and then back and see what you get.

Well I'm sorry if you did say the same thing, but I certainly didn't get that from reading what you said:
"lol you can trust online translators" But supposedly we agree that you can't?
"what you cant trust is the sloppy writings of other people, online translators translat EXACTLY no matter how stupid it is, what is in the text." To me that says the reason he got gibberish was that the writer made mistakes in Japanese originally. Not to mention that it doesn't translate "exactly" anyway.
And I'm sorry that you think when people write detailed explanations of things it means they are trying to make themselves feel smart. I don't know why you felt the need to take a shot at me. Anyhow if we supposedly agree then there's no need to have an argument ^_^

i think you misunderstood when he said "exactly".
i'm pretty sure he was referring to how it translates exactly each and every word one by one, which is why you get gibberish, since it doesn't take into account the nuances of the language

Perhaps. Normally I would think that, but it was qualified with the part about mistakes in the original language, which led me to think that it was saying the gibberish was caused by the program doing exact translations of mistakes. And strictly speaking, the major online translators don't always parse a single word at a time.

Knockbackwise, it's actually fairly accurate. Sheik has relatively weak moves, which are good for comboing but wouldn't be as good for killing had they not made Fair rigged. And Fair is only rigged because of its hit trajectory (not to mention giant hitbox). It's actually not that powerful an attack compared to...say...Ganondorf.
