I was bumming around the wii store thing today, and I saw good 'ol SSB '64, which has been there for a while now. It got me thinking. CRT tv's are getting rarer in general and almost impossible to rent. When melee is released on WiiHD, without lag on HDTV's, the community can have melee and SSB4 on the same console for tournaments, and set ups will be easier to find in quantities. Does anyone see why this wouldn't work? It's still off in the future, yes, and we don't even know if nintendo is going to utilize HD in their next generation, but is there anything in particular that makes this invalid?

Yeah of course. If Melee is re-released on Nintendo's future next-gen console, setups will increase. I don't see why not. The only thing that may possibly be a problem is gamecube contoller compatibility in that future console. They may not support it anymore. We could always use adapters and such, but that's the one big thing that comes to mind.

I firmly believe that Nintendo will never re-release Melee or make another smash game.

I guess we'll also have to hope that Nintendo releases a decent classic controller. Seems like a slim chance of that.

the Classic Controller Pro is pretty decent.

Just the left joystick is in a bad place imo but I guess if Playstation fans can pull it off, I guess we can too.

there will never be a melee like meleee ever.

like how when metroid prime trilogy, the creators of the game (who arent sakruai and dont HATE competitive play) removed all the techniques you could do to skip parts of the game, which i found very fun and interesting.

and sakurai already hates us. we'd be better off just using vga boxes and computer moniters
(my school has a ton, and they can't stand them)

I lol'd of course they will make one. But on topic they wont re-release melee. nintedo never makes a good choice thats particularly obvious, they try to make good choices that no one see's coming. for instance, a zelda 2d fighter, people have been wanting that for years but nintendo will always ignore the obvious stuff. But it would be nice for future hd tv's to get better game modes so we can play without lag.

LOL who's wanted a zelda 2d fighter? If they did, I'd probably get angry.

But they'll re-release Melee. As I've said before, they'll re-release first party gamecube games as download content, just like n64 games are being released on the Wii. When that is, i don't know. But Melee isn't one of those games that just gets one release, and then is forgotten. It's the cube's best selling game by far, of COURSE they are going to include it in some future compilation. You guys are thinking 2011-2012. I'm thinking like 2013-2014.

A Zelda 2D figher, are you serious? I've never heard that suggested in my life, and it would probably just anger fans.

hdtvs themselves lag too, I'm pretty sure sf4 players also use crts over lcds

so what we're waiting for is for manufactures to bring the digital signage hdtvs (no postprocessing so there's no lag) to the general public, cuz as of right now, they're marketed to commercial buyers and only sold in large sizes like 30"+ that we couldn't carry around

for instance, a zelda 2d fighter, people have been wanting that for years but nintendo will always ignore the obvious stuff.
You were trolling right?

right?

I never thought about that, but I really hope Nintendo does it!
