Alright. Suppose someone wanted to play the 12 hardest possible matches against 12 distinct players (each player can only control one character), who should we assign to each character?

To kick it off, I think Isai should probably be given Link. He dominates with every character, but I think the gap between his Link and everyone else's is much larger than that gap for his other characters (eg, there are some Foxes that are almost as good as his).

Other picks (not too sure about these, you guys would probably know better than I would):

You should not combine North American and Japanese players, as the games are completely different. Instead, you could do two separate lists, one for North America, and one for Japan. Just a suggestion (e.g. I don't think Takamitsu would be the best Puff in the NA version, nor would tigerbombz be the best Fox in the Japan version).

I'm planning on making a 'tournament' (don't know what to call it), where you play the top 3 of each character, and the ones with the best record with a certain character will be crowned the best online smasher of that character. Once I figure out the way the 'tournament' will unfold, I'll start it (probably in a week or so).

on the other hand...oh l33t i made the list. Theres a bunch of good foxes out there, if anything ppl know i got the best pikachu out of everyone...oh fo sho doe

I haven't seen many matches of your pikachu, but every time I watch your fox I think "Oh ****, here comes tiger's fox. woot."

too much noob-stomping, dodging will happen, not a good idea imo

unless you think a noob has as much value as a decent smasher

No, I'm planning on doing a round robin for each individual character (one for all Luigis, one for all Marios, etc.). Then, the top 3 or so of each character can take part. The noobs will all be eliminated in the early round. Those who are known to be good with a given character will be given byes, not having to take part in the round robin and immediately proceeding to the actual tournament.

The round robin itself is the qualification to the tournament, eliminating the noobs.

Frog (and Koro can too, apparently) can beat Sheer with Yoshi
I can beat Dreday with Samus (but I'm not an amazing Samus, so I wouldn't recommend myself)

I would put:

Yoshi - Frog
Ness - Quickman (only other person who I think I could put for Ness would be Fireblaster)
Jiggs - ?
Mario - Fireblaster
Pika - Trigger I guess.
Spamus - Beast or Nintendude
DK - ?
Falcon - Boom

sheer = yoshi (because frog is too l33t and no one else has a good dk besides him...its all about balance. Yes im bias n i dnt give a *** koro could be good or not but sheer possibly started the yoshi craze and if yallz be tripping then i pwn all yallz yoshi with fox k thx bai)

quickman = ness (come on now...u know its true, who else would fit it)

jiggs = moogle (cuz i honestly cant think of any others who play jiggs as a main)

mario = fireblaster (nigggas fuking l33t)

pikachu = tigerbombz (yes me ffs im too fukign l33t lets not lie! Im like only one in top 10 who uses him for main besides isai)

Samus = Dreday (just cuz you beat someone with the same character dnt mean ur character is better then theirs. Foo's samus is broken nuff said, sorry darth rancorous...)

Dk = Frog (wtf thats all i say when i play that shiet...its too pro status sniff)

Falcon = Superboom (well obviously!)

Link = Isai (youtube it)

Luigi = ...

Fox = Smoke2jointz (many FOX Players i say right now that are all l33t. But this is for 1 person per spot only or else fukign i put boom and isai at every single characters name and u know its true! Only picked smoked cuz i seen him play more recently then darth fox)

sensei and valoem (jerry) have good pika's as well. i don't know much about the rest, though, since i hadn't touched this game for a year and a half until sensei's tournament a few months back.

sensei's also got a pretty good luigi.

Mario is my worst :(

I'd say Trigger has one of the best Pikas while Frog has a great Yoshi/ Luigi

Well, the point is to have 12 distinct players, not 12 non-Isais. He's allowed to be on the list once, which is why I put him for Link.

I agree. The only time I've ever seen Isai's Pika lose is to Johnny's Pika. That really doesn't prove anything, but since we all seem to agree that Isai should take the Link slot, Johnny seems like the best choice for Pika.

You know, it's been years since I have seen a new Johnny match. It's kind of silly to be including non-active players in a thing like this.

Also I nominate myself for Pikachu because we definitely need more Pikachus.

Jigglymaster stopped playing SSB64 like a year ago to go play Brawl, I don't think he should get it. I don't really remember him having an amazing Jigglypuff, either...
