I don't post in this forum much but I do follow it since I am interested in the character.

Interesting that a few people here think Doc goes even with Cloud. Only one person in the Doc forums thinks that way, whereas the rest of us think that in spite of Doc's ability to land his character specific stuff on Cloud and his ability to edgeguard with Down-B, reverse Up-B (and sometimes dair), it's an advantage for Cloud (though not Rosalina/ZSS levels of hard). Regrettably, our most notable Doc players (2ManyCooks, Koolaid, Kudemo, Rice, etc.) don't post as often so we don't get a lot of insight at higher level.

Concerning about getting gimped while playing Cloud:

- Uair as soon as you double jump
- Fair at the ledge as soon as you double jump. Should out range their ledge guard options if they are sitting there
- Airdodge as soon as you double jump
- Early double jump (with airdodge/Nair/Uair) to recover high. Don't forget that Uair covers your front side too before the upward hitbox
- Blade Beam/Cross Slash air stall as you near back toward the stage
- Don't be right near the stage what you Up B: We have magnet hands so sometimes do it from farther away and you'll be surprised when you actually make it. This is the best way to avoid getting Dtilt/Smash attacked at the ledge
- Master grabbing the ledge from the diagonal parts of tournament stages with the very apex of Up B. I spend a good 10 minutes each day doing this. For example, the timing for Up B on Smashville is as soon as Cloud reaches the bottom of the screen
- Master recovering with the apex of Up B in general
- Save Limit for when you are offstage. Only go for Limit punishes/kills if you are absolutely sure (Basically play like Komorikiri and not Mew2Kiing where he saves Limit a good portion of the time)
- Don't always recover low with Limit Up B. Sometimes use it early for the horizontal distance it gives and use the downward part to cover your landing onstage
- If playing against characters that have a counter and they try to use Counter on your Up B, recover under the ledge and reverse it so the hitbox faces away from them
- If you have Limit offstage but can recover without Limit Up B use Limit Blade Beam/Cross Slash to cover your approach back to the stage
- Not really a Cloud specific recovery option, but just read the opponent's edge guard option

And who said Cloud has only a few recovery options?
Hope you don't mind If I use this info for our Cloud vs Ike MU it's some solid info and don't worry i'll credit you.

2ManyCooks is one of my closest friends and we go back and forth in our region. He's one of the people who believes Doc vs. Cloud is a close match.

Mario & Sonic Guy Mario & Sonic Guy It's true. :( But he's still definitely grossly underestimated. He needs to be mid tier.

Hahah, yeah. Thanks! My original tag was Spin-Dash, but it was spontaneous and ripped off from an old NSider forum user, so this is more true to myself. I definitely lucked out when Cloud got announced.

I am a bit late to the party, But here I my Tier List.
That tier list is confusing, but let me show you a more "accurate" one completely unbiased and fair.

Edit: Right click and open image in new tab or something....

... Shot in the dark, but you wouldn't happen to be from Australia, would you? LOL I ask because of a certain tier on that list of yours, and I'm pretty good with the WA scene (Perth specifically).

That, and you're from 'Some Island'.

It's too bad that in the long run, Dr. Mario is still very inferior to his standard counterpart, especially in the recovery department.
Very inferior is pushing it. Slightly inferior, but has things going for him (esp. against fastfallers) and overall has a better moveset but with worse mobility/combo stats.

Ah, that's good to know. Cool thing about Doc reps (high level ones) is that they believe in the character. I've always had faith in the character, but partly because of what guys like 2MC and Koolaid have done with him.

Doc is a very strange case,he has niche matchups against top tiers, some of them 0, or even positive, but he has a lot of issues against mid and low tiers (namely, most sword wielders and good zoners).

Characters that can comfortably keep him out with disjoints really suck because they force him to approach and he can't do much about it. Roy's probably an exception to this and he gets punished harder. Projectile characters aren't so bad because of Sheet (and the lack of a stall property makes b-reverse/wavebouncing Sheets pretty good for spacing) and pills.

As far as top tiers go, his frame data helps him get out of pressure and his more damaging combos off of down throw work really well. But then there's Rosalina. I would probably just go Cloud, ZSS or Mewtwo for those matchups.

Still, Mario seems to have the better offense with his better mobility, especially since his Super Jump Punch can deliver more hits than Dr. Mario's Super Jump Punch. And of course, Mario's recovery is better with his higher mobility, and he can stall in the air with his Cape.

Yeah, his offense is better than Doc's. That's undeniable. But I'm not sure why SJP dealing more than one hit matters, esp. since Mario's can't kill as efficiently.

I mentioned this somewhere else, but Mario's Cape stall is pretty bad since he doesn't get any height and it stops all momentum. So he doesn't go anywhere nor does he gain any distance :(

I guess it's because a fighter can't just shield one blow and be safe. Sure, Mario's Super Jump Punch may not have Dr. Mario's power, but it can still be used as a damage builder.

As for Mario's Cape, it seems like Gust Cape works better for recovery, but since I have the tendency to use equipment, I really can't say how well Gust Cape can help Mario's recovery if his speed value is set at 0.

It actually does less damage than Doc's SJP.

NIIIIICE! :D
I love Chrono Trigger; it's tied with Final Fantasy VI as my favorite SNES game. I have the DS release as well, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Though, I should warn you about FF6 on Steam. I dunno if they fixed the problems, but I heard the re-release crashes a lot. I hope they fixed it because it's my favorite Final Fantasy.

Don't both variations deal up to 13% damage? Mario's version would need all hits to connect though.
I don't recall the damage myself, but one thing to consider,

Doc can use Up B as an OoS option at higher percents to guarantee kills. Reversal Super Jump Punch after UAir strings as well nets kills. But the fact that Doc can use it as an OoS/punish option is absolutely underutilized. Case and point? Dr. Mario can forward smash Meta Knight (no power shielding involved), and is safe on block against him, throwing out jab combos and if reading the attempt to punish? Super Jump Punch. And that can be lethal at high percents too.

Mario's is better for recovery and can be combo'd into easier. But I find that Dr. Mario uses his for kills more efficiently if Mario can't land the Up B off the top.

Doc is grossly underestimated IMO, but he's by no means some high tier sleeper or top of mid tier kinda character either.

Yeah, I suppose I am very lucky because these are the best RPGs on whatid probably the best console for the genre.

Now if only they would re-release Earthbound on the 3DS. I don't have a Wii U and I want to complete the SNES RPG trio at some point.

Its my personal preference, not based on if character's skill. That's what the tier list maker was kind of made for. These are characters who I enjoy playing as or characters that I don't really care about.

Quick guys, before I get salty and quit for good:
How do we deal with Bayonetta?
It's kinda like playing against ZSS but with worse frame data. Stay defensive, let her make the first move, punish with our superior frame data and go from there. Don't full jump DAir because that's Witch Time bait. She and Cloud both have bad grab ranges, so she's gonna hafta come in with side B, tilts, and NAir stuff.

Cloud does really well IMO. Cloud can play any style he wants, but in this case, defense is the best offense. Camp that Limit Break, build that damage, and punish her with Finishing Touch/Cross Slash. Oh, and if she's offstage, Limit Blade Beam, NAir, list goes on for what to do to make her burn her second jump and make her recovering difficult.

Cloud bodies Bayonetta. His grab is is best option, and a well timed dash attacks will keep Bayo on her feet. I have some replays if you want them.

After a long wait, I finally got to start playing Final Fantasy VII on my PS4. I'm currently 20 minutes into it and I'm already enjoying it so far.
