Hey, I unlocked all of Mario's moves in a couple hours on the WiiU version. I just went to Target Smash as Mario and kept playing it until I got a wrench. You can use - before you move to see the stage. Just hit the wrench with the bomb (I suggest using the first level, it's the easiest), and when you do, just play it through. You'll get a wrench once every 5 tries or so, and you'll get a customization for the character you're using once ever 2 or 3 times. I got Mario quick, and I'm almost done with Toon Link now. Give this a try!I'll figure out a way a little later to add these up top. The first is a really good note that I forgot to mention, so thank you for pointing that out especially.
As it turns out, I actually don't have those badges yet! That combination sounds insane though, so I'll be sure to mention it. Core on 9.0 is indeed still tough no matter what, I can't downplay that. The positive thing is that if you lose and have to play him again at a lower difficulty, you still end up keeping the rewards you've already won.
Anyway, thanks for the help! I'll probably just add an addendum section where I quote and add useful contributions like yours.
Either I just have extremely goow luck, or playing as a Mii does influence hat drops. Though, luck may be it, because I have seen people claim it doesn't influence hat drops. I would give it a try though. So I finally managed to obtain all custom moves last night, now I only have 3 more hats to obtain. For those of you who have already collected them all, how did you go about getting the last 3 hats?
Me, I've been trying Target Blast, but even though I've been racking up perfects with Villager, I still only get mostly equipment. Is there a way to influence the RNG into dropping more hats (or at least to stop with the goddamn equipment)?
What mode(s), though?? (You can't possibly mean Target Blast, as the Miis aren't as good as Villager for that.)Either I just have extremely goow luck, or playing as a Mii does influence hat drops. Oh, I don't use target blast for customs. Classic and smash run are what I'm talking about. What mode(s), though?? (You can't possibly mean Target Blast, as the Miis aren't as good as Villager for that.)
Well, I don't want to use Smash Run (since I'm very close to getting all powers and I don't want to get all of them because that unlocks Prince's Hat and adds it to the duplicate pool). And Classic... ugh. I've run through Classic so many times getting custom moves that I don't ever want to see that mode again.Oh, I don't use target blast for customs. Little Mac seems to be one of the better Target Blast players himself, since he can send the bomb flying with just his Straight Lunge; no need to hassle around with control-sensitive smash attacks with him. What mode(s), though?? You can try playing a few games of Smash or running through classic as Mii and then play Target Blast as Villager. Target Blast will then give you items as if you were playing as Mii (you'll notice the custom move drops you get are varied instead of being biased towards one character). I don't think this increases the hat drop rate, but I did get 3 of the 4 or so hats I was missing with this method in a single day, so give it a try. What mode(s), though?? It varies.Does taking the red path instead of the blue or green path in Classic get you more/better stuff?
Depending on the intensity level, it can vary. You could still end up getting nothing when you take the harder routes.Does taking the red path instead of the blue or green path in Classic get you more/better stuff?
You apparently can, which isn't possible in Smash 3DS.You can use customs on Trophy Rush in the Wii U version?
Haha, dang! I'm just imaging how much easier it would become slapping +200 defense on DK and not even having to worry about the lightning bolt, bombs, etc. (Or, of course, using the Palutena technique mentioned above.)You apparently can, which isn't possible in Smash 3DS.
What difficulty are you on? If you go on 7.9 you get pretty good rewards without having to fight master core. Other than that, I can't think of anything but luck.Does anyone know what causes wrenches to give some items (Mii costoms, equipment, and customs) over others? And what about the number of wrenches you get on the roulette in classic mode? Are these both completely random? A lot of my friends were able to get all the custom moves unlocked in about a week after putting just a few hours into it every day because classic mode gave them tons of wrenches and the wrenches often gave them custom moves. I've been putting at least an hour (usually a few hours) into grinding for customs in trophy rush and using the home button method in classic mode every day since the game came out, and haven't even gotten 1/3 of the customs, so I'm starting to think I might be doing something wrong.
In classic mode, is it possible that "cheap KOs" like you lost points for in 64 and Melee could make it less likely you get any wrenches? I usually go for KOing opponents by tossing them off the side of the stage to make the matches go faster, which I'm pretty sure the game considered "cheap" at least in Melee. I don't remember what else was considered a "cheap KO" in 64 and Melee, so I don't know if my other KOs could possibly be held against me as well. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Anyone have any ideas? Or are my friends just lucky/am I just unlucky?
I'm not sure if wrenches unlock headgear. If it does, then you should probably just keep trying.Does the strategy work for headgear? It's the only custom part I'm missing now, but spamming Target Blast doesn't seem to do much.
The wrench icon represents all custom part variants, which does include Mii outfits and Mii headgear.I'm not sure if wrenches unlock headgear. If it does, then you should probably just keep trying.
It's not like you're guaranteed to get your selected fighter's custom specials, but your odds of getting them do increase.also when i play a character through classic mode, i almost never get customs for the character I am playing. Its always moves for other random ones.
