Smash Master
After much thought and consultation, it was decided that a seasonal OTL would be created so that Brawlers could quickly see where they stack up against others. This is that ranking system.
The system is similar to that of the global OTL PR. No need to explain this again, as I can quote it below (personal edits in pink):
Here are the hot streaks of the season:
2/18/2010 It's Dabuz's world and we all just live in it.
3/4/2010 Prince Ramen now has the number one spot!
This PR includes all tourneys ending in these date ranges: January 1, 2010 00:00.00 EST to March 31, 2010 23:59.59 EST. After the end of the season, these rankings will be added to the global OTL PR, the thread will be locked, and a new season will happen for the PR (May-August.)
Hopefully, this list will help you in seeding and such. If you need help with this, do not hesitate to ask. The second post will have the archive of tourneys used plus an archived Q&A section for questions or concerns you may have had.
Special thanks to the team (kirbywizard, Commander_Beef, Zero_Edge, shadowfirex100, Z.e.n., & Snare) for all the guidance—it’s much appreciated.
If you have questions or concerns, add a reply below, or send me a VM or PM.
Here are some dates that I will be a little slow in adding tourneys to:
1/15-19: Pound 4
3/20-26: Spring Break
The system is similar to that of the global OTL PR. No need to explain this again, as I can quote it below (personal edits in pink):
How I scored
I took the rank you had and multiplied it by the number of people in the tourney and divided it by 100.
First - 10
Second - 5
Third - 3
Fourth - 1
Top 8 (Only for 32+ People) - .5
Top 16 (Only for 64+ People) - .1
Requirements for tournaments
1. Please have a bare minimum of eight people in your tournament
2. Have at least first and second place rankings and the number of people in your tournament (third place/loser's bracket/fourth place is recommended)
3. There can only be one first place finish, one second place finish, etc. If there isn't I will not add their points to the rankings, TOs please make sure that there are clear defined winners.
4. I will be adding 4th place finishes with the addition of more organized tournaments thanks to FMOI's guide. Any tournaments that have already ended I will not be going back and finding their fourth place finishes. In addition there can only now be one person per place, TOs please work out your results or I will not add points to the said people’s total points.
Tourney List
I have time on my hands, so I can update the list pretty quickly. If I haven’t gotten around to entering your tourney after 24 hours, please let me know.
Any new tourneys finished please post in this format or I can't add you.
Tourney's Full Name (with inline link to tourney) - # of people
First Place
Second Place
Third Place
Fourth Place
Q and A
Q. Wait, there are a lot of people that drop out of these things, why are you going off of how many people signed up and not the people that have played.
A. Laziness. If someone wants to send me how many people were actually in the tourney compared to who signed up by counting each person individually go right ahead. This list will obviously have a margin of error to it.
Q. Hey, no double tourneys?
A. 1v1 is different from 2v2, skills are displayed differently and you might be amazing but have an idiot partner and not make it, or make it and give points to someone who probably doesn't deserve it. In all, doubles get confusing.
Q. Only top 3?
A. Yes, after that either there are to many 4th place or top 8 etc. If OTs get to be as organized as real tourneys then yes I might start adding them.
Q. Seeding?
A. When creating a tourney, sometimes random brackets are unfair or favor certain people. If you use these rankings as seeds, you will probably have a more evened out tournement overall. (ex. keeping the #1 and #2 seeds on seperate bracket sides so the #2 seed doesn't lose in the first round where he would normally make it to the finals)
The Rankings
White indicates a player stayed in the same position.
Red indicates a player dropped a position(s).
