Please don't see me as a manga supporter or anything of that fashion. Truly i was intrigued with The subspace emissary update and thought of a fiction being based on it would be cool. it wouldn't have to be extremely close to the real story but would keep the important facts alive as well as the characters hisrtories. Many other VG series have a comic or book (Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Resident evil) and an epic story with all nintendo characters would be cool.

Also since it's in book for characters could talk. Nintendo has a problem with character voices rather than vocabulary. I could see this as something really cool and beneficial to even more brawl hype and continue the spirit of the game. If such a thing was made I've already decided that I'd faithfully buy and enjoy. Is there anyone who agrees? Please comment. :)

Hmmm, I guess that would be a pretty cool idea. Although, the author would have to pull it off pretty well because it's not as simple as an RPG. We don't know how in depth the Subspace Emissary will take us but we can wait and see.

If the game and story becomes popular enough, somebody will mangafy it. There's Legend of Zelda manga of nearly every game and about 10 different Pokémon manga (the most popular being Pokémon Special).

I seem to remember a topic about something like this a LONG time ago...

It'd probably be Japan-only, like most of the Zelda ones. Scanlations rule.

Trouble is, manga also usualy changes the story, or adds elements to "liven it up". And Smash is not going to have a hugely developed story.

On the other hand, does that matter? Its fangasmic enough to see all your childhood heroes and villains fight together, in canon.

Eh, it depends, I'm really picky with comics/manga based on videogames. The manga must be completely compatible with game canon with maybe some extra bits.

are any of you big comic (american comic) book fans? Have you read crisis on infinite earths? Its like this huge DC crossover about this big evil entity that goes on this crusade to destroy all the parallel universes in DC - and all these random superheroes band together to fight it. Thats totally the first thing i thought of when I saw the trailer for subspace emissary. I guess that could sort of be the premise for a manga. Otherwise i guess it could be like tsubasa reservoir chronicle, where there's a core team of people (link, fox and samus, maybe?) and they travel to parallel universes and meet other characters and iono...do stuff.

I see it happening.

I mean there's Zelda and Pokemon mangas. Pretty much any successful game series gets all this stuff.
Oh yeah, I remember seeing the pokemon mangas long time ago. I also hear that they discontinued it because, even by Japanese standards, it had a lot of...
...
Well, I'd be going a little too far with "sexual explicit content," so I'll just say that it had a lot of "risque" attire for the female characters.

Pokemon has been a huge target for lolicon fanartists fora while now, but even in the games the girls wear clothing too... short. It wasn't just cause of the manga.

Though that's off topic, I hope Brawl wouldn't suffer a similar fate. *shiver*

.....

The Pokemon Manga "Pocket Monsters Special" (or Pokemon Adventures in the US) is still running in Japan....

Where did you hear that is was canceled because of lolicon similarities?

Anyways, I doubt that would happen to Smash Bros, there are no little girls in it...

If there's not going to be one, I'll convince my girlfriend to help me make one (since I suck at drawing).

Sounds fine, but I don't see it happening... although it's a popular series, it doesn't have enough own plot to base a real story around. Sure, there's the Subspace Emissary, but that story won't go very deep. An artist would have to work really hard to make something decent out of that, I assume. Of course, I don't know what exactly SE is like. Still, Sakurai said it won't be overwrought with plot, which lets one assume it's mostly about beating levels and enemies.
That's why you never see mangas about a specific game from the Super Mario series ( well, besides maybe those that have an ongoing plot ). There are many Mario mangas and comics, but they're always ( usually? ) original stories that only use the characters and general setting of the games, because "Bowser kidnapped the Princess and Mario has to save her" just doesn't do it for a full-blown manga. And you don't want to read several chapters about the side-story where the tragic Goomba hero was betrayed by his people and sacrifices himself for Mario, who was the first one who ever understood him.

Trust me, you don't.

By the way, no serious bashing of the manga art form, please. 90% of everything is crap!

EDIT: Oh yeah. There is of course the possibility that we make our own.
But we'd have to work hard together to be able to not make it suck donkey balls.

In Akaneia, blasting every castle with a pink Land
the Zelda Oracles and A Link to the Past games has a very basic plot. but the Manga artist pulled it off very very well and made a very deep and awesome storyline with it.

sure there were some original characters "Raven" and "Ganty", and some twists here and there, but it stayed true the story.

You HAVE to check them out, specially A Link To The Past, awesome story, it is the best.^_^

these Zelda Mangas are amazing, i am glad that i have read them.:)

so a Brawl Manga is a yes in my book.;)

To me, I just don't see it happening. Like Fawriel said, the Smash series don't have a well-developed plot like Legend of Zelda. I saw it should just stick with the game.

I'd buy it if it was real...or if it wasn't in Canada I'd try and read it online somehow.
But it wouldn't be made until way after the game's release mostlikely.

Either way, it's an amazing idea.

Smash Anime?

So the other week, my bro and I were talking about if they made a Smash Bros. anime. I thought it would be cool as long as it isn't on a DBZ scale. We also planned out how the seasons would go:

Season 1 could be the SE.
Season 2 could be an actual tournament (like Melee)
Season 3 would be the Giga Bowser Saga.

What do you think?
